I was actually backstage, and let me tell you, before he came out he was hyping himself up and was running back and forth from side to side and doing the George Jefferson walk really fast, it was really funny. Sorry ya’ll.. I was there at the concert last night, and that nigga ripped it! The section i was sitting in didnt want him to leave.. Essence only gave him a 30 minute set, which wasnt shit. The closed the curtain on the band, who kept playing after Bobby said “good night”. Then, he ran thru the curtains and started singing My Perogative.. The crowd went nuts.. Essence turned the mic off on him and the entire crowd kept signing the song, while he sat there listening!! Shit was wild, he stole the show! I’d pay to see him again.

I was at the Essence Festival in Houston and as far as Bobby’s performance…He left the stage and they began playing My Perrogative and he came back and the crowd was hype they let the curtain down and he came from around the curtain to do the song. The crowd wanted to hear him the sound people turned off the mic on him. The sound people messed up on everything Sunday so New Edition and Bobby Brown was cut short Jaheim was on stage trying to fight through the bad sound but Jamie Foxx work through it. The best was Doug E Fresh and the Hip Hop Pioneers. Just wanted the people to know that Bobby did his thing and the crowd showed him much Love his hype man is the one that needed to sit down

How sad. New Edition was spectacular. They had choreographed steps that captivated the audience. They must really love that Bobby because as soon as he came out, things began to change for them. First of all Bobby probably never showed up for any rehearsals, and that’s why he did his own little thing on stage. He ran from one end to the other for 30 minutes while his buddies sang to VERY choreographed songs ( they were excellent, even though Bobby was running in fromt of them, and half naked) It became sickning. I was hoping that the guys carried themselves as best as possible to deal with it. Some of us thought that they would end their segment early and walk off, but they didn’t. They stayed strong with the performance, left him out there to do his thing. Ump, Ump, Ump—he was a mess!
He was obviously being driven by something in the air?????? Non- stop . He was singing and said ” I’ve Got to Get Away for at least 20 minutes” NO KIDDING. I am not a mean person, and i screamed to him ” PLEASE GET AWAY” I am not lying , the audience was MAD . Some guy from the back ran up and whispered to him at least 3 times ( probably to warn him that the band would stop playing soon0 Well that didn’t help. 10 minutes later, the curtains began to roll down in front of him. That didn’t do it either because he stepped in front of them. NO, i stand corrected, he hopped in front of them and continued with “I’ve got to get away”. I noticed that ESSENSE and his band was still being nice, and the band continued to play BEHIND THE CURTAIN . Many were laughing, Many were also NOT laughing, and making it known by getting up and taking a break in the lobbies. FINALLY, FINALLY, in the middle of MY PEROGATIVE, which he had repeated 100 times, the music stopped. No warning, it just stopped. His 3 fans did clap for him. Oh yeh, he also got a chance to pull his pants down to a very uncomfortable level if you know what i mean. I yelled out ” there’s children in the building ” several times . A parent behind me had her 12 year old daughter with her and she was STEAMING. That Bobby episode happened after he finished grinding the floor. I don’t thing you want to hear anymore of his fiasco. Pray for him and his family. That’s the most we can do for them. We weren’t put on this earth to judge, but there’s nothing wrong with trying to help a person get better. I wish him and Whitney, their daughter the best and that they get better soon.

I didn’t know that people bring their kids to the Essence festival….why? There are no kid acts…anyways…Bobby will be Bobby! He’s still doing the same grinding moves from the 80s, nothing’s changed with him (except his gross factor).

The funny thing is now all of a sudden New Edition wants him to perform again at selected events. Bobby is an ass YES, but don’t use his celebrity status to get you gigs. A few years ago they were too good for Bob, but now that Bob is back in the spotlight, and there asses are NOT, oh Bobby can’t do no wrong…he even gets to do his own set. N.E. probably set him up and had people to boo him. Biv is the only one that got real love for him anyways. Shame!

i agree with virginia. i was in 4 in section C on the ground floor and saw the fiasco up close. new edition came out sharp and looked sharp (in white tuxes). bobby (while everyone was excited to see him initially)came out in a blue blazer, a red tie, and damn white tee. he danced a lil bit and hopped around the stage, sang a lil bit then bounced. NE set was cut after Poison then Bobby came on. He performed pieces of his songs, telling the band to go to other songs, complained about having 30 minutes and just talked ish. i could go on but the rest is and will be documented. i just hate that he feels he has to be bad bobby all the damn time.

Does anyone else notice that his body is 8 shades of ashy in the first picture. He looks like he rolls in the cocaine instead of snorting it. He, his wife, and daughter(pictures over at C&D) are sad. Its not even funny how much of a walking punchline these people are.

um #92–Chris Brown was there that night, so they definitely had acts for kiddies. I’m grown and I didn’t want to see Bobby licking himself, pulling his pants down, etc. All I know is in my section, (sec. C, row was right near the stage–folks were not happy with his performance and many were happy when they cut his mic off.

I attended the Essence Festival… I really enjoyed New Edition/Bobby Brown proformace. I do not recall Bobby being boooed…. The Show was great and I’m glad to see Bobby and New Edition back still moving like they did when they started… The crowd gave sooo much energy and it was reciprocated. I personally enjoyed Bobby /New Edition and thats what I also felt from the crowd. ( You look for Negative you will find it, You look for Positive you will also find it, it’s time to balance the both….)
