Positive energy and attitude has allowed Williams to reap benefits in her career. She stars along with Outkast’s Big Boi in the upcoming HBO musical Idlewild. In the period film, also starring Big Boi’s partner, Andre 3000, she plays Zora, the film’s moral center. On ‘Windfall,’ an NBC mid-season replacement, she plays a struggling 22-year-old single mother who wins $40 million along with nine others. “I’ve seen her on the show and she’s phenomenal,” says Vanessa Williams. “What an amazing gift it is to be able to act every day that you’re the recipient of $40 million. Just to put yourself in that space. It’s no accident that she is there.”
[Malinda] Williams is hoping that her new lingerie line, Modern Goddess, for which she is doing some modeling as well, allows her multimillion-dollar dreams to come true. Lingerie seems a natural move as Bird spent many a show in lavishly feminine underwear. “I love lingerie,” she says. “I want all the women who buy it to feel that they are modern contemporary goddesses.” Williams is the perfect example of a modern goddess. Seemingly ageless, she played teenagers well into her 20s and is now playing someone eight years younger. Williams’ youthful looks landed her in two music videos–22-year-old G-Unit member Young Buck’s “Ride with Me” and Ruff Endz’s “Someone to Love You.”
“Part of it is genes,” the 30-year-old says. “I got it from my mom and my dad. And spiritedness is the key. I don’t worry about anything. Negativity will wear you down and make you sick and old. Water is key to keeping us youthful and I try to stay active. “
