She’s basically saying todays pop artist are taught everything(i.e.- How to wear their hair, what to say, how to perform, how to laugh, sing, feel, etc.) No one in the new breed of singers except Fantasia & Keyshia Cole sing with any type of soul, emotion or passion, it’s all so “record ompany regulated.” Those hardsdhips that Mary(Ironically most of those hardships Mary faced was in the relationship with Fantasia’s cousin K-CI, how funny is that?), Fantasia, & Keyshia experienced made them be tough women with stories to tell.
