PRINCE ON AMERICAN IDOL??

Monday, April 3, 2006

NOW I HAVE TO SEE THIS TO BELIEVE IT..

NOTORIOUSLY shy Prince is willing to do anything to keep his album “3121″ at the top of the Billboard charts. Industry insiders say Prince is worried that his record, which recently debuted at No. 1, might drop off the charts next week. So his record company convinced him to go on “American Idol” to boost sales as Barry Manilow did earlier this year. “It wasn’t easy though,” said one source, “because Prince apparently hates the show and has never even watched it.” A rep for Prince didn’t return calls (source)

the worst part is that we might be forced to hear those losers butcher his songs… why?

Noooooooooooooooo. Is he that hard up for cash?!? He doesn’t need to do this. He is losing serious cool points now. The tweens who watch AI aren’t going to buy his album. This is tragic.

whatever. it may be selling out, but american idol is now a full-on cultural phenomenon like soul train and american bandstand were in their heydays.

I seriously don’t think he’s doing it for the money. This shows how humble he is…its like saying I’m not to good to come and show support to the ones tryna’ come up. Go Get ‘em Prince:-)

A-Boogie, I’m with you!!
That was truly the best concert. I was literally on my feet the entire time. If my man is on a talk show, reality show, comedy show, any show……I’m there. AND becasue I watch American Idol anyway, it’s a win-win situation. Go prince, do the damn thing !!

He’s not hard up for cash at all. I don’t understand the mindset that would suggest that.

He’s at the top of his game sure…but as long as you got breath inside of you the objective be it weither you make hit records or dig ditches is to bring your A game.

He still has a competitive spirit. And you ALWAYS want to do better than the work you’ve done before…make more money than you did last year…dig more ditches than you did yesterday…its either that or you’re taking up space.

At his level its not really about money in terms of paying a mortgage …its about solidifying a legacy that he’s highly invested in further creating and sealing.

Please, please Prince, don’t do American Idol!! The teeny boppers who watch the show don’t know and respect his music or talent. Prince is so above this, I hope it’s a rumor!

I don’t think he’s hard up for money if he’s paying $70,000 a month for a house that will never be his. Hell i’m bitchin about paying $700 for a one bedroom in Memphis. I’ll do american Idol too!

I’ll believe that mess when I see it. I know Prince loves attention, but I don’t think he loves it that much.

PRINCE AIN’T HAVING NO DAMN MONEY PROBLEMS. HE SELLS $40.00 CD’S, DO SOLD OUT CONCERTS EVERY BLUE MOON, WEARS THE SAME ASS-LESS CHAPS (NEVER GAINS A POUND, I’M JEALOUS), WHY THE EFF WOULD HE RUN OUT OF MONEY? PRINCE IS THE SMART, AND HUMBLE, AND QUIET (JUST THE WAY I LIKE MY CELEBRITIES) AND DID I FORGET TO MENTION RICH?

Prince…You’re our a hero of mine and one of the best musicians in the world…but uou continue to mishandle your marketing, videos, music and career. On stage, their is no one better, but please, give us another 1999, Dirty Mind, Controversy, Prince (self titled 2nd album) and or Purple Rain. And give us a true sequel to Purple Rain the movie, let us see how the kid turned out, etc. Maybe it could be about a fallen pop star who returns to claim his crown from now impressario Morris
Day who owns and runs a rap lable ala Suge Knight. “There’s
no place for real musicians any more…Just drum machines and rappers,” he says to the Kid (Prince before he walks on stage and blows away a jaded crowd of rap and pop music fans and mogals at a packed industry award show…as he’s backed by the Revolution, his original band. Now that’s a cool ending needing a beginning middle to go with it!

And about videos, dude, you’ve got to spend more money…hire Little X and Hype Williams, do something huge! Show Michael Jackson how to do a real video, the kind that will turn out Thriller, Beat It and Billy Jean!!! Work with rappers like Missy Elliot, Ludacris and Eminem. Bring on singers like Beyonce and Bands like the Roots!!!

As far as the music, bring back the funk, give us a Lady Cab Driver, DMSR, When Doves Cry, Little Red Corvette, Erotic City, etc.!!! People have so many ways to spend their money and time these days, you’ve got to get them with a big commercial hook,
after hook after hook! Where are the cool remixes you used to do? And Long versions of your songs…Diddy claims he invented the remix but we know better don’t we!!!

Sorry for the typos above…It’s getting late and I’m tired!!!

PS: Do American Idol, Prince!!!
…The Tweens will be introduced to good music
for once and their parents will
tune in to watch you!Show them what a fraud the Britney Spears, Linsey Lohan’s and Justin Timberlake’s of the world are…The shame of Good Charlotte,Simple Plan,Hillery Duff and the rest of these manufactured fakes!!!

You have a real chance to blow a hole into the machine and turn kids on to something great right on their own fucking pop citadel…American idol itself!!!It’ll be a marketing masterpiece!!! We know that you ain’t a sell-out…it’s just time for you to educate these kids!

It’s about musicianship, not Pro-tools, pre-recorded
backing tracks, and gimmicks! Continue your Musicology…Get on that American Idol stage and blow them the fuck away!!!…Purple Rain anyone?

#16 thank you thats what i was trying to say also when you’ve made it to that success stevie wonder micheal jackson prince its not about mainstream you’ve made it unlike those who have to worry about staying around these people these day have no true talents they can’t sing or don’t be singing about nothing. true talents thats what they were and are thats why they still have loyal fans still sell out after these many years off of old songs. these today here and gone

to #28 I believe theres a season for everything and prince is an old timer not like these new entertainers that exactly what they do entertain. If you really think about those stars back in the day didn’t do all that their true talent was enough. these artists today have to do all they can they surely aren’t gonna last only off music. and for purple rain some things you just leave as gold like some songs don’t need to be remade but people still try. purple rain needs to stay just like that a classic.
