I just visited the stella mccartney site and she had some pretty decent line of clothing but, are they designed for women of color(big boobs and big rear ends of course)and, I saw absolutely no black models. I did rush through the site so it’s a possibility they had at least one black model.

I never said that Stella M was the best designer for curvy black women (she has a website though that suggests she is serious about her craft) that would be hands down Diane Von Furstenburg (creator of the wrap dress) some of her stuff off the rack goes up to 16. Its feminine, its sexy. Michael Kors also comes to mind but he’s alittle boring.

What I am trying to say is why not take some of the spring trends and incorporate that bootylicousness into that—INNOVATE…any body can put some capris and some high heels on.

I think what’s happening is the same company makes all these clothes and the “designers” just stamp their name to them, and they actually have very little input to the content of the clothing. Just an observation.

Im glad beyonce and mom are making money, but those clothes are not worth the price. They just look like regular jeans with a nice stitching on the pockets. And those babydoll dresses are annoying. I have to say, I’m willing to pay for jeans that fit well. Because these other jean companies have been getting us for a long time and they are not even cut for the curves. Seven Jeans in particular which do a black girl’s shape well start at $128. The higher end like Diesel, True Religion, Paper Denim and the really fly labels are $198 to $220 and even higher. $96 is not bad if the cut and denim quality is nice.
HOWEVER I’m scared to try it!
I am still MAD at them for that $900 chinchilla jacket. That’s a “good” price for chinchilla…but WHY is it lined in POLYESTER???? Do you mean to tell me that not putting a nice silk lining inside of those jackets (which is what is usually done with fur coats)is what made the hundreds of dollars in difference?? Chinchilla…and polyester???

Listen, H.O.D. is simply selling Beyonce’s glamour– more power to them!

$96 is NOT a crazy price for jeans. It’s not the cheapest, but you have to take into account the group they’re marketing their items to. Young adult women. No matter what Beyonce or her mother want to say, they’re targeting women ages 16/17-30 —youthful women who are caught up in fashion and will pay almost any semi-reasonable price for cute things that fit well.

The are targeting women who go to UP AGAINST THE WALL and fine department stores and boutiques to shop and buy jeans for at least $75, $80; women who go shoe shopping at Macy’s, Saks, Neimans, Bloomings, etc., and there’s nothing wrong with that. There’s a demographic that wants hot shit and ppl are stepping up to supply it.

That’s why it’s hard to hate on Kimora. She supplies cute gear for a lot of urban young women; she makes what she likes and young girls love it.
It’s not for all of us.

Beyonce’s line isn’t for everyone. Personally, I don’t think it’s that hot, but if it does well good for her.

Out of all the celebrity clothing lines, B’s is the one that is mainly selling her personal image. If that what she has to do to get girls to buy into her fashions, and these women do buy into it, then more power to her. But her prices aren’t that outrageous if you consider the demographic she’s targeting. Most of her fashions aren’t WORTH the price, but she isn’t crazy for listing those prices.

SeanJohn isn’t a low priced celebrity fashion line, but no one complains because it’s worth it.

If H.O.D. becomes worth it, then hey…I’m sure most of us won’t be complaining.

i’m not a hater. i am a lover of fashion. true fashion, not labels. i give props to bee and her mom pushing a real line. this line as we have seen in their video fashions are hit or miss. only things i will down in the line is: trying to reintroduce babydoll dresses (no no), acid wash denim and ruffles. this look is in the texas style. things are handled differently here. even though we get buck we do expect you to come correct when the time arises. and boy do we love hair. she’s raised in the old way of texas- you may be lowdown but you better handle it like a lady. lady at all times. a few of the long dresses i like, but i’ve seen them done before. from all the ideas they are trying to convey i think it will balance out in next release. Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion, and just at some of you see nothing wrong with paying $96 for some jeans, some of us are not into label worship and TRYING to look rich by overpaying for tacky, ugly shyt. Non-celebrities who are rich, I am talking people with real money, are not into all this tacky, ostentatious materialism. It’s one thing to buy good clothes that are well made that you can wear for years, but why spend all this money on clothes just because of who made it?

I am a fan of Beyonce’s but personally, i don’t find anything innovative with the H.O.D. “couture” line. Most of those clothes looks very similar to something that I would find at H&m. I remember seeing an episode of oprah where she was introducing her line and the dress that Kelly wore was nice.

As an up and coming fashion designer. Mrs. Knowles designs are the same as I see on the other e-fashion solutions sites. And yes all you have to do is have the money and you can stamp your name on a label that is not designing! I regard her for some of her designs with DC3, but as far as this, it kills me that those of us that are working hard to get our names out the as a true fashion designers. I wish her all the luck on her label, but feel that she should try to put her “hands” on it more.

Jeans cost money in the fashion world. I own a boutique in west los angeles and for a good pair of jeans you pay from 100-300 bucks. i am not saying there arent great jeans for cheap. However if you were into fashion and new what lines are hot now then your views may change. I dont think she wants her line to be categorized in the BabyPhat, RocaWear, Echo type jeans. Those are “cheap jeans”. Quality jeans like 575 Jeans, Level 99, Yanuk, True Religion, 7 For All Mankind all cost 100 plus and the denim on most of them are great and so is the fit. Im not sure what was said on Oprah, but it looks like Beyonce and her mom ( who does look like she is running a whore house) are going for upscale , highend fashion. I have no problem dropping a good sum of money for good quality clothes that are well-designed. This is stuff that you buy and it’ll collect dust in your closet. I’m hardly cheap by anyone’s standards but there is NO way I would pay $96 for some jeans that I know some 5 year old in China was paid like $1 to make with crap quality. Very reminiscent of J Lo’s clothing line and Jessica Simpson’s shoe line. Celebs: if you’re going to turn to designers, take hints from Gwen Stefani, Diddy and Bono. Stefani was creative and made original projects, some of which are practica. I love her “Color of love” print shirt which sold out really quickly. Diddy marketed his with a lifestyle and his stuff seems to be of the same quality as RL and Donna Karan. His style is a little to trendy generally, though I’ve actually been impressed with some of his women’s wear. Bono just came up with Edun and handed it to someone else. Proceeds go to charity and the quality is AMAZING. If I drop $150 on a pair of jeans, they have to be perfect on me and they have to be beautifully made.

HOD has tacky written ALL over it. I’m sure no one will heed my warning, but don’t waste your money. Frankly, I’d rather wear jeans from the Gap than those from the House of Dereon. The nerve! I don’t see how a woman from NYC: THE FASHION CAPITOL OF THE WORLD NEXT TO PARIS, could possibly create a cutting edge, top of the line, outfit from what they have put together. I see a lot of missing elements that are essential for a woman to have in order to have a polished look and still be fashion forward.
There are reviews from major designer experts that have not had much to say about her line. I have only read that H.O.D. NEEDS A LOT OF HELP IN THE AREA OF CONCEPT-QUALITY-OVERALL STYLE!
Sometimes you have to hire people who are noted for their creativety and their abilities to actually create FASHION. There are many gifted-young designers and older designers who could make H.O.D. very FASHION FORWARD and requested by HOLLYWOOD STARS.
If we are feeling this way just think about how the “STARS” feel about them. Too bad.
