I’m kind of annoyed because for the past year and a half I’ve rocked a tail. I’m an artist in LA, and my hair right now is very much like Kelis’s, but natural. It’s cute. Black people have said the craziest things about the tail. Now Kelis does it, and it’s trendsetting. Not quite. And I ‘m not sayin I ‘m the only one with my style, cuz I know the sistas are rockin other punk/80’s styles in NYC. When Kelis and I last crossed paths, she had a press, and I had a fauxhawk. Was she “inspired” then? Anyway, Dawn Robinson from EnVogue has a similar cut to Kelis, without the shavings (I did shavings too). I think Dawn also has a small tail… It’s f’d up that some people will now think I (and other not-as-famous) copied Kelis.
Bottom line, she aint no trendsetter; she is simply the only famous person with a cut in that vein. And on the streets, she’s late.
