I love Queen. She’s so charismatic and so unaffraid to think outside of the box. Even in her beginnings when she came with the “African” thing she wasn’t afraid to do things her way.

She’s so beautiful. She’s making that money. Always glad to see a Black American woman do well.

It is just so comforting to see a woman who likes like ME gracing the covers of magazines, getting fulfilling movie rolls and really doing her thing. It just shows that full-figured women of color are marketable and most of all BEAUTIFUL! None of us should aspire to be like those painfully thin models and celebrities we see plastered all over other magazines. Queen is a great role model for REAL women!

I am happy for her, but she looked better wheb she’d slimmed down. She needs to lose some weight!

why they had to get a big girl to represent all of us though? I mean not every black women is large. The queen is beautiful and much love to her she is doing a great job, but just an observation….none of their white models is big “bonededed”..I dont see roseanne arnold modeling for cover girl for the women of no color. They wouldnt dare portray themselves like that.I mean there are plenty of slender beautiful women of color that represents black women too…gabrielle union would have been perfect for it.

Gabrielle is busy with Neutrogena…I think it’s great to see a plus sized woman representing a cosmetic line. It’s long overdue, beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and the the “Queen” is representing a demographic. Covergirl as well as all the other cosmetic companies have plenty of slender women in their ads to represent that market too. If you can recall Emme Aronson, a plus sized white model, had a major contract with Revlon, so they do portray themselves like that.

I think are plenty of slender models out there already. It’s great that Queen is able to portray a demographic of women that may not have high levels of self-esteem. I mean honestly, why NOT Queen Latifah vs. some smaller model. And yes, there are plus-sized white models.

Queen is doing the damn thing…not too many women have a whole cosmetic line created in their honor, black, white, thin, or thick. Also, to obtain a contract with such a HIGHLY mass-marketed product is a great feat for any black woman, regardless of her size. People will always have something to complain about.

@ the truth:

I feel you…. not everyone one of us are big. I admire the queen as much as the next person. She (the queen) as well as the rest of us thinks she is a bit overweight as well because she is doing something about it. She has a trainer. I think what we need to realize is that she isn’t obsessing over it like all of Hollywood, it doesn’t make her or break her (to be skinny). But I would love to see a Mary or an Alicia Keys do this kind of marketing. I would like to see someone that will represent us on a whole.. not Large Or Small but the beautiful curvaceous women that we are. We just don’t come in 2 sizes!!

in my earlier entry I was just being funny.

queen is doing her thing. and she isnt the only one who is a covergirl poster-child representing women of color. so is eva the diva. and doesnt halle berry? i cant remember. but i dont even know that she is necessarily representing “big” women. she is marketing a line of make-up as a woman. and i believe that in and of itself speaks volumes. that a woman no matter the size shape or color wears make-up. and it silently takes a stand against the traditional ideal of beauty: bone thin, small features and so forth and so on. even though i know she states in the above mission statement that this line celebrates women of color, i still think she represents us ALL well. big or small, short or tall, white or black.

good look queen!

I think some of you are putting to much emphasis on her weight in this case. This make up for black women. Not for big black women only. Not for slimmer black woman only. Just so happens that Queen is on the larger size.

I think when the person made the comment about her respresenting us she was talking about full figured women so yes the Queen is representing us and so is Halle, Gabrielle and all of the other black women who make us proud. No, every woman of color is not thick but for so long the only picture of a black woman is model thin like Halle (though I love her). I think the scales ( no pun intended) are finally balanced b/c it shows that black women no matter what shade are beautifful. I for one am happy there is representation.

i love me some Queenie. the girl can represent so many audiences (big women, black women, ladies who love ladies((and don’t get it twisted, just observe her!)) urban women. and i noticed in some of her speaking engagements, she’s toned down some a that new yawk hip hop language and attitude. i like that, it shows growth and maturity and realizing she can reach a broader audience. that translates into mo money, mo money, mo money. the american way, i ain’t mad atcha boo-boo. you inspire my daughter, with her big butt beautiful self. only problem i got wit queenie is, why she have to hurt them babies? them babies used to be so big and jigglysoft lookin, i just wanted to wrestle her ass, put my head between them boobies an go “bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!” she done gone and got by babies surgically reduced. member her in “set it off?” in that t-shirt? man, if she came to me in a long t-shirt, butt nekkid underneath wit a dildo in her hand, and tole me i can do her if she can do me, man, hulk no sissy-boy, hulk straight, but i think she coulda got it………….she foine to me!

No matter what, Queen hasn’t had plastic surgery to whiten her face, like Halle (*cough* nose job, etc), or lipo (*cough* Halle).

If she ever loses weight it will be the natural way. Her skin looks flawless btw, in the photos, and the makeup ad looks gorgeous, although one can tell it’s photoshopped to make her face look slightly thinner.

The whole concept of the collection was to celebrate the women of color, not what size they are.If people cant see the beauty in this collection just because of Queens size then that proves how insecure you are about your own flaws (brooklynchick and annonymous)! There are these same ol tired as folk on this site day after day commenting about people that probably look better than you and im sure much better at the bank! Leave to some women to make stupid ass comments like these!

Ummmm hateration ain’t the word. She is representing the beauty of the earth. A beautiful black woman. Why must everything be about size? Some folks need to take a look at their internal selves.

Yes, the Queen had a breast reduction but that doesn’t exactly go in the same category as nose jobs, lipo, etc. From what I understand that can be a bit of a neccesity sometimes. Carrying around jugs like the ones the had can be hell on your back and can hurt like hell. Of course I wouldn’t really know cause I was absent the day God passed out titties. But this was a smart move by Covergirl. I’m sure their reasoning was that she is a “real” woman. And more of the masses would feel that she was easier to relate to than a Halle. Of course she has been retouched to have a slimmer face, more defined cheek bones and no scar on the forehead but come on people, there isn’t a major campaign out there that doesn’t go through photoshop before being released. I don’t buy covergirl and I won’t lie and say I’m going to start now. But she looks beautiful. GO QUEEN!

I can tell you from experience that having huge boobs can be a real curse. I know you smaller-chested women out there are thinking “no way…I’d kill for that…” etc. etc. but let me tell you, I myself would love to fit in to regular clothes off the racks (NOTHING fits around my boobs without stretching out of shape. I haven’t worn a button-down anything in YEARS). Back pain is HORRIBLE. Menstruation-associated breast tenderness is absolute hell on me and there are days when I want to cut them off myself with a kitchen knife. I have to sleep in a sports bra, and during sore-boobs time I wear it 24/7. And inevitably, big breasts will sag eventually if they don’t already. And try finding nice lacy, sexy bras that fit correctly AND are comfortable.
But I wouldn’t want a flat chest, either…Give me a nice 36C and I’d be happy.
By the way, does anybody know how Queen did get that scar on her forehead?

I am looking for the cause for the scar on her forehead and I am way fouled by the slammers. Who do you think you are, can’t you be thankful there is a strong WOMAN- be she white black yellow or red skinned-WOMAN… that is leading a new generation of strong youth to achieve their dreams and strive to attain the respect that should be afforded to them without the hypocrisy. All those who are sitting on thier asses waiting to laugh when they stumble and take credit when they soar, you are pathetic and should you ever have to face yourselves, I pity the person you’ll see.
