THE FIRST PIC HER OUTFIT IS CUTE, I DONT KNOW WHAT THE HELL SHE GOT ON IN THE REST, AND SHE COULD HAVE CHANGED UP THE EXPRESSION A LIL…CAUSE SHE SHOWS NO “FACE” IN THESE PICS.
It is sad how Hollywood make these chicks stay so skinny. I am beginning to think that Hollywood is run by Gay men that hate women. This standard of beauty is out of control.
I always liked Rosario. She was wonderful in He got game. But in every freakin’ interview she has to explain what races she is mixed with. It is annoying. Yes Rosario, we know you are:
Irish, Italian, African-American, Puerto-Rican, Dominican, Afro-Cuban, and what other contraption.
Why do these people feel they have to work the mixed race route?? The fact is the base they should secure themselves with first is black people. She can call herself what she wants, when people look at her she will always be black. Black people won’t desert you!
These gurls don’t understand that white people are never sympathetic to people that hate themselves.
Mariah Carey started out mixed, now the turd is a black woman.
She looks good in these pics-I think she found her angle, by tilting her head like that but in full head on shots, her eyes look bugged out. Not attractive at all.

Translation: I’m not black.
Actually, this is an issue some biracial persons feel strongly about. They feel it is not fair to call them black and that Biracial should be considered another race.
It’s funny though, because what will it change? Will racist discriminate against only half of u now? U can live in half of a white neighborhood? I don’t get it.
On the biracial question….in South Africa lightskinned blacks are called “colored” as though it’s different from black or white. Sometimes I think biracial folks want to have a new definition just as long as its not BLACK. At the end of the day, whether people want to believe its not about race, blah blah, you are what folks percieve you to be. So if you appear to be black, that’s how folks will take you, no matter what you say, Rosario, Tiger, Mariah, etc.
As far as Rosario….i remember meeting her and she was in glasses and a plain outfit looking far from a Hollywood type. I guess she’s stepped it up. But if that’s what got her that sexy ass Jason Lewis as a bed partner, I ain’t mad at her at all!
lolol i remember Rosario on Punk’d when they were asking her nationality and she did say that shit (8-9) different nationalities. It is true every article she has to mention how she is not black. I remember her once saying, “Whats the big deal about race, im Afgini friend says that i look like her people”. Rosario needs to shut up sometimes.

You know sometimes it’s not their fault that they mention it. Interviewers have an obssession with finding out actors’ races if they look ‘different’. So they get asked the question like all the time by reporters. For example in one day if they are doing promotions for a film and are interviewed by 10 reporters and they get asked the same qustion, obviously you’re gonna read about it in 10 diffent articles. The same thing happens to Charlize Theron-she gets asked about her mother shoting and killing her father all the time. They could just refuse to answer the question but then people would accuse them of being either ashamed or acting like a diva. It’s a lose lose situation.
Life is much easier when you accept and love the fact that although you have white or whatever in you, your ass is black. Black is strength, black is everything. Africa is the birthplace of civilization. This multiracial, biracial crap needs to go. When cops pull your ass over because you look “suspicious” it isn’t because you’re mixed, its because your ass is black. We were all slaves ,whether Papa or Mama was white.
You are so right! Technically most of the black people in this hemisphere are mixed any ways, but we are always seen as inferior and all of the other negatives that come our way!!! I think that people that have visibly white or other parentage see being called black as a negative. So they try to step as far away as possible.
The biggest shame of the week was BLACK ASS ROSIE PEREZ claiming on Martha Stewart’s show that she was only TAINO Indian… LOL
That bitch failed to admit that all of those Puerto Ricans have SLAVE blood pumping in their veins. Their beliefs, food and entire culture is painted with African culture.
They can run but will never hide. J-LO’s nose and ass came from SLAVE beatings and rapes.
Marc Anthony’s nose is a derivative of Yoruba DNA!
I don’t mind her saying she was mixed with Taino Indian, but that DOPE never mentioned African. Martha must have had an AMAZING laugh!!!
It is because of intermixing that some of those Hispanics don’t show certain features, but don’t be fooled. Believe it or not, but there were slaves in Argentina, Peru, Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, Venezuela. The largest populations were in Puerto Rico, Brazil, Panama, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Honduras, etc…
Today, there are over 30 million Africans in Brazil, not including the severely mixed ones.
It is the African that gave them their Salsa, Rumba, Tango, Meringue, etc… Yes, Tango.. Go check out the history…
Technically, if we used the one drop rule in Latin America, at least 70% of the population would be deemed black.
What people like Rosario Dawson, Zoe Zaldana & Fefe Dobson don’t get is that these Interviewers purposely ask them these silly questions to annihilate them from the blacks that will most likely support them. Oh, and Zoe Zaldana said that she is Latina and hates being labeled as BLACK! LOL Guess what BITCH, you are! If your freakin’ nose spreads any further, I’ll be able to drive my car through it!!! Zoe loves saying that she is Dominican, Caribbean, Lebanese, Spanish, etc..
BUT WHAT REALLY BUGS ME IS THAT MY GRANDMOTHER IS WHITER THAN MARIAH CAREY. SHE WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW BLACK SHE IS.
WHERE DOES THIS LITTLE SKINNY UGLITA ZOE SALDANA RAT GET OFF GETTING ANNOYED AT BEING CALLED BLACK??
MY FUCKING GRANDMOTHER SUFFERED TO GIVE THIS BITCH A CHANCE TO LIVE LIKE A HUMAN BEING AND HERE HER ASS IS HATING HERSELF!!!
I WILL NEVER SUPPORT ANYTHING THAT LOSER IS IN UNTIL SHE GETS A FUCKING CLUE AND A REALITY CHECK!!!
Before VIN DIESEL opened his stupid mouth about being the first Multiracial superhero and that crap about him being Italian, but not black - I totally IGNORED him.
How could he even dare deny that he was black was way beyond my comprehension?
But weird enough, Mr. Diesel was at the NAACP Image awards finally admitting that “RACE & ETHNICITY” does matter.
Seems to me, Mr. Diesel must have had his N*GG*R moment!!!
Like my sister says eventually all of these people with Haute complex will eventually get their N*GG*R moment!!!
Remember when Lenny Kravitz was manhandled and arrested for being black? LOL
I enjoyed that one.
MY RESPECT GOES TO JEFFREY RIGHT. ONE OF THE MOST ACCLAIMED AND AWARDED ACTOR BLACK ACTORS IN AMERICA TODAY. THE GUY WON A TONY, EMMY, GOLDEN FLOBE, ETC…
THIS MAN MAKES ME PROUD BECAUSE HE STANDS UP FOR HIS PEOPLE.
THANKS JEFF!!!
I understand what y’all folks are saying to a point about how mixed-race celebrities sometimes come off like they don’t want to be considered as black. But at the same time, if you’re of mixed race, you’re not all one, or all the other. Even though, yes, most of America is going to look at Rosario or whoever and say, “Oh, she’s black,” she has a right, and a responsibility, I think, to consider herself a mixture of all the races that she is.
Yes, Black is beautiful, but every race is beautiful and deserves respect. I can see how it would be very hard for a multi-racial person to avoid being pigeonholed on the basis of their looks.
Also, I agree with whoever said that a lot of times, the race question is the only question reporters want to ask these people, so it may come off like that’s all they want to talk about, when in reality, it’s all white or mainstream America wants to know about these people.
She has this exotic look to her. I love that about her. She doesn’t have the nice apple bottom that I love to see on a woman but she has this sultry, sexy ass look that just drives me crazy.
I thought Rosario was Puerto Rican or something, actually looking at her you really can’t tell what she is, but she is BEAUTIFUL!
I don’t know about people saying she is overrated, cause I really don’t read much about her, if anything I would say she is extremely talented and underrated.
Now I will probably get it for this, but how come it’s only okay for a mixed person to claim the part of them that is black, but not white, puerto rican or anything else. We alwys want everyone to belong to us when for me it’s like if you don’t want to be black then F@#k ya, you know. In the end it will come out and that person will be humbled.
For instance Mariah Carey, when she first came out she said she was not black, okay cool, but when she divorced Tommy Mottola , started selling less, and less record, had a movie to flop and became a big joke in the industry who did she have to fall back on? Black people! White people had written her off completely. SHe was humbled and now she’s blacker than Beyonce’.
So don’t worry about the ones who deny who they are f@#k em’ cause when the shit hits the fan they’ll come running back home!
Hahahaha same shit with Michael Jackson when dude is getting bashed for child molesting he hires Nation of Islam security and calls on his black peoples to support him but all along dude is running around the country with two white babies with toilet paper over their heads, popping pills and sucking on elizabeth taylor’s old ass titties. people in general are stupid. i don’t care white, black, latin, asian or whatever people are just dumb I hate ‘em all.
But back to Rosario. She is sooooo fly. Man she is up there in my top 5 and may be tied for numero uno. God she is beautiful. Even thought she was born with a cleft lip I don’t care that scar is cute. She could most definately get it. Its funny though I read an article about how she is a hoe. Around the time of kids she was going out with Harold Hunter (the black skater in the movie) and they were in a bar one night. She snuck away after she saw Leonardo DiCaprio come in the bar. Harold said 20 minutes later she saw him making out with her at the bar and they were over. She told him she was attracted to famous movie stars. Maybe she is the one who kicked off his depression, over-eating and cocaine consumption.
Ok, Tinkerbelle, I am really really feeling you right now sista!!!! If I knew you, I’d give you a hug. You are right on the money. I too have an extremely white looking Grandma and it will be a fight if you tell her she isn’t black. Back when they were growing up, black was black, no matter how light you were. Now, everybody wants to give a fucking cookie recipe when asked what they are. I’m tired of it. Rosie said she was Taino Indian??? Her nose is wider than ANY of my family members who are black. Hispanics have it twisted. They want to be so far removed from blacks that they say stupid shit. Africa runs through everyone’s veins.
Hey Courtie, we as black people all have the “right” to name a million ethnicities, but what good will it do. Our history as blacks in the world demands that that should come first. Respect all races, huh?? Whites have disrespected for so long and black will always come first in my book. Vin Diesel neeeded his “Nigga wake up” call from Paul Mooney.
Lenny has always said he was black. He said that was one of the first things his Mom ever taught him. In fact, not too long ago he was saying that if you have any black blood in you, you’re black.
Believe me, I feel what you’re saying. All I am saying is, that if I was a multi-ethnic person (which I am not, I’m Black), I would consider myself to be not just Black, but Black, white, Arab, Hispanic, whatever.
And yes, I disagree with folks who want to deny their Black heritage, but I do believe that if you are multi-ethnic, you are multi-ethnic. I don’t believe that “one drop of Black, you’re Black” business, simply because I think that’s an across-the-board generalization made up by White people to pigeonhole anyone who was black, brown, yellow, red, etc.
No disrespect, that’s what I think.
And yes, I do believe that all races deserve respect. I don’t care how people act. Believing that one race is better than any other is how we ended up in this centuries-old mess as it is.
And just to add, a lot of the reason that I feel this way is because I have a lot of multi-ethnic people in my family. My little cousins, for example, are half-Black, half-Japanese.
I don’t think that they should have to limit themselves to being one race or the other. I think they should embrace both beautiful cultures and learn about each equally, and realize that they are lucky enough to have not one, but two, beautiful histories to learn and grow from.
Sorry if I sound cheesy, but that’s the way I feel!
I tell you if Rosario didn’t have those big lips and dark complexion, she wouldn’t mention that she had blackin her!
Read her articles, you’ll become nauseous with her complex!!!
I believe it! That is why I am not feeling her. I am probably wrong for feeling like this, but hell, I feel used! Simply put, I feel used. When she started out, you would mainly see her cast in black films now that she has made a name for herself, she has disassociated herself from us altogether. I am not hating on her because I wish her success but I feel damn used.
I’m Irish/Italian (father’s side) and Nigerian (mother’s side). I was raised to embrace all three cultures and not identify with just one. If someone wants to look at the color of my skin and put me in one particular box that’s on them. But if someone comes out and asks me about my ethnic background I’ll be damned if I deny one of my parents. They both raised me and made sure I took pride in my entire heritage. If you want to call me black go ahead. If you want to call me white go ahead. But if you ask me I’m going to tell you I’m mixed. Because that’s what I am.
You always hear of Black and others saying what they have mixed in them but you never hear a white person saying they have any black mixed in them. Ain’t too many in this country is 100% anything.
Get a life Siobhan. My Dad is Italian too and I’m not denying him by calling myself black. In fact, my parents made that clear and by doing so, they saved me a ton of confusion. You are nothing special. Most American blacks have white in them. You and your Mom should really know better though. She’s from the Motherland. Your ass is black and you can check 20 boxes on the census form. I feel so sorry for a lot of black kids with white parents today because they are being fooled by their own parents. Since when is calling yourself black “limiting” yourself Courtie? You have problems. OH, and Siobhan, you need to remember, your Irish/Italian “people” don’t love your black ass. They think you’re a nigga. Your Dad loves you, but he doesn’t represent the majority of them.
You’re right E. White people who are actually black will never tell because they think to be white is to be the best. Its only ignorant ass black people who want to broadcast to the world that they have white running through their veins.
Siobhan and Courtie: I love ya’ll comments, and big ups to your parents for teaching you to love and respect both parts of who you are!!! COntinue to love and embrace all of who you beautifully are, and don’t even pay attention to the ignoramuses that think it’s okay to deny others races that are in you and have been there for you and supported you, just as long as you don’t deny that you are BLACK!!! It’s not right to deny any part of who you are if you identify with those parts of you!
Sorry, Cortney. I’m not confused about anything. My parents raised me to believe that color is just how people want to classify themselves. I’m not black, I’m not white. Have you spoken to all Irish and Italian people in the world? Do you know how they all feel? I doubt it. So, please don’t speak for them. You wouldn’t want anyone speaking for you without them consulting you first.
I’ve experienced racism from both fronts. White people because my mother is black. And black people because my father is white. One group is not better than the other. Just cause I’m half black does not mean I claim black as my race. Just because I’m half white does not mean I claim white as my race.
My Irish/Italian “people” (why is the word people surrounded by quotes?). Are the Irish and Italians not really people, Cortney?
Let me ask a question what about the child born to black parent & white parent and the child comes out white as snow? Does that child in the future fill check the Black tickbox on a census form? Everyone makes a big deal because Rosario Dawson doesn’t claim black when she clearly has a darker skin tone than most white European people. Using that thinking than the child should claim white, correct?
All this issue about race, color of skin, etc., and it’s 2006. As a human race we need to be over this. I don’t care what color people are. It’s ridiculous. So what? Rosario Dawson goes down the list of her entire heritage. How does that affect you? It doesn’t. Let her be. If you have some type of European in you and you don’t want to claim it, that’s you. But let the rest of us who choose to represent all our ethnicities do so without the nasty ass trash talk. We claiming all of them…you don’t hear us leaving out the black part, do you? It’s in there with the rest of them.
Comment #38… Jeffrey IS A BAD BOY !!!
@dukesman2000… I WISH she had some ASS to go w/ that “sexy ass look” ( See pic #2 )
For my photography experts, what IS up w/ picture #2…
WHAT kind of Fucking pose is that
She mentions all those things because her family strongly identifies with Latin culture. I’m actually friends with her mom and trust me, she’s very aware and proud of her Black roots. Culturally speaking they are more in touch with their Hispanic roots than African American, so the fact that they mention it at all shows alot more pride than other Latinos.
Its not like Jimbo who grew up in Harlem saying “oh I have Indian” in me. The Dawson family identifies multiculturally because they actually lived a multiculti life. We New Yorkers, are lucky enough to have a city conducive to doing so.
Wow, Cortney…I wasn’t expecting that.
We should have love for each other, havin the same name and all.
And girl, calling myself Black isn’t limiting myself. I am Black. I’m not multi-racial.
But if I was, hell yeah I would be limiting myself to call myself just Black.
It’s about being proud of your race or races, no matter what that race or races may be. Stop the hate, children!
Cortney, be a part of the solution, girl, not the problem.
Get a life Siobhan. My Dad is Italian too and I’m not denying him by calling myself black. In fact, my parents made that clear and by doing so, they saved me a ton of confusion. I am the solution dear, not the problem. You are living in a fantasy. Color doesn’t matter, we’re all flower children!
Siobhan, it doesn’t matter if the kid comes out white as snow, its still black. Blackness isn’t always a skin color. You don’t have to look black to be black. I feel sorry for you.
Save your pity for someone who wants it, Cortney. I don’t need it nor do I want it. I’m quite happy with my life and the way it is. I’m not insecure about my heritage or ethnicities. I just embrace them all.
If you weren’t insecure, you wouldn’t feel the need to give a recipe. I”m Latvian, Russian, Nigerian, Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, Black, Slovic……………………………..If you were smart, you’d realize that the only “race” is the black race. We all come from Africa. Boy, I bet you two really wish it was Ireland or somewhere.
Pure ignorance spewing from your mouth, Cortney. That’s the end of this conversation. There’s no point in arguing with someone who refuses to realize that some people accept & embrace their entire background…not just the black (or white) part of it.
as far as her not callin herself black, so what? she’s a shit load of things and more power to her that she chooses to acknowledge them all. yea she’ll be black to anyone who chooses to discriminate on her but if she wanna be miss world thats up 2 her

I read this shit again. And yes, you are funny!!!!!
Peace!!!
Courtie, we don’t come from the Fertile Crescent. WE come from Africa. You do everything you can to deny greatness. Do the history. The first human skull was found in Africa and they have traced all DNA to two black women in Africa.
I don’t deny anything. I have my own ideas and opinions about races and race relations, as obviously you do. I had never heard about them tracing DNA back to two women in Africa, so obviously I have to read up on that.
That doesn’t change the fact that I firmly believe that we’re people first, and race comes second. I don’t come on this blog to argue, I come on here to make fun of celebrities outfits when I’m supposed to be working.
You’re certainly entitled to your opinion, and I’m entitled to mine.
Have a good weekend.
SAYING YOU ARE BLACK DOESN’T TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR IRISH OR WHATEVER FUCKING HERITAGE.
BESIDES, IRISH IS A NATIONALITY. ANYONE CAN BE IRISH! SAMANTHA MUMBA IS IRISH!! AND SHE IS BLACK. HER MOTHER IS IRISH AND FATHER NIGERIAN. BUT SHE WAS BORN IN IRELAND. ASK AN ASIAN PERSON IF TIGER WOODS IS ASIAN AND THEY WILL STRAIGHT UP TELL YOU BLACK.
AGAIN, LET ME DRILL IT INTO YOUR DENSE HEADS…
CALL YOURSELVES WHATEVER YOU WANT. YOU COULD HAVE BEEN BROUGHT UP IN HELSINKI OR THE FREAKIN’ YUKON PROVINCE FOR ALL I CARE, YOU ARE BLACK. IT DOESN’T MEAN THAT IF SOMEONE ASKS YOU, YOU WILL DENY YOUR IRISH OR GERMAN PARENT.
WHAT YOU PEOPLE FAIL TO REALIZE IS THAT BEING ASKED THESE SILLY QUESTIONS IN THE MEDIA IS A WAY OF DIVIDING AND CONQUORING. ANYTIME I HEAR THESE FOOL, I GET TURNED OFF. THAT IS THE INTENDED REACTION. THEY NOTICED IT WORKED WITH TIGER WOODS, NOW THEY ARE DOING IT TO WHOEVER LET’S THE MEDIA GET AWAY WITH IT.
NOTICED HOW THEY DON’T DO IT TO ALECIA KEYS… BECAUSE ALICIA MADE IT CLEAR FROM JUMP THAT SHE IS BLACK. SAME WITH SHEMAR MOORE, BORIS KUJOE, TRACI ROSS, ETC. TRACI ROSS ACKNOWLEDGES HER WHITE JEWISH FATHER, BUT LET’S YOU KNOW SHE IS BLACK.
PEOPLE LIKE Siobhan HAS LIFE EASY, SO YOU CAN TALK SHIT. BUT MY BLACK PEOPLE SUFFERED FOR YOUR ASS TO TALK SMACK NOW.
YOU HAVE A FUCKING COMPLEX IF YOU CAN NOT SAY TO YOURSELF, I AM BLACK!!! YOUR WHITE PARENT HAS LITERALLY DONE YOU A DISSERVICE.
BUT I WILL LOVE FOR YOU TO GO TO THE SOUTH AND PULL THE I AM FORTY RACES CARD, YOU’LL LEARN WHERE YOUR PLACE IS.
HALLE BERRY’S MOTHER IS WHITE. BUT HALLE IS BLACK AND SHE UNDERSTANDS THAT.
HALLE COULD HAVE GONE THE I AM MULATO ROUTE, BUT SHE DIDN’T. BY THE WAY, THAT WORD MULATO IS THE MOST IGNORANT OF WORDS, IT IS DERIVED FROM MULE, WHICH WE KNOW CAN NOT REPRODUCE. THE INTENDED INSULT, YET I HAVE HEARD TURDBAGE CAREY SPORTING THE MONIKER!!!
CUNTS LIKE TIGER WOODS CAN NOW GO ON A GULF COURSE AND YOU MOCK OUR ANCESTORS SWEAT - BUT GOD IS A PRACTICAL JOKER. HOPEFULLY WHEN YOUR ASSES ARE GETTING YOUR N*GG*R MOMENTS, THERE WILL BE NO NAACP OR BLACK PEOPLE TO GET YOUR ASSES OUT OF IT!!!
GOD BLESS WALTER WHITE!! THE MAN WAS WHITE AS SNOW AND NEVER STOPPED SHORT OF RISKING HIS LIFE FOR BLACK PEOPLE AND YOU MORONS CAN’T EVEN LIVE WITH CALLING YOURSELVES BLACK!!!
Hmm interesting conversation u guys have goin on here. I have a cousin who is Italian and Black, we attended high school together and would go around telling everyone that she was italian and would get mad if I said that she was my cousin cause she didnt want ppl to know that she was black or something. That shit use to piss me off. I think that you should proud of everything that composes you. I dont think the problem here is that you need to pick one or the other but that all of us that know everything that we are mixed with embrace all of that. I know alot of mixed people who like to pretend like they aren’t in any way, shape or form black. Alot of mixed ppl used that i’m made up other of other races as a crutch to disassociate themselves with “regular fully black ppl”. You really know when ppl have issues about that when u you refer to them as black and they throw a hissfit like u just could ask them can u sleep with their parent or something. I mean sadly people go by what they see and you can just say yes but I am also this, this and this. If you’re black and white, i dont need u to be black or white but I do need u recognize that that’s all u and by denying it you just making urself look insecure. And race is not a convenient thing so stop switching it up like it’s purses or something. If you’re multiracial then u multiracial sun-sat, not denying some today and picking them back up tomorrow cause it suits whatever situation you’re in…that’s lame…
YOUR NAME IS SUITING.
DID YOU UNDERSTAND THE ARGUMENT BEFORE YOU PUT IN YOUR WORTHLESS 2 CENTS IN AN ADULT CONVERSATION???
NO ONE CARES THAT ROSARIO OR ALL THE OTHER KISS ASSES ARE MIXED. WHAT WE ARE SAYING IS THAT WHEN IT COMES TO THEM ACKNOWLEDGING THEMSELVES AS BLACK, IT IS 5 MILLION NATIONALITIES.
ZOE SALDANA HAD THE NERVE TO SAY THAT SHE IS PROUD TO BE FROM A VERY YOUNG RACE (HISPANIC)
WHAT??? HISPANIC A RACE? LOL
I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT HISPANICS WERE FROM HISPANIOLA - ONCE HAITI/DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. THAT WAS A LOCATION NOT A RACE. I THINK SHE IS TRYING TO SAY MIXED…
WELL SHE IS DOMINICAN THOUGH… I GIVE HER AN A FOR THAT ONE…
ALL I KNOW IS THAT HER CAREER IS GOING NO WHERE SINCE SHE TOOK THE I AM NOT BLACK ROUTE - AM LATINA ZALDANA.
HOPEFULLY, IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS THIS TWERP DOESN’T START CALLING HERSELF BLACK!
DOES MARIAH RING A BELL?
SINCE WHITE AMERICA DROPPED MARIAH LIKE HOT SHIT AND SHE HAD THAT BREAKDOWN, MARIAH IS THE THE BLACKEST AND BIGGEST GHETTO HOOD RAT IN TOWN!!!
lolol Tinkerbell on point. By the way…I think that Vin Diesel got his N- Moment but the media did not care to display it. What the fuck was he doing at the NAACP awards?
Vin was at the NAACP awards???????
You know something. I don’t see how people didn’t know he was black. It was quite obvious to me. He keeps that hair short to make sure those naps don’t grow in and it fools people.
The first sign of immaturity is calling someone names when trying to get your point across. If you’re addressing me try not to use vulgarity. Ok? Thanks. You want to have an intellectual dicussion, that’s fine.
If you read my comments correctly, I have never denied being black. However, I represent both sides white & black and I will always say so.
You know nothing about my life so how can you say I had it easy? I suggest you think before you put words to paper. You are ill informed about my life and have no right to speak on it.
There is no such thing as a black person. If you don’t believe it look in a mirror and what do you see? Some shade of brown perhaps, but not black. Be honest (I don’t make dark skin tone/complexion jokes and don’t find them funny). People will deny their race until the end of time. Why stress over other people’s preferences/claims when you have your own? An argument will not change anything, but I guess a discussion on it can be intriguing. There is always someone out there willing to deny their race, especially brown skinned folks. That’s why they pop up periodically. Might as well get used to it and over it. It is not going to stop. Love and peace to all humanity.
Okay, I have never ever heard Zoe Saldana nor Rosario deny their ‘Blackness’ if you will.
I have a couple of issues of Latina magazine, and in an article that features Zoe, she sounded very self-confident to me, and described herself as an “Afro-Dominican”. Also, she was in one of those mini commercial (on BET) speaking on Black issues.
So I dont get all these nay-saying comments? Where are you getting this info from? )Remember, rumors fly and multiply like roaches lol). Besides, at the end of the day — its not anyone’s fault when the INTERVIEWER ASKS THEM THE QUESTION. They cant do anything about that.
And to whom the person who had to mention Michael Jackson (how predictable), dont even start this shit okay? lol No he did not come ‘back’ running to Black folks when the child molestation case came about; he was never gone. But whatever, I’m not even going to elaborate any further because I’ll be writing a novel if I do, lol I’m just sick of people doggin’ on my mans on this tired ass issue, lol
yea cortney, Vin Diesel was at this years naacp awards. He presented an award, the crowd looked shocked to see him and they cheered lowder than usual. Then he opened up with satyng some shit like “It doesnt matter what “we” do in life, RACE and CLASS will always defy us!”
So now Vin, you finally come to actualization that you are black?
Her jaw is very wide. I think she’s cute, but thats what is weird about her and I could never quite put my finger on it. It reminds me of Lionel Richie or Jay Leno’s jaw.
I say you had it easy because you NEVER had to sit in the back of the bus. You never Work 24 hours a day, were beaten, humiliated, have your children ripped from you and shipped off to other locations, lay in fear that your master will rape you when he feels like it, live like a f*king animal, get lynched, have your baby cut from your stomach…
No, now you can talk bunk about representing both sides.. The problem is that there are no sides to represent! You are black! That does not change the fact that one of your parents is Irish.
You just don’t get it, or just refuse too….
Wake up and smell the coffee!
OOOps, sorry to offend.
#1, I’m light as hell yet my brother is dark-skinned… that is how mixed up my family is lol… I would prefer to just say, “I’m black”, but due to my features I’m constantly asked “What are you mixed with?” Sometimes I just feel like saying “nothing”, but I know I would just get a weird look.
PS… I have many different races in my background, much like Rosario.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that at times I feel obligated to list what I’m mixed with because some people are just not satisfied with, “I’m black”.
“I say you had it easy because you NEVER had to sit in the back of the bus. You never Work 24 hours a day, were beaten, humiliated, have your children ripped from you and shipped off to other locations, lay in fear that your master will rape you when he feels like it, live like a f*king animal, get lynched, have your baby cut from your stomach… ”
I’m pretty sure none of the above has happened to you either.
Can you not have an intelligent conversation/argument without using insults, profanity, or a combination of both? Obviously not.
I stated my opinion and you attack me verbally. We do not have to see eye to eye on this. Not once during this entire back and forth have I felt the need to get down to a baser level and call you names or insult you in any way.
If I choose to represent both my whiteness and blackness that really doesn’t affect you one way or the other. I’m black but I’m also white. Why do I just have to be black? Why can’t I be both? No one I’ve met has had a problem with my description of myself. If I choose to tick both boxes on my census form so what?
It’s 2006 there are so many more important things going on in this world than worrying about what race a person is. Good Lord, if we all keep mixing there really won’t be any defined race left in years to come. It’s no longer a world where whites stick with whites and blacks stick with blacks. As our younger generations are brought up they are brought up in a world of mixed cultures. It’s a wonderful thing when different cultures can come together and hopefully produce greatness.
Siobhan, we’re officially sick of your flower child rose glasses bullshit. Bye! Why are you on a black gossip site anyway?? Go to a mixed one since you love that shit so much.
Oh, and when you check more than black on the Census form, it does hurt people. It lessens money and services to black communities. It was a ploy by the government and you fools are falling for it. All they care about is lessening black numbers. Its all political.
JOJO, this advice is unsolicited, but damn what people expect you to say. Black comes in many looks and if people aren’t satisfied with you saying you’re just black, then fuck um.
I just refuse to fall into a type of race distinction.
Being in a free country, I am free to visit any site I choose to. As I have not disrespected anyone on this site by insulting anyone so I really don’t see the problem. The problem is with people who are so uptight about race that they refuse to see another person’s point of view.
You could have easily said “Ok, Siobhan, that’s your opinion. We have ours and you and others have yours.” Did I personally disrespect your opinion, Cortney? No, I didn’t.
MY AIM IS NOT TO INSULT YOU, IT IS TO OPEN YOUR EYES… BUT THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO CONCEPT OF REALITY.
BEING BLACK ISN’T ABOUT REPRESENTING “BLACKNESS”, IT’S ABOUT ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY. IT TAKES STRENGTH AND THE ABILITY TO WITHSTAND TRIALS AND TRIBULATION.
IT’S ABOUT NOT TAKING THE EASY WAY, BECAUSE IT IS EASY NOT TO BE BLACK.
CORTNEY PUT IT BEST, THE FACT IS THAT PEOPLE LIKE YOU CLAIM THAT YOU ARE ALL SORTS RACES AND ETHNICITIES, BUT IN THE END YOU BURDEN US AND RELY ON OUR SUFFERING.
WHEN YOU GET YOUR ASSES KICKED OR EXPERIENCE YOUR NEGRO MOMENTS, THE NAACP AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE FOR PEOPLE THAT CLICK BLACK ARE DRAINED.
YOU ARE ENTITLED TO SCHOLARSHIPS AND CERTAIN GRANTS BECAUSE YOU CLICK BLACK, YET IT IS A PLACE YOU REALLY DON’T WANT TO BE…
I know that you are some idiot whom in your real life have no respect, so you come here to validate your sense of importance and self-worth.
Reality check loser, you are a lowlife degenerate with the brain of a pea and the IQ of a TURKEY!
Take your own advice scum, since you are not black, you stay back!!!
I find this funny. I am too mixed like Rosario, but, because of this exact discussion, i call myself black. I only say what i’m mixed with when ppl ask. Sometimes, i say black-latina because my dad is a latino, but usually black suffices. I swear, it’s hard being mixed, but because black gets you scholarships…..lol But to be a pain, yes all ppl originated from Africa. Homo Ergaster/Erectus is the species that gave way to Homo Sapiens (sorry, just had a biology test). lol
iT’S NOT THAT “BLACK GETS YOU SCHOLARSHIPS” LIKE YOU ARE TRYING TO POINT OUT, IT IS THAT PEOPLE RIDE ON THE STRENGTH OF BLACK PEOPLE AND WHEN IT IS TIME TO ACKNOWLEDGE BEING BLACK, THEY ARE EVERYTHING ELSE BUT BLACK.
I HAVE NO PROBLEM IF SOMEONE ADMITS THAT THEY HAVE WHATEVER RACE MIXTURE, IT IS THE PEOPLE WHO CLAIM THAT THEY ARE DENYING THE OTHER RACE BY SAYING THEY ARE BLACK.
I AM MIXED WITH WHITE AND JAPANESE (FATHER) AND MOM BLACK, BUT I AM BLACK. TRUST ME, MY JAPANESE AND WHITE SIDES ARE VERY AWARE OF THAT FACT AND I ASSURE YOU THEY ARE NOT OFFENDED. SUCH ACCEPTENCE MAKES IT EASY TO DEAL WITH PEOPLE.
I KNOW WHO I AM AND I AM VERY COMFORTABLE IN MY SKIN.
this is the dumbest thing i have ever heard. Most latin people are from european descend or indian. I’m dominican myself and i have lots of african in my blood. But what most poeple don’t understand that the history of the USA is not our history. You keep your race war to youself. We are Latinos we dont want to be black or white. Thats a USA fight not ours. There are more important things to worry about than this crap.
this is a very interesting conversation….re. Rosario ….I think she is ok….,I think here presentation is beautiful (clothes, pose, ….)but i have seen other pictures and I think she is ok……I actually never thought she looked “black” but then again what the hell does that look like….both my parents are black (father on the lighter side of the spectrum…his parents are black too but “mixed” and not just with eropean)….My sister and I have always been pited against each other , having been acused of not being from the same parents as she came out more silky haired and I didn’t…..but we both have the same parents…..1st of all in reality…one of the reasons black/africans have servived so many years of killings as oposed to some native groups that have died out as oposed to the same treatment is becasue of our diversity. And if you travel throughout africa you will see (and i am talking about untouched ….fairly untouched, who knows!…tribes)all the features of the world in our people…naturally occuring….
It is so hard to really say where someone is from…..and like someone said before because of the slavery of not only blacks , but indians (from india), native and hispanics distributed like every where you will see that it is almost imposible to tell what someones background is….I would of thought ….if i saw here around toronto that rosario was from Guyana or Trinidad…becasue alot of the people that have her look are part indian, african and european….and i probably would have been wrong.
My parents are from two differnet parts of the Caribean where most people (some even chinese) consider themselves black unless they can gain success/money saying otherwise……and yes I agree there are some very dark blacks who are also of directly mixed heretage and no one gives a shit.,..they are black no matter what they say….I am not even so dark and I find that has been my experience…..unlike my sister who is more black by assosiation and culture preference to others looking on……

52.
Cortney
Friday, May 5, 2006 /
Hey Courtie, we as black people all have the “right” to name a million ethnicities, but what good will it do.
53.
Courtie
Friday, May 5, 2006 /
Cortney,
Believe me, I feel what you’re saying.
54.
Courtie
Friday, May 5, 2006 /
And just to add, a lot of the reason that I feel this way is because I have a lot of multi-ethnic people in my family.

Stay Up!!!

You are nothing special. Most American blacks have white in them. You and your Mom should really know better though. She’s from the Motherland. Your ass is black and you can check 20 boxes on the census form. I feel so sorry for a lot of black kids with white parents today because they are being fooled by their own parents.

LISTEN MY ILL-ADVISED ONES…

ZOE SALDANA HAD THE NERVE TO SAY THAT SHE IS PROUD TO BE FROM A VERY YOUNG RACE (HISPANIC)
WHAT??? HISPANIC A RACE? LOL

No, now you can talk bunk about representing both sides.. The problem is that there are no sides to represent! You are black! That does not change the fact that one of your parents is Irish.

PS… I have many different races in my background, much like Rosario.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that at times I feel obligated to list what I’m mixed with because some people are just not satisfied with, “I’m black”.

Tinkerbelle,
Can you not have an intelligent conversation/argument without using insults, profanity, or a combination of both?

Oh, and when you check more than black on the Census form, it does hurt people. It lessens money and services to black communities. It was a ploy by the government and you fools are falling for it. All they care about is lessening black numbers. Its all political.

Being in a free country, I am free to visit any site I choose to. As I have not disrespected anyone on this site by insulting anyone so I really don’t see the problem. The problem is with people who are so uptight about race that they refuse to see another person’s point of view.

this is a very interesting conversation….re.
