Eva Longoria claims Poitier, others said it would be embarrassing for blacks.
Remember last month when I made a post about how Terrence Howard didn’t want to sing at the oscars? Well supposedly, the reason behind his decision was because a lot of A-List black actors told him not to. Read this:
According to the UK’s Mirror newspaper, Howard’s homegirl Eva Longoria said the actor was approached by several black stars, including Sidney Poitier, Denzel Washington and Will Smith, who have asked him not to perform the song during the telecast.
“Sidney Poitier said, ‘Do not get up there and represent the African American community singing about a pimp,’” Longoria told the newspaper (read more)..
See now this makes sense, Terrence didn’t have to lie to kick it, talking about “We don’t have time in the schedule to work all that stuff out, It took me seven months to find DJay and find that voice. I don’t think I could give it the full service that I gave it in the film.” What irks me about this whole situation, is that Black people are STILL going to perform the song. So technically, the African-American community is still going to be represented. They all have a point, but it makes me feel like they believe Terrence Howard is too good to perform the song. I dunno, that’s just how I take it in. Who knows how vaild Eva Longhoria’s claims are, I’m just saying..
