PROOF’S FUNERAL HELD TUESDAY

Thursday, April 20, 2006

The funeral of rapper Deshaun “Proof” Holton at the Fellowship Chapel April 19, 2006 in Detroit, Michigan. Proof’s funeral was attended by several thousand people. His solid bronze, 24K gold-plated casket cost $48,000.

According to MTV, Eminem broke down while giving his testimonial. Here is a quote:

“He taught me how to be a leader. I’m sure everybody who has ever met him, even just once, can testify to the fact that he illuminated a room when he walked in it. I believe that Proof loved people and people loved him. … Without Proof, there would be no Eminem, no Slim Shady, no D12.”

Obie Trice also spoke about the violence..

“I want to talk to the black men in here that’s coming up in the ‘hood, coming up in the struggle, we’re killing each other, dawg. And it’s about nothing. Nothing. Nothing. We’re all dying … over nothing.”

No disrespect to Proofs family and friends….I am all for having a nice funeral to honour the dead but…..I am sorry $48,000 for a ‘blinged out’ gold casket is such a waste to me. When he was alive he did not sleep in such an expensive bed and he sure does not need one now.
Do they know what that money could have done for the kids in crime infested communities of run down Detroit? They could have honoured his life in a more productive way. imo
They should have used that money to set up after school programs for youth like that little boy standing in the pic….so he wont end up shooting someone in the future, or getting involved in crime or becoming a teen dad.

Maybe I am biased becuase I hate how funeral homes rip off the mourning families. I told my family I want to be buried in a cardboard box and one simple bunch of my fav flowers… and for my friends and family to donate the money they would have spent on a satin lined coffin and expensive flowers to my fav charity.

^^@lala…so what they spent the money if they got it like that fine…don’t jump to conclusions now the man has passed away and im sure he was loved by many…the real story isnt how much they spent it is how us black men are killing each other over a parking spot, someone steppin on your shoes, etc

I’m surprised nobody shot up the funeral; after all, they did have a bomb threat at the church that day. I don’t care if a casket costs $1.00 or $100,000 I don’t believe in sticking folks in the ground (regardless of who they are) when they can be creamated, and the living can live on or make some type of use of the land. The guy that Proof shot in the face died after a few days and his funeral is coming up soon. I hope people show respect and allow his family to have peace during that time. Yeah, the picture of that little boy sort of reminded me of the famous JFK Jr. salute photo, but that’s about it-it doesn’t say much else to me, other than “Where’s his mama?” D12’s Swift got an arrest warrant for skipping court and going to the funeral instead. He was supposed to be in court for sentencing for drunk driving charges. He is expected to be sent to jail because of it. Nobody’s funeral (family or friends) is worth jail time to me.

Another life lost and all anybody can talk about is how much the casket cost. So what? There’s more money out there. If ppl think that $48,000 could go towards opening up a education center or other postitive purpose, then let’s get out there and raise that $48G so a youth center can be build. If every rapper just give at least $1000 instead of spending it on hoes, cristal and blings, there’d be more than $48G for that youth center. I bet the people talking are the last ones to donate $1 to help build a community center.
We wanna talk about the $48G casket, talking about how it can go towards education center. Instead of bashing his friends and family for spending so much money of THEIR money on their loved one, we should be bashing Bush and finding a way for him to get out of office because he’s spent over $274 Billion (Billion not Million) on this senseless war. You know how many education centers could be open with that kind of cash? To top it all off, it’s all taxpayer’s money..yours and mine. And if you’re dumb enough to say “well, I’m on welfare so I don’t pay taxes, it ain’t my money” then you’re just plain stupid. Stop hating people and how they spend their money. That’s not important. What’s important is how money for our children’s books and schools are being sent to Iraq. Now Proof is gon be laying in that thing for eternity, let him rest in peace.

Really? I thought I heard he had a wife. Maybe that’s why the news reports said little about his family. They probably didn’t want to bring up the subject of a person being so heavily admired/looked up to and having an out of wedlock flock. Not necessarily the makings of a role model, regardless of who he was, what he did, or how much money he made. I agree w/lala. I hate to see funeral homes take families for a ride. It’s much cheaper to rent a casket. Proof went out like Luther Vandross(in a gold casket).

I think its ironic how we will gosip about even the dead… I pray as well that the other victim’s (who Proof allegedly shot) family will have a peaceful funeral as well. $48,000 is alot of money and I cringed when I first read that, but the bottom line is that money doesnt matter. I believe that ultimately God matters and how we are living our lives before we get shot. Yeah, that money could have gone towards alot of things, but it didnt. If God wants to start programs for kids He will…he doesnt need Proof’s families $48,000 that He gave to them anyway. Let’s pray for D12, and Superhead and stop talking about them. I am sooo guilty of it. Let this man die and stop talking about him and what his family buried him in. It’s senseless, but apparently so are we…

Death is a very FINAL part of life. People mourn in diffent ways folx. If his family had the money to spend on the funeral, that’s their decision. I know when my brother died, I wouldn’t have told my mom how much to spend on it. If she wanted to spend $48K, I wouldn’t have said a word because that was my only brother and you cannot put a price on LOVE! C’mon yall, let’s be real! So he wasn’t totally innocent as he first appeared to be. I was shocked when I heard it. These niggas was shooting to kill & both lost.
48g’s? Yeah that’s about 10grand a piece in a trust fund for each of his kids. That would have been more productive than spent on a casket the world will never see again. The way these muhfuckas throw away money who’s gonna help be able to take care of the kids by next year?

I have a friend in Detroit and she said there were rumors going around that someone had slipped him some ecstasy and that was why he wiiged out. 48,000 is alot for a funeraal but if that’s what the family wanted for him the so be it.He worked for the money so it shouldn’t matter how it’s spent. It’s easy for us to say what could have been done with the money but what we really need to focus on is are we doing our part. Even if we don’t have the money to donate we can still donate our time to alot of worthy organizations. Remeber people “Practice what you preach” When we start doing out part then we can comment on others.

Someone should have told him that if you are not a police officer or law enforcement, it wouldn’t be wise to carry a loaded gun (whether licensed or not. And if oyu had to worry about protecting your life, you should change the places you frequent, like the ghetto clubs on the 8 mile..

who care’s about how much the casket cost? eminem is worth well over $50 million. so what is $48,000?. as for swift, i don’t blame him for missing his court date. going through all this legal trouble for proof goes to show how much he loved him. and i just had a thought. if proof was shot in the chest, is’nt there a chance that Bender may have shot him first? then proof shot back, then his cousin finished the job?…Bender’s cousin is reported to have shot proof only 3 times. But Proof’s report said he was hit 4 times. so who fired the 4th bullet?…i was just thinking… and HOW do we know proof actually shot first?. The story of proof shooting first came from Bender’s lawyer and witnesses who were also associates of bender and his cousin. All this is coming from Bender’s side. Notice how Most of the articles say proof “ALLEGEDY” shot the man. and my Big question is WHO was proof with at this club?. i don’t think he was By himself. and plus, another man was arrested. we have’nt heard anything from anyone on proof’s side. All this confusion is the result of sloppy police work…PEOPLE PLEASE STOP JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS. THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT REALLY KNOW WHAT HAPPENED IS PROOF AND BENDER. I DOUBT WE’LL EVER KNOW THE TRUTH. LET’S JUST LET THEM REST IN PEACE

1. It would be stupid to think Proof, a regular at this club decides one night to go off and shoot some dude in the face cuz he didn’t like his attitude, and then goes further to say “matter of fact, I think I’ll kill that bouncer I see EVERY WEEK”

2. From everyone who knew Proof, he’s not the type to get into an argument and then think he’ll just shoot this person. He has a family, he’s got a career, he is a REGULAR at this nightclub. If he had a temperment like that, I think it would be obvious. He wasn’t that kind of person. SOMETHING made him reach for his gun. Considering he’s known to carry one, and yet we’ve never heard of him ever pulling it on anyone. I’d say it is safe to say that he doesn’t usually engage his arguments with a shot in the face! The question should be WHAT WAS DIFFERENT THIS TIME

3. The police can rarely be trusted, and I wouldn’t trust them now, especially if they’re saying dude might not be charged. If you shoot someone 3 or 4 times who was not even arguing with you MUCH less attacking you, it CANNOT be self defence! FOR THE POLICE AND MEDIA TO INSINUATE THERE “MIGHT NOT” BE A CHARGE SHOWS EXTREME BIAS. The question is WHY???

4. and Obviously Bender’s cousin was not around at the beginning cuz if he was then it would never have gotten this far. I mean, the guy is as big as a house. don’t you think he would have broke it up? and Obviously when he showed up, he shot Proof without thinking and then latered claimed self defence.

1st of all i am from detroit and i really dont appreciate the comments about our city being run down and ghetto(we do have nice areas and places) cause in every state where an area has a high number of blacks they automatically call it the “ghetto” for years detroit has had these labels and it doesnt matter if its here or any other state. the bottom line is both of these families lost somebody they loved and even if proofs family hadnt given him this extravagant casket and used the money towards something else how far would $48,000 go?it wont fix the problem we have in every urban area in every state with our young black youth (esp black males) in detroit there are hardly any afterschool programs, they have laid off city workers, bus drivers, cops and firefighters, this is supposed to be the motor city and all the auto plants are closing down, unemployment is at its highest, no security in our schools, schools closed down, crime is off the chain, and guns are easy to get! the $48,000 proofs family spent on his casket aint gonna make a dent in these problems our black youth needs some of that money from this so called war!

i’m from Detroit and i considered Proof to be a friend. all this gossiping and badmouthing of Proof AND my city is getting on my nerves.

it’s not an exaggeration…that dude was the spine of Detroit hip hop. i can’t stress that hard enough with mere keystrokes. he made a lot of people in our hip hop community (myself included) proud to call Detroit home and to represent it to the fullest.

i’m not making light of the situation…but he was a better person than this. i can’t imagine what must have went down for him to react like that.

the Proof that I know isn’t the thug that some of y’all are making him out to be. i wasn’t there so i can’t speculate on what happened, but what i do know is that it is a COMPLETE tragedy. nobody won. not Proof, not Keith Bender and not Bender’s cousin.

i’m not gonna get into P’s family business, but at one point he WAS married…so stop those rumors. PLEASE.

RIP Keith Bender & RIP Big Proof…this place won’t be the same without you.

TO COMMENT 44: wow! you really have some good points. i did’nt even think about all that. proof’s leagacy is all messed personally don’t believe Proof shot first, because 3 of the bullets entered the back of his head and back. which meant that his back was turned when bender’s cousin shot him. but ONE bullet entered his chest, which meant that another bullet hit him from the front. The question is Who shot him from the front?.. I believe Bender shot first.

yeah, if he’s shot 3 times in the back of his head and back, that means that Mario Ensterige shot him while he was turned around. and if he’s shot once in the chest, that means that someone shot him from the front. probably bender. i did’nt think about that

Oh the conspiracy theories. I’ll wait for a complete and final report, and the case to be considered closed, rather than speculate on how the whole thing might have gone down. If there are no murder charges, that should be taken up with lawmakers at the state capital. Those are the ones that make it lawful for someone to shoot to protect those considered to be in danger, and likely the reason why there are no murder charges at this time or at all. It’s easier for some of us to discuss the rights and wrongs of policing, crime, gun laws, etc. on the Internet than it is to talk to our politicians. How many of us are willing to do that? Nobody is listening to us out here. Had the laws and penalties been different, the punishment may have been different. At the same time if more people had considered their priorities and better control over themselves, and their weapons, some of them would still be here. In many cases I don’t believe it is right to blame the police, “the man”, or “the system” for things that we could have realistically avoided ourselves.

Damn people. I’m sure that Eminem paid for the funeral and he can afford to spend it and maybe wanted to do it to lay his friend at rest. For those that CAN’T afford it, yes, it’s ridiculous to spend that much on a funeral. But I would urge folks to have a plan if you know that it would be a strain on your family to bury you, make some plans so that if it happens, it won’t be.
As far as this tragedy goes, its interesting that there are more posts on the Superhead board than this one. We care more about a porn video than a young man who lost his life, regardless of the circumstances? Make that two young men that lost their lives. We can send a man to the moon, get cigarette companies to stop fradulent advertising, IM, email and use phones anywhere we want but WE CANT GET BLACK MEN TO STOP KILLING EACH OTHER!! Isn’t it time that someone started a major, national campaign to make that as socially unacceptable as smoking has become?

He offered me to do a fashion show at the hip-hop shop and he didn’t even know what my skill level was. We both didn’t have a car at the time and he was going to catch a cab to my house to bring me some chinese food. I said that to say he was like your very own motivational speaker. He always lifted my spirits. That was many moons ago and we all have different sides. Who cares what the casket cost his best friend picked up the tab and he could afford it. And yes Detroit is raggedy than a mutha and I get depressed everytime I visit, but it also has its gems Indian Village, Sherwood Forest and down by the Riverfront to name a few. Detroit is probably one of the only major cities that is black from top to bottom and that is one of its problems. Sudan Relief Efforts Could Collapse Soon By NICK WADHAMS, Associated Press Writer

The relief effort in Sudan’s Darfur region could collapse within weeks unless foreign donors contribute more money and the government eases restrictions that have slowed aid workers, the top U.N. humanitarian official said Thursday.

Jan Egeland told the U.N. Security Council that just 20 percent of relief work in Darfur has been funded this year. The international community has stopped pressuring Sudan’s government or Darfur’s rebels to cooperate with aid groups.

“We simply cannot sustain this massive relief effort much longer,” Egeland told the Security Council. “The government has again been imposing restrictions that make our work a daily struggle and administrative nightmare. And funding is dwindling rapidly, as we had feared.”

A three-year conflict between Darfur’s rebels and the Arab-dominated central government has caused about 180,000 deaths — most from disease and hunger — and displaced 2 million people.

Egeland, the U.N. undersecretary for humanitarian affairs, said the number of relief workers in Sudan has grown from 230 helping 350,000 people in 2004 to 14,000 relief workers helping 3.5 million people now.

Yet more than 200,000 people who need food to survive are not getting it, and 650,000 people are beyond the reach of aid workers, he said.

Sudan’s government kicked out the Norwegian Refugee Council and has delayed giving visas to other groups. Aid workers also face “a constant stream of threats and a climate of intimidation,” he said, while rebel groups hijack humanitarian vehicles “at an alarming rate.”

There have been reports of stolen World Food Program trucks ferrying Sudanese government troops, and fighters mounting machine guns on relief trucks that still bear the flags and stickers of their original owners, Egeland said.

The government barred Egeland himself from visiting Darfur and the Sudanese capital Khartoum when he went to the region earlier this month. Egeland said at the time he suspected the government did not want him to see what was happening there.

Only one country, Britain, has contributed more money for the Darfur crisis in 2006 than it did in 2005, Egeland said. Asked to estimate how much longer the relief effort could last, he said it was “a matter of weeks if not months,” and that the situation would be far worse by mid-June.

“I don’t think anyone wants, 10 years after Rwanda, to see a collapse in Darfur and it can still be averted,” Egeland said.

His comments echoed those made recently by the U.N. special adviser on prevention of genocide, who said nations still seem unwilling to commit the troops and money that would be needed to stop other mass slaughters of civilians despite repeated promises of “never again.”

Security Council ambassadors said they would keep discussing the Darfur crisis, but no diplomats emerged from the meeting with new promises of concrete action.

China’s ambassador insisted that Beijing was doing its part, while Greece’s ambassador laughed when a reporter asked if his nation would contribute more money.

“It’s a collective decision, you have to be aware of that,” Ambassador Adamantios Vassilakis said.

Deputy U.S. Ambassador Jackie Sanders said the United States would push forward “on a number of fronts” and that contributing more money is always under discussion.

The United States has described the violence in Darfur as genocide, and last week, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice called for speedy deployment of a U.N. peacekeeping force to Darfur.

The African Union agreed in principle to hand over the duties of a 7,000 strong AU force to the United Nations, but the efforts have stalled partly because Sudan opposes the move.

No Western nations offered significant troop numbers for the new force. Egeland said African and Asian armies — traditionally the leading contributors to peacekeeping forces — must not bear the burden.

“I think it’s a bad thing that Western countries, including Europeans are not offering soldiers, peacekeepers, policemen, to Africa,” Egeland said. “Africa is the biggest drama of our time, nowhere else in the world are so many lives at stake as in Africa.”

Hey #65 (SHALOSH), What does that lengthy post about Darfur, Africa have to do with Proof, or the Detroit hip-hop/rap scene? Sorry, but I can’t do a damn thing for them. ANYWAY…rolls eyes and sucks teeth>>>

and Detroit is the only major urban city that until recently hadn’t rebuilt since the riots of the 60s. The downtown got lost in the late 70s and early 80s and i’m not talking about the casino haven it is today. I’m talking about the shopping district downtown. I used to live in Detroit and there’s a once beautiful area that niggas have fucked up and now call little beirut. yeah sure, every city has its problems, but detroit is a shell of its self. then to boot you have a fucked up criminal mayor.
^^^^
and speaking of criminals, among the short list of people that were awarded keys to the city of Detroit are none other than Saddam Hussein, who was given a key back in 1980 for donating money to area churches.

I live in America and don’t need to read about Darfur to learn about genocide. America has its own version of it. I’ll worry about Darfur when those inbred, suicidal/homicidal/genocidal and uncivilized idiots start fighting in my back yard in America. Otherwise I don’t care who they are, what they do (to each other), or what color they are. If they won’t make peace and develop their own country, don’t make it my problem. I’m not looking for another reason to justify sending our U.S. resources (tax dollars, military forces, and politicians, etc.) outside of the country to help anybody, when folks in the United States need help as well. Apparently that story isn’t discussion worthy here, perhaps it would be better received elsewhere.

My compassion goes to the victims and families/loved ones of Detroit affected by events surrounding the shootings at the club on 8 mile. That happened in Detroit and not in Darfur. What happens to Americans north, south, east, and west is something I care about. ALSO call me what you want, but if you have to resort to personal attacks against me to get your point across, you are wasting your time. There is no way you are going to get the best of me with a keyboard. A keybooard? Aw, come on now. To come after a stranger on the Internet makes you no better than those spearchuckers (that I could care less about) attacking each other in Darfur, and makes no sense.

Oh how I want to believe that the facial tattoos in those photos are made of some temporary/wash off stuff. Please tell me they don’t plan on going through life like that. Pimps won’t be the only ones having it hard out here.

carrying a gun, shooting people and hanging around a crowd that carries gun too…..bad judgement

48, 000 casket when they had an opportunity to do something positive to honour the name of their friend…bad judgement

these silly rappers, and they wonder why they get bad press. These rappers need to step up and care more about thier communities and people…and stop worrying about the bling so much.

did anyone catch Oprah yesterday. This white families 11 year old daughter died in a car accident and her family donated 10,000 + her allowance money she was saving before her death….to a South African childrens centre for abandoned and abused kids. What a wonderful way to honour someones life.

BTW what has Eminem donated to his people of Detroit?

actually after reading the details of the case, he shot someone in the head before he was shot…I am not surprised his friends were stupid enough to spend so much money on a casket. Him and his associates have a history of bad and stupid choices…so 48,000 on a casket is just another expression of their bad choices and poor judgement. His poor children.

To all the people commenting on the $48,000 casket what you don’t understand is that when you have a best-friend like Eminem who is worth over $70,000,000
dollars then 48,000 dollars is like 48 dollars for a regular person. If that is their way of sending him off it is not your business to comment on how they should have spent THEIR money. It is true that the money COULD have been spent on a charity or something but you can make that argument about any purchase or luxury that any one of us have. For example, I can say to anyone of you that have cars “why did you buy that $17,000 car when you can use that money for a charity and just take the bus.” I hope you see my point.

#71,

african and african-american agenda is connected. The problem is that black people don’t understand unity!!!
The people in Darfur are not dying because they are in a different location, they are dying because they are black.

It isn’t in anyone’s interest to help them. They don’t have the oil and they don’t look European. I hate to put it that way, but it is the truth!!

If we as black people don’t try to help them ,who will???

Notice when the ILLEGAL immigrants were marching (mostly Mexicans)? Other Hispanics don’t care that bringing so many uneducated low wage workers could be a burden on this country, they just care about the plight of Hispanics, not Mexican or Puerto Rican.

The only thing I can say to an African youth right now is GET AN EDUCATION. LEARN ABOUT ANY AND EVERYTHING. AND ANYTHING THAT COMES EASY IS MOST LIKELY ILLEGAL!

I WILL TELL U WHY $48000—MAKES NO SENSE!

ASIDE FROM THE FACT THAT THE MONEY COULD HAVE BEEN USED TO BENEFIT & HELP LESS FORTUNATE PEOPLE THAN HE WAS/CHARITIES/SCHOOLS/etc…

(I know about burials & costs etc.. because sadly I lost my twin brother in a car crash back in December 2000 at the age of 23)we spent about $5000 to put him in the ground-decent casket, nothing big.

I DONT SEE THE POINT IN PUTTING $48000 IN THE GROUND! (I wonder what was placed INSIDE the CASKET-alot of young men from my block killed through gun violence & a life of drug dealing–their familes would put jewelry/photos/sneakers/liquour bottles/cologne etc…in the CASKET w/them). NOW…WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS…

DO THEY “THINK” THESE “VALUABLE CASKETS” & MERCHANDISE THE PERSON MAY BE WEARING OR THAT’S PLACED IN THE CASKET AFTER “BURIAL” STAYS IN THE CASKET & CASKET STAYS IN THE “GROUND” YEAR AFTER YEAR…& YEARS AFTER THAT?

GRAVES ARE “ROBBED” EVERY DAY…UNLESS YOU HAVE YOUR LOVED ONES GRAVE “DUG UP” ON “EVERY VISIT YOU MAKE AT HIS GRAVE SITE” WOULD YOU ACTUALLY & HONESTLY “KNOW” FOR CERTAIN THAT THAT EXPENSIVE CASKET IS STILL IN THAT GROUND OR THAT YOUR LOVED ONE STILL IS WEARING THAT EXPENSIVE SUIT, JEWELRY, & HOLDING THAT EXPENSIVE BOTTLE OF “CRISTAL” U BURRIED HIM WITH.

DO U THINK…YOUR LOVED ONES DIAMOND JEWELRY & RINGS WILL REMAIN ON THEIR BODIES & IN THEIR CASKETS UNTIL THE END OF TIME?

HELL-TO-THE-NO!!! GRAVE ROBBERS–WILL DIG THAT GRAVE (they may work for the cemetary or may be a couple of outsiders) & THEY WILL ROB & STEAL EVERYTHING OF VALUE “EXCEPT” THAT DEAD BODY!!!

CASKETS/JEWELRY/WATCHES/CLOTHES (you name it) THEY DID IT TO THE “EGYPTIAN QUEENS & KINGS” (waaaay back then) WHAT MAKES YOU BELIEVE YOUR LOVED ONE IS EXEMPT TO IT WHEN THEY ARE 6 FEET UNDER?

THEN WHAT? IT WOULD END UP $48000 DOWN THE DAMN DRAIN ANY ‘OL WAY!!!

THEN THERE IS “THE HORSE DRAWN CARRIAGE”…EVER SINCE AALIYAH’S FUNERAL–EVERY CELEBRITY WANTS THEIR LOVED ONE SENT BACK HOME LIKE A PRINCE OR PRINCESS—CINDERELLA & HER PRINCE!! (MORE MONEY)!!

SURE THEY HAVE IT TO SPEND BUT LIKE “LALA” WAS SAYING: SPEND ON SOMETHING MORE “PRODUCTIVE”…INSTEAD UP PUTTING IT IN THE GROUND.

IT’S GOING TO GET DUG UP & SOLD ALL OVER AGAIN ANYWAY! PEOPLE WHO WORK IN THE CEMETARY & FUNERAL HOME BUSINESS (& I knew a man who did it for many years & he’d tell us the stories) SEE THINGS DIFFERENT THAN US PEOPLE WHO DONT. TO THEM ITS JUST A “DEAD” BODY–GOING BACK TO BONES & DUST ANY WAY..

ITS A WASTE TO BUY IT–PLAIN & SIMPLE, 48 G’s?
BECAUSE IT “WONT” STAY DOWN THERE (buried)! DONT DO IT PEOPLE EVEN IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT. NO MATTER HOW “SICK” IT SOUNDS–

PEOPLE DO IT…PEOPLE ROB GRAVES ITS A “HUSTLE” & JUST BECAUSE YOUR LOVED ONE WAS “FAMOUS” dont mean a damn thing to these GRAVE DIGGERS!!

88.

———————————
Tianna,
I cosign….I know people who work in the funeral industry and when I told them about this casket they laughed and said….oh that will be dug up and resold, guaranteed.
Remember the recent scandal where funeral homes were selling human body parts to medical research companies, without the families permission.
Do you think these money hungry business people would hesitate to dig up qand resell a casket? Be smart.

The man is not even alive to enjoy this lavish casket. So really what is the point.
I dont need to spend $$$$ to prove my love to my friends and family. $$$$ is not an expression of love. You are supposed to show your love to the person when they are alive…when they are dead it is too late.
But a lot of these silly little rappers obviously have no common sense. Stupid is as stupid does

Ok I searched the web for about 1/2hr to be fair, and his website for any charity organizations or donations from Eminem.
I found not ONE thing. Since 48,000 to him is like 48 dollars to the average American you would think he would be giving a little more frequantly…since like many have stated its nothing to him.
————
I did find one statement about this shooting I really liked:

“People must be held accountable for their own actions and given a chance to change but if they fail to do so they must be cut loose without a single tear. If some people know that they can continue to act in stupid, foolish and self destructive ways and still get standing in the community they will not be encouraged to change their behavior.”

And it would make a big differnce if black people would put money toward’s thing that’s really important like there hood’s,center’s,bank accounts etc, to better us and our people. It’s sad to say but not all us think like that. We’re to busy hating each other this is why black people as awhole have nothing. We don’t stick together or try to help better each other,Some us do but not enough.

Swift is looking kind of old to be out doing dumb stuff. I hope, while he sits in jail, he takes time to reflect on the lives of those that have gone before (like Proof, Biggie, Tupac and others), and use that to help turn his life around. I can’t see where skipping court was worth it. Sorry but I would have just viewed the body the day before the funeral, and caught the actual funeral service on video and photo later, rather than make life worse for me and my family because I went to visit someone (in a casket). Not worth it. He’ll have time to think about it from behind bars, as he pays his debt to society. http://www.detnews.com/ap...p;SearchID=73242431357910

WHEN WILL BLACK PEOPLE LEARN?

LALA…YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT IN ALL THAT YOU SAID IN THIS BLOG–EVERY THING.

ITS REALLY SAD THAT BLACK PEOPLE ARE SOOOO SUPERFICIAL & MATERIALISTIC–ALL-THE-DAMN-TIME, SO MUCH SO THAT THEY BECOME “BLIND” TO THINGS THAT “REALL MATTER” & “MEAN SOMETHING” IN LIFE.

IF ALL OF THESE “BLACK” RAPPERS/CELEBRITIES WOULD “PULL TOGETHER” & PUT THEIR MONEY INTO THESE “LESS FORTUNATE” BLACK & HISPANIC “COMMUNITIES & NEIGHBORHOODS” AS MUCH AS THEY PUT INTO THEIR BENTLYS/BMW/JAGUAR-DESIGNER SHOES & CLOTHES, JEWELRY/DIAMOND GRILLS & 12 BEDROOM MANSIONS…

MAYBE OUR NEIGHBORHOODS WOULDN’T BE CONSIDERED “URBAN” LOWER CLASS OR “LESS FORTUNATE”.

THESE RAPPERS “REPRESENT” WHERE THEY COME FROM & DAMN NEAR KILL EACH OTHER (in rap wars) OVER WHO REPRESENTS EACH BOROUGH OR CITY THE BEST…

BUT HOW MUCH MONEY DO THESE RAPPERS ACTUALLY GIVE BACK TO THE NEIGHBORHOODS & CITIES THEY REPRESENT SOOO HARD IN THEIR LYRICS?

HMMMMMMMMM.
