Monica feat. Missy Elliott - A Dozen Roses (full - poor quality) - download
Even though I’m not particularly hype over this track, this is what I was waiting for from Monica. The innovative Missy Elliott-productions with old school samples. But I will admit, I just love Monica’s voice. It sounds like honey pouring over the track, I love it. The only real problem I have with this song is that she’s comparing her love interest to property and material things. I don’t know, I just can’t get down with that. Another thing I love is when Monica raps. Even though it’s kind of corny and borderline wack, I think it’s the cutest.
Jagged Edge feat. Jermaine Dupri - Stunnas (full) - download
I’m glad that Jagged Edge decided to take a little risk with this song, because I was a little worried with the first single, because it sounded a little out-dated to me. But “Stunnas,” cashing off the whole “we love shades” thing, is something different, fun and fresh for them. I could definitely see the dope boys with their stunnas and grills get crunk to this. I’m digging it.
LL Cool J. feat. Lloyd Banks - Bump This (full) - download
It’s really sad that I can’t tell the difference between any of their voices. LL Cool J is really a chamillion as far as it comes to his flow. If you’ve listened to his album, I’m wowed by how he’s able to sound like whoever else is on the track. He sounds exactly like everyone else from G-Unit on here. I have to admit, this is good riding song. I was leanin’ and rockin’ with it the first time I gave it a play-through. Check it out.
Brandy feat. ??? - It Never Happened (full) - download
Whoever did this song, I hope she doesn’t plan on working with them on the album. Much like “Deepest Thoughts,” this is rumored to be an older track that was never released. Either way, this is terrible. The production, the other singer featured on the track… I don’t know, this is just a mess.

I like Monica’s song but it sounds like something that would have been on the last album.

Monica has a beautiful voice. This song is not bad. She reminds me of a Toni Braxton.
I agree with caff. How about some Red Hot Chilli Peppers or Fallout Boy just to spice it up some.

I swear, if it’s not one thing, it’s another - you people are never pleased. if I were to post some of that stuff (which I listen to as well), other people will make comments and complain and moan - “they’re not black,” “isn’t this supposed to be a black celebrity gossip site?” (which has happened) - now that I’m only posting R&B and hiphop, everyone wants to complain about that. I’m sticking to what the criteria of the site is. if you have a problem, don’t use the download links. it’s that simple.

the only song that is hard to open/download is the monica one. thats the only one im trying to hear. the brandy song seemed old/stale.the ll song wasnt my style but the other two are decent. thought i must say the music industry should become more creative/fresh/new. we all know about spinners/hoes/being wronged in a relationship and partying but is there anything more to black life??? i tell these *white run labels* will come to see int he near future that they can’t jus put out/support artists with subpar work. they’ll learn it when their atists sales are int he toilet

Brian,
don’t let these losers put you off your game, mayne. i TRULY appreciate your efforts here and was about to write to ask you to post more stuff like that rock chick you put up a few weeks ago. One of the things i like most about your posts is your willingness to embrace a wide range of Black music.
so keep it up…keep doing you…and THANKS!

Indeed…I fully understand that argument. You can’t forcefeed common black people anything that isn’t in their nature. They’ll become confused and think you’re insulting them whenever offering anything capable of expanding their mental capacity.
I guess I’m just one of the few black americans who is above dumbed down lyrics and monotonous r&b whimpering. =\

White artists or any artist of any race talk about the same things just in a different way. Just because we are Black and we choose to talk about or do certain things doesn’t make it wrong because “they” don’t do it.

And just because some us of choose not to listen to a certain type of music doesn’t mean that we can’t expand our minds. Some of us just don’t like listening to that mess. Just like people choose not to eat brussel sprouts or skydive. Some shit just ain’t for you.

Losers? Wow. Sorry, I forget where I am sometimes. I keep anticipating a response with some intelligence behind it. Instead I get defensive remarks, off of a mere suggestion.
It’s like nobody can say anything that doens’t comply with the normal ass kissing. Maybe it’s my name.

Megan, breathe for a second. I didn’t say “Either put some rock on here or else! Fuck r&b and hip hop, bloopity blah blah blah! Argh”
I asked, in a suggestive way. Which I don’t do often. You’re OD’ing for absolutely no reason.

I’m not a music downloader and I usually skip the music posts but I came in to be nosey and oh my goodness…. looky what I found. A music preference fight. LOL. I especially like when Brian called us “you people” that was funny. haha. I’m personally into neo-soul but alot of people in my circle are not into rap or r&b so I totally don’t think it was wrong of Caff to request a different variety every once in a while. He’s a regular poster making a simple request. BUT, I also totally get Brian’s point that he’s merely sticking with the criteria of the site.

lol, that JE song is so bad… I didn’t even d/l the rest..
I read an MTV article where they said they were tryna get into the Bay Area hyphy movement with this song, wack.
Anyways, you can shape you’re audience and it’s better to push for diversity when it comes to music and not the same pop/r&b/hip hop genres (BET does that, and we all know how great their progamming is.. *whistle*). That’s just me I guess, I personally wouldn’t care if someone complained about wanting to hear the same shit 24/7 just b/c that’s what a majority of Black artists create.
Maybe you should just post one song - new or old, that’s a totally different stlye from the usual - call it ‘New Flavor’ or whatever you want then no one could complain cause you’re still catering to the original format like now…
I’d even contribute music to that if you want - I listen to everything from Bjork to Gorillaz to Res to Ice Cube to Minnie Riperton (yadda yadda yadda), so if you need any music I’d probably have it (I currently have 41 GB).
Not to mention… it’s not like everything out of R&B and Hip Hop is white, and there’s areas of even the basic genres that haven’t been touched - I know Brian’s commented about listening to Little Brother and such but that’s never been posted… lol
