cool video but if I were Gabrielle, I would never be in a video with a man calling me his “bi*ch” It just doesn’t sound right.

Busta is a fugly gutless bitch ass mf. Snitching is something one criminal does to another. For law abiding people it’s called being a witness. Well, what goes around comes around. You’ll be looking for witnesses one day. That’s damn near a certainty. Punk!

BG I understand that to a lot of people, black people are supposed to find it normal to disrespect one another (yeah it’s music but at the end of the day it’s disrespectful). I believe in calling a spade a spade, and in this case the sh*t is wrong. I know it’s the unedited version and they will clean up the dirty version so it’s acceptable for television, but at the end of the day, when are we just going to become the cleaned up version? I listen to hip hop and R&B but I’m not going to front like some of the stuff doesn’t leave a bad taste in my mouth. I’m not trying to preach, but right is right and wrong is wrong. It just doesn’t sound right to me and no man of mine will ever call ME A BITCH!!!

And about Gabrielle, I don’t know her, but I do know that this is the type of career move that can break an actress if people get fired up enough. she is a grown woman and she has the power to make better career choices. When do you see Angela Bassett in music videos that speak poorly of black women? I have a blog and sometimes I feel like I’m always preaching on it but you know what….I’ll be a preacher if it means me telling the truth.

This is simply my opinion and what would this blog be without different opinions?

Tea Cup,
Preach sista preach. Unfortunately some people are not wise and mature enough to listen

“but at the end of the day, when are we just going to become the cleaned up version?”

Love the above statement!
When it becomes acceptable and common place and NORMAL, even when it is a clear violation of boundaries, in a culture to call a woman a bitch, like if you are calling her sweetheart…..then we cant be surprised when other boundaries are DISRESPECTED and violated….i.e. Star’s nasty sexually violent comments about a 4 yr old girl.
Yes there are boundaries people….even with Free Speech!

I even heard LARRY FLYNT, the biggest promoter of Free Speech, sadly and with great concern say in an interview, that porn has gone way to far, that certain boundaries have been crossed that should NEVER have!!!!!!
Now if this man who is far from being a prude can understand the importance of the concept of BOUNDARIES……well if that is not a wake up call, then I dont know what is.

And people wonder why Oprah has a problem with most hip hop artists.

My whole purpose for looking at the video was to see Kellis..And i dont understand why he couldn’t just keep as chick instead of “bi**h” ..And i wish somebody would even try to give him a good excuse for using that word cause there is none, its just kinda uncalled for..

I do like the video though :)

Tea Cup #5: I co-sign that shit!!!! Radio version / dirty version, it’s all the same. We know damn well what they mean. I am a hip-hop fan at heart, but i can’t beleive the way “SOME” woman Degrade themselves and then turn around and try to force-feed the issue on the rap culture.

But if you really think about it it is not just Rap music female artists do the same things they think that sexy=half naked or barely there clothing. As far as the lyrics yeah they are bad, plus it seems like Artists alwasy trying to copy a White movie like Lauryn Hill said While ya’ll trying to be Al Capone I’m trying to be Nina Symone.

19.

Watch_and_Learn

Ya’ll know this is going to be the “summer love” anthem on all the playgrounds. Let’s see how cute this song is when you hear your 6 year-old singing “I love my B*tch” around the house.

DAMN BLACK PEOPLE, those before us have sacraficed too much for us to blatantly disrespect ourselves! We need to stop allowing ourselves to be bitches, hoes, boos, and baby mamas and take our places as Women, Wives, Mothers… everything that God has called us to be as the Daughters of His destiny. Our purpose in life is not to be compared to a female dog! I don’t care how much we try to desensitize the term; the origin of the word remains the same. While our ancestors are weeping at the state of the black mind, our white counterparts are content…we are doing the damage they’ve been attempting to do since forever. It’s as if we are purposely trying to negate everything people like Soujurner Truth stood and died for.

By all means, I want to come across preachy because common sense needs to be spoken.

On that note-

As it was stated before: Where was the originality in that video? If they were going to do a reenactment they could’ve at least done a better job at imitating.

LOL, OK. I agree, using chic sounds better. But here come the hypocrits. Yall are some hypocrits for real. I aint even gonna lie, ever damn rapper uses bitches/hoes etc in their lyrics and yall stil buy that shit. Common, all of a sudden yall surprised a rapper said bitch? hahaha, man what are you guys blind. Its been many rap videos with black female actresses playing roles in them. And the songs had the word bitch and pther vulgar words. I honestly aint got time to list the videos. Were were yall. why aint yall boycott them videos? If you dont want a rapper saying bitch then u might as well not listen to 80% of rap u listen too now. Yall the ones that be buying the albums. Even common and talib kwali say bitch. The whole g-unit, Mase, game, lil jon, etc, all them rappers use it. Maybe jack frost was right, most yall some hipocrits. And someone above was trying to compare this to star saying shit avout the 4 year old chic.

Bottom line, the video will be edited. and radio is too. If you dont like the word bitch then please dont buy the album. Also please dont buy that nigga 50 cent album, dont buy lloyd banks album, dont buy 80 percent of rappers albums. Yall the ones making em rich when the use derogitory lyrics. Yall still buying the albums of these rappers. Puttin money in they pockets, then the next day u turn around and say “ohhh, he used the word bitch”. Its ur choice, I aint buying the albums, heck its been 2 years since i bought a original album since i can just get the bootleg or get a download. If yall aint feeling it, boycott his album then. SO he know whats up! Take some action. Yall sitting around aint gonna do nothing.

Oh no BG you shouldnt have gone there. You are beginning to sound like jackass frost. Be careful!
How the hell do you know what type of music we listen to and buy? I dont spend my money on shit. Some of us like real music and will buy and support an India, Jill Scott, Goapele, Floetry, world music, classical music, etc. Keep your assumptions to yourself. Just because we are black we must be buying these rappers music? Just because we are black we cant have various music tastes? Are you serious? Actually the biggest buyers of this crap is white kids so get your facts straight.

I think that’t the problem right there. People think because we’ve accepted it for years, we should continue to. And I know it’s been in rap videos for years but does that justify it? Come the hell on…the chorus of the song is “I love my bitch, I love you nigga.” It’s not only disrespectful to black women but also to black men. And BG, I can’t remember the last time I’ve purchased a hip hop album, and it hasn’t even been on purpose. A lot of stuff is not even worthy of $12 so why bother. I think music sucks right now!! And it’s sad because these artists are really talented!! Just like we were supposed to accept Nelly sliding the card down a girl’s booty on “Tip Drill” because ‘It’s hip hop,’ when you get older, things should start to fall into a better place. I don’t know about you, but I’m not buying this crap at all.

And Ditto to what lala said about the type of music we buy. I like a whole bunch of different music. Rap like this is at the bottom. I might listen to it on the radio sometimes, but I don’t ever buy it. Actually, I really stopped listening to some of the FM stations because of the crap they were playing. Now I listen mostly to AM stations like WAOK 1380, ATL - because they focus on issues within our community (and the world) and remind me that there are still a whole lotta intelligent, proactive, action oriented, and successful black people out there - despite what some would have us believe via television. Actually, I’m looking into how to get more “intelligent” music played on popular radio stations. I would love to hear more artists like Dwele, Julie Dexter, Talib, Mos, Jill, India, etc…

I didn’t watch the video. The name of the song made me totally disinterested. However I don’t think boycotting or whatever is the key. I heard a saying that the opposite of love isn’t hate but indifference. If you want this genre of hip hop to fall by the wayside, getting hyped up and preachy about won’t make it go away. It will only generate more interest which will in turn make the curious go and buy making the record sales go up. If you want it to go away, do what we did to MC Hammer, Michael Jackson, all conscientious rappers like Public Enemy and KRS-One and Arsenio. Just stop giving a damn and it will go away. No demand=Changing up the supply. Just my opinion.

40.

I heard he don’t want to talk about his friend getting shot because his album coming out soon and it might hurt his sales if he talk. I think If he know something about it he should say something. That man had a life and a family..poor Busta.

hmmm…the word bitch..well i’m going to say this and be done w/it. although we may find this as a degrading term..not ONE woman or man on this forum can honestly say they have never thought or said the word bitch about anyone. unfortuantely in hip hop..nigga is a term of endearment and so is the word bitch. It has several meanings in our community and its not going to stop at anytime. Life will need to be completely wiped out and start anew before we can mutually respect ourselves

Why would gabby be in a movie where she strips and gives out lapdances to a nigga.(Cradle to the Grave)Did you think about that to.

^^ NO cause I didn’t see the damn movie, and according to the trailer she seemed to be some type of detective so there had to be a CONTEXT to this (prolly trying to fool that guy to get information?). WHATEVER! In general in these type of movies there’s not the message “it’s really flattering and great to be a stripper” behind it. They’re part of a movie story. It’s like Julia Robets in PRETTY WOMAN, she ain’t “promoting how good it is to be a hooker” there’s a STORY behind, a context! In that video all GABY’s doing is basically “embracing” the B word cause she’s being called a bitch BY HER MAN “in a good way” (wtf is that supposed to mean anyway?). AND NO I didn’t watch the video, it’s written GAby’s name right under the video thats how I knew. And NO I don’t LISTEN NOR DO I BUY RAP ALBUMS THAT DISRESPECT WOMEN! I don’t own ONE album from any “studio pimp”. That’s whats wrong with us, we accept ANYTHING in the name of entertainment, and THEN We wonder WHY OTHER RACES DONT RESPECT US? Look at the way we portray ouselves and each other in videos and music period! Do you see indians and asians call their women “my bitch” “in a good way”??? DAMN SHAME!

@ MissTee2U…I agree.

Just so you know I do not call ANYONE bitch, hoe, nigger or anything else I think should never ever be said when describing a person, place or thing. Why? Because I think highly of myself and the people around me. You can say what you like but I find words like these degrading towards women. I wonder if Busta calls is daughter that word because it apparently relates to all women in the hiphop world. I’m done, its stupid to argue about why I don’t do what I do and say what I say because it is pretty obvious when I said “I don’t like the title before.” These rappers need to look at these impressionable young kids who are the majority that purchase thier records and eventually look at young ladies in a certain way that they should not.
