Man, I guess they eat mighty good in prison. To the people complaining about stars getting preferential treatment, ordinary folks get time off for good behavior also. I do agree with #55 that celebs do get more opportunities after they have a scrape with the law. Mike Tyson is a great example, that man has committed so many crimes, but he still was giving a chance to make money in boxing, because he could generate ticket sales. If he was not washed up, his crazy ass would be boxing now. Even though America is my home and I love it here, there is a problem with how justice is administered. Like in the military, officers can do horrific crimes and get a slap on the wrist, but if you are enlisted they will try to court-martial you. It is still a huge class problem in America and life is not always fair for the lower middle-class and below.

BTW I am glad the Kim is out, I hoped that she learned her lesson. I really think she will have a different outlook on life and will become a better person. This incident may be a blessing, if she really learned from this incident and reach out to the younger people, the effect that she will have on the youth has the potential to be profound.

Let me say this…
I’ve spent more time with Kim than anyone on this board has and I know people who work with her. As we were in a professional capacity I can’t say I “know” her, but she’s always been nice to me. Anyone who has been around Kim would love her, as she definitely has a sweet, loving personality.
However, although I realize Kim went to jail because of her loyalty to “friends” who turned out not to be, her loyalty was misguided. She lied to a federal court when there was irrefutable evidence that placed her and her “friends” at a crime scene. That’s just stupid and she should sue her trial lawyer if he advised her to do so.
Kim struggles mightily with self-esteem as many black women do. Her surgeries are indicative of that. Plastic surgery is not uncommon in the entertainment industry, but altering yourself to the point where you have diminished your attractiveness not improved it, is hardly the effect you seek. It’s apparent when that happens that you continue to seek surgery for unseen flaws and ultimately go overboard.
I lost respect for Kim when I saw the depiction of her on her reality show. It showed a group of grown black people acting irresponsibly and childishly. Not only did it not represent Kim well, by extension it didn’t represent black women well.
While I understand Kim’s connection to the community -because so many can relate to her struggle, at some point you have a responsibility to elevate those you touch. Mary J. Blige has been an amazing example of that, while Kim has remained mired in the hood mentality so many seek to overcome. That’s why at the end of the day, I don’t feel the same.
I must point out one thing though…I still respect Kim as an artist. So for all of those folks who posted her in support of her where were her album sales while she was in prison? “The Naked Truth” may have been her best work overall, and it’s barely gold in the U.S. (although there are apparently plans to release it again in November.) Posting on a message board, especially if you can neither write, spell, or punctuate doesn’t make you a fan, but supporting your girl when she’s down does.
