ONE MORE THING - I CANNOT SAY ONE PERSON IN THE GAME THAT HAS AALIYAH’S CLASS OR PERSONA - THE INDUSTRY SURE COULD USE A ROLE MODEL LIKE HER.

When I heard of the death, that was the first time I cried over someone I had never met passing. She was truly an angel. They took a picture of her sleeping when they were on the Island filming “Rock the Boat”, and she looked like an angel.

I am a true Aaliyah fan and when she passed I cried so hard my mom stated that I acted like she was my cousin. But in reality, I really did feel like I knew her through her work and persona. She was a great individual who will STILL be truly miss. RIP Aaliyah.

2001 was not a good year for planes. I loved Aaliyah, I was able to meet her. She was cool, fly, and humble. A lot of people don’t like Damon Dash, but I think if she was still here it would have been different. I don’t know they just complimented each other. RIP babaygirl..your memory will live on.

I can not believe that 5 yrs has gone by so fast. I truly enjoyed Aaliyah’s music and am saddened by her death. I was stunned when I found out and could not believe it.
This is every mother’s nightmare to lose a child.
I am sure the wound could still be fresh for her mother. God Bless her family!!

You know, Liyah wasn’t the Whitney of our generation, but she was a very good singer that could do very beautiful things with her voice…those high notes she could hit were SERIOUS (I Care 4 U was CRAZY…she did the DAMN THANG on it). It pisses me off to know that she was actually a talented singer, dancer, and actress…but you got “artists” out here like Cassie who can’t sing or dance their way out of a paper bag with a hole in it but still manage to get a record deal. Had Aaliyah lived there wouldn’t have been no room for that bullshit because she set the bar.

With that being said…RIP Aaliyah…your artistry and talent are sorely missed.

Man..At Your Best is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard….

God must be enjoying having the Angel named “Aaliyah” sing to HIM everyday…

I don’t like Pop or watered-down R&B, but I LOVED Aaliyah and her music. She NEVER comprimised her music by doing sh*t that was not her and she NEVER showed her *SS like most of the newer artists do to sell records. Aaliyah had INTEGRITY.

I’m still so sadden by her death. She was so Angelic. I was living in Germany, and I remember my mouth flying open and cover it with my hands to keep myself from screaming when I saw on the newa. I remember scrambling for the phone so someone could tell me. Girl no they didn’t say Aaliyah they said alisha anthing that came close too it. I’m still sad about her death.

I remember just like it was yesterday…. When the news broke I was at one of my closest friends birthday party… The DJ kept pumping her “new joint” at the time, which was, “Rock the Boat”… By the time I made it home later that night (early morning), I saw a news flash on MTV, saying she’d died in a Plane Crash…. By that time…My friend girl had called me to see if I saw the news flash.. I was in such shock that it felt like it was unreal…

I also recall MTV doing an interview with her a few months earlier.. And, at one point towards the end of the interview, they asked her what type of Legacy would she like to leave…She said what type of Legacy she’d like to leave but then, she also mentioned she kept having this “reoccurring dream” that she was “flying / floating on air”… I remember her saying, “it was wonderful feeling”…

So, having said that… I know she’s definitelty resting in Peace…

Losing Aaliyah was a very hard pill to swallow. I think mostly because she has just begun to reach the peak of her career and because she was so close in age to me and my peers and then just like that, she was taken away. Although, I didn’t know her, I felt like someone in my family died. It was very different from the deaths of Tupac (R.I.P) and Biggie (R.I.P.). This was America’s “Babygirl”! Though we know she was not perfect, her presence was just so graceful, humble and warm. Then the tragedy of 9-11 occurred and that was it for me. I was numb emotionally. Then it was Left-Eye who died in a car crash, Merlin Santana killed while sitting in a car, Jam Master Jay killed in his studio and Dino from H-Town who was killed in a car accident. (a lot things happen in clusters, and this was one of them) I definitely thought God was trying to tell us something or wake us up. We should enjoy every moment of our lives because we don’t know when a moment might be our last. I’m hoping the last moment is far far far away for myself and everyone reading this post. .. That being said…R.I.P. Aaliyah aka “Babygirl”

Her death hit me hard b/c we are the exact same age our birthdays’ are in Jan 1979. But I have been a fan since “Back N Forth” and will always be one. The most beautiful thing about Aaliyah is that she’s bringing all of us together right now to say positive things and to take a look at some stuff in our lives. I was so down after that for a while. RIP Aaliyah. I have every CD she made including her and Romeo Must Die is one of my favorite movies. She became my favorite female artist with One In A Million. If she was still alive she would definetly be next level.
