Billy Preston had battled kidney disease in his later years. Although he received a kidney transplant in 2002, his health continued to deteriorate. He died on June 6, 2006 in Scottsdale, Arizona, of complications of malignant hypertension that resulted in kidney failure and other complications. He had been in a coma since November 21, 2005.

RIP MR. William Preston.

if i remember correctly, he performed “with you i’m born again” on the last season of american idol, with vonzell solomon. he looked good on that show. REST IN PEACE!!!

Goodness gracious =( All our greats and icons have been passing away these recent years…just one after another. Seems like a sign to me.

This man was a very accomplished muscician, he will definitely be missed.

Ive never heard of this guy and that saddens me. I’ll be getting some clips of the songs from itunes or morpheus.

Rest In Peace Mr. Preston..his work with the Beatles and Ray Charles was amazing…if ya’ll havent seen him play..look around for some video of him on the organ or piano…he was an amazing man and artist…will be missed sir.

#30 Billy Preston was arrested in 1991 for a sexual attack on a 16 year old boy. I remember hearing that he was released on bail and I never heard anything else about it again.

I still liked him as a musician. Does anyone remember
“Outa Space” and “Will It Go Round In Circles?
or the him at the Beatles final rooftop concert? He was the man way back in the day. He played with everybody. He had the curliest big afro that looked unreal. But he used to get arrested like every year for coke. I guess doing mad drugs ruins your kidneys.
Too bad he died so young.
