THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW

Johnta Austin feat. Jermaine Dupri – Turn It Up (full) – download
Johnta Austin – Make Her the One (full) – download
You might not know the name, but you’ve heard his music. Along with super-writer/producer Bryan Michael Cox, Johnta Austin has written for the likes of Mariah Carey (“We Belong Together” and “Shake It Off”), Mary J. Blige, as well as Letoya Luckett. Now, I guess Johnta’s taking his step into the spotlight and The first song is something like the R&B version of “Slow Jamz” by Kanye, Twista & Jamie Foxx, except with more emphasis on old and new school R&B, instead of just old school classics. Johnta’s voice isn’t anything to rant and rave about, he sounds like any other male crooner out these days, but I think R&B needs a fresh male face.

Paris Hilton – Turn It Up (low quality snippet) – download
I seriously just laugh at the thought of Paris Hilton coming out with an album, but randomly, I could hear this song in the club. When I got a hold on the snippet, I found myself poppin’ in my computer chair, and then I realized that it was Paris Hilton, and I had to catch myself before anyone heard or saw. It sounds like a Scott Storch production, and although there has been confirmation about him producing for the album, we can’t be certain. “Turn It Up” sounds exactly like a song Storch produced for Jessica Simpson titled “Fired Up,” which is where the assumption came from. As we all expect, Paris is not a singer. More of a talker, moaner, whisperer and a breather…

T.I. feat. Trey Songz – Why You Wanna (Remix) (full) – download
I think that “King” might be like last year’s “Urban Legend” in the way that every track, regardless of it being a single, will be played on the radio. Althought “Front Back” is slated as the official single, several remixes, official or not, of “Why You Wanna” have surfaced. This is my favorite out of the lot of them, I think Trey’s voice adds a different element. This song, regardless of whether Trey is on it or not, will definitely be good for those hot summer days. With Trey and T.I.P. on the track, the ladies’ll love this one.

Letoya – So Special (full) – download
A track leaked from Letoya’s album. I think that there will be a re-worked version of the song on the album, but this is a really nice track. Great production by Walter Milsap, and her adlibs are on point. The song was rumored to have been on her demo before being signed to Capitol, but apparently, the song will be featured on the album, according to letoyaonline.com. Even though I think it’s a great song, I hope it’s re-worked for the album.
