Or implying that Rihanna’s complexion is an anomaly in the Caribbean. There is a mix of all complexions in Barbados just like every other Caribbean island…there are lighter than Rihanna and all in between to the girl’s complexion.
I luv how the hot pink bikini looks on her and on another site there were other pics and her body is banging too.
and to the person (#10)offended by how ppl spoke about LeAndra yet you go and compare the dark skin guy to Taye from how stella got her groove back, how stereotypical is that…The island boy who is gonna romance you and give it to you good….sMH
and that blackamus thing sounds like ex school mates being jealous Rihanna doesnt splurge on them or consider them friends…..aka sour grapes
I’m probably the one of the dark-skinned people on this blog……….. not as Dark as that Chick but im a DARK CHOCOLATE. And nothing hurts more to see BLACK PEOPLE, NOT WHITE PEOPLE, make fun of dark-skinned people. It just sad to see people not appreciate dark color nowadays. Everybody is sooooo into light-skin, and everything thats light. But just kno that there is BEAUTY in the Chocolate color and Dark chocolate. And don’t for once think that someone isn’t Beautiful just bcuz they are Dark-skinned. DO NOT EVER. THAT GURL IS JUST AS BEAUTIFUL AS RIHANNA, OR MAYBE EVEN MORE.
I feel like it is only black americans that consider a lighter skin tone as a sign of beauty. In the Caribbean and Latin countries it’s not that extreme. It’s a shame when you hear black men make comments about dark women. White people have brainwashed our men into thinking that european features are more attractive. Even thought black men are lusted after by women of all races, white people still view them as uneducated and do as much as they can to keep the black man down. It’s a little ironic that they consider them fuckable but not intelligent. Everyone has there preference but we are feeding into their perceptions of us. If we could only support each others talents and beauty maybe we could make it somewhere in this country.
P.S. I don’t want controversy because I love black men but I feel like they don’t love me.
why so people always say black women aren’t naturally skinny?i see black women in all shapes and sizes…tall, short, thick, thin;so i think it’s wrong to single out sistas who aren’t “thick”.where i work,i see all types and they’re all beautiful.i remember when i was younger and thin, people use to make me feel like i was less attractive because i was smaller(not even skinny).too bad i was insecure and naive and went on a thick diet and didn’t appreciate my beautiful naturally slim but curvy self.what is up with black people?someones too dark, too light, too thick, too skinny.just shutup
#53 you are wrong. If miss “you know who” ’s posts go up to 200+ because she was in the biggest group in the world since the supremes ( I beg to differ, but whatever) , then how come Kelly and Michelle’s posts don’t do the same. Its the “light skin is better” mentality. If Bee was as dark as Rihanna’s friend, she would not be big at all. Neither would Ciara or Cassie
I think Black People are seperated as it is by a numer of things:
1.Dark Skin/Light Skin
2.Gangs
3.Interacial Dating(Not saying that its bad but it is way too common, and personally I think it is stressing our black men/black women relationships.)
4.Media
5.Overall:Ignorance
Black people are beautiful, but honestly I think we are our biggest enemies. We are dying from our own culture. Kids dont have good home training so they go out and try to imitate a thug b/c thats what caucasion society see’s young black youth as and it’s ridiculous. Im what society would consider as light skinned but just the same,Ive had people discriminate. No matter what, black is black, that is how white people are gonna see you so why do we do this to ourselves? On another subject the reason a lot of black men stray is because they are not taught to love their black women. We really need to teach our culture to love our people before anything else, because no one will do it.
I’m not really sure what’s going on BLACK PEOPLE? Ignorance on this board it prevelant in concentrated levels! That dark-skinned girl is absolutely beautiful. From what I can see, her facial features are nice soft and refined. As well, her body is banging. A nice azz, nice stomach and an overall toned body. Also, the brotha is dark and attractive all the same. We all know how society views blacks but it’s more demeaning to allow black men who’re at the bottom within the world to degrade black women. Yeah I said it. Why does the black man suffer from such self hate? It’s typically the black man who seeks out the companionship of a non-black. Black men and women suffer the same discrimination, but it seems to be the black man who’s the weaker of the two and falls prey to self-hate.
1st of all why do african american insist on putting labels to our own people, (dark boy, lighter girl and so on)the white men invented that and unfortunately until this day it remains in our minds….please drop the slave attitude it doesn´t suit us anymore in fact it never did!!!
2nd….ri is a little chunky and i see no problem in that….
In about 100 years or less there won’t be any more “dark-skinned” people on this planet, not even in the Caribbean because the white man would have succedeed in brainwashing 99% of us into believing that it’s ugly and unacceptable to be dark. Either that or dark people will become an endangered species that are only limited to Africa.
This is not a stretch if you think about how global and open-minded we’ve become about interracial relationships. Dark-skinned people only constitute a small percentage of the world’s population now anyway so it’s not that difficult to fathom.
So in essence, all the folks who think this discussion is stupid or who thinks people are buggin’ won’t even have to worry about their children and grandchildren having this same discussion because there won’t be anything to discuss. Just think about that.
Just a theory from someone that has a stake in black people’s future.
Now ya’ll know that it’s rare to find a dark skin person these days, so ya’ll better be nice to us because we add the flavor that a lot of you redbones lack.
To all the contributers…I REALLY DON’T LIKE THE NEW AVATARS….Angela looks like Bobby Christin’a big sister, Brian’s facial expression is irritating(luv the locs though), and Tianna looks like Big Lez…STOP CHANGING THEM…they keep getting worse…AND HOPEFULLY YOU WON’T ERASE THIS COMMENT AGAIN…It’s funny how people can dish it and not take it…I thought this was an open forum….
In an essence, Rihanna’s boyfriend looks like Flava Flav from the side…But they all do look cute together, as if they are having fun. There’s nothing with people who have a dark skin tone. I think it’s quite hot…For the girl in the pink bathing suit, her complexion goes nice with the pink.
Whoa 122 Flava is on another level of shrivelled raisin….dude is not attractive and it has nothing to do with skin color and ur gonna compare that young guy to Flave???
Can I just say, for all the folks sayin that only Black Americans put such emphasis on skin color, I think you should study world issues more. In India and other Asian countries, dark complextions are undesirerable and associated with being poor. When women want to get a husband, they don’t dare go out in the sun for fear of getting darker. Also, skin bleaching in common in these countries. And in Puerto Rico, it is the same, the darker you are, for the most part, the poorer the area you live in. Have you ever watched Telemundo? The main stars are light, and the servants and so forth are dark.
I’m not saying it’s right, I’m just stating facts. So no, it’s CERTAINLY NOT JUST AMERICANS!!!!!!
@ PhillyLala, that’s so true. People just don’t know. Ever been to Sao Paolo, Brazil, or any part of Brazil for that matter? It’s rampant as hell there. And in Africa, they were facing a major crisis a few years ago because women were getting ill from the bleaching creams they were using. It was due to the poisonous content in the creams. I think it happened in South Africa.
I guess I can’t get mad at folks for not knowing these things though because very few people travel outside of the four corners of their cities or states and even fewer people read up on these types of subjects.
#103, Oslin- Are you “misspriss” the grammar police from C&D? Anyway, you might want to try taking a course as well, seeing that you had a misspelled word: grammar not grammer.
posters on this site (n i presume the majority are african american) have always been hugely colour struck…i knew these “oh (s)he’s dark!” comments wud crop up as soon as i viewed the pics..never fails…sadly…self hate…on the real, as sum people have commented, that “dark” chick is fine
LMAO @ 127 for calling out Oslin. That was precious (pun intended). Yeah, she is a MissPriss. Tried to get on my shit in another post by calling me a racists just ’cause I said Russell Simmons like his women light, bright and damn near white. She don’t even know what complexion I am! I could be light, bright and damn near white my damn self!
@ kandi
It’s not that Bey has a lighter complexion than Kelly and Michelle, but sorry to say she is a far better performer and singer than the two. Not even tryna knock Kelly and Michelle’s skills, but it’s the truth. Beyonce is a better entertainer and has a wider range and strong voice.

@#66 How the hell did you not know her hair was fake? R you black? If not then that would explain why yo would think so…I mean tell me which black female celebrity besides Chili and Kelis that doesnt wear a weave? Not many right?… As for the light eyes comment, some black people have light light eyes(Beyonce,Stacey Dash,my ex- boyfriend)Rihanna isnt any different.
I am Afriacn-American, thanks. I don’t just think all black women have weaves. I have very long hair, so I have learned not to prejudge my fellow sisters. Just as we all come in different shades of brown; we all come with different hair types, textures, and lengths. I actually thought her hair was real. It’s been the same length for practically all of her career. Most black celeb women had shorter hair when they first appeared on the scene (Eve, Nia, Jada, Lil Kim, Janet, Raven, Brandy, etc.) so of course we knew they were weaving it.
The eyes comment was a joke, though I wouldn’t put it past her now. LOL As if I don’t know Afrian-Americans can have eye colors other than brown. But there are just as many frontin all the time with the colored contacts, so your point is invalid (But thanks for mentioning your ex-boyfriend… yes, you’re definitely proving me incorrect now). Funny how out of everything on this post you try to dog me about the hair issue. (My good-breeding forces me to say this on the inside: HOE SIT DOWN!)
DAMN! why does everything have to lead to the color OR shade of your skin? This is something else. Like Tupac says “the darker the flesh, the deeper the roots,” I think we should all appreciate the various shades of beauty we come in.
Light-skinned neggas started this mess with their brown paper bags! If you were darker than that bag, you couldn’t enter the party!
#120 SexyQB
You must mean in America or the city where you live, because there are 23 million black Africans and 10 million in Texas, Florida and Mississippi! They don’t come out until after dark, to keep from getting dissed by light-skinned folks!
I too have felt the pain of rejection from light skinned sisters, dark skinned sisters, Latino sisters, Asian sisters, Indian sisters, middle-eastern sisters, white sisters, my friend’s sisters and midgets just because of my skin color….and believe me…..it hurts. And I for one think it’s time to stop the hate.
So to all females no matter your color. Let’s unite and rise above the pettiness of skin color. I for one am willing to offer my services and body as a catalyst for change.
Sorry, Rhianna is not a cute girl, AT ALL! She’s plain, bordering ugly! I was surprised to see her look like this because make-up does wonders for her. She looks totally different now than when she does when she’s made up! I was surprised to know that that was her….I hate to say this, but she almost looks like a ape from the side. And her body is not proportional at all…she needs to work her thighs out a bit, maybe shape them up, not necessarily lose weight. But DANG, I can’t get over how different she looks on these pictures as opposed to any of the other made-up shots. Beyonce out shines this girl any day!
@ 133 Beans Hell, I’m black and I didnt think Ri Ri had a weave either.
WTF at the chunky comments. That girl is not even close to chunky. You are really on some shit right now.
It’s sad how obsessed the black community is with skin tone. It’s time to stop blaming the white community and admit that this shade obsession is a black phenomenon. As a teenager, I began to realize how little my looks were valued in the black community, while amongst whites/Asians I have always been considered beautiful. My advice to dark-skinned women is to open up your dating options.
My husband(white) still thinks I’m the most beautiful woman in the world after being together for over six years. After reading this board, I am sure I would not have found a man of his family/educational background who would have wanted to make a life with me as a dark-skinned black woman.
nope rihanna will not become anerexic she visits barbados too much and any bajan will try to feed her as soon as she walks into their house thatnuust how it is down there..besides they would talk about her so stink if she was to start looking anerexic
TO daniaT: I feel you sista. I really do. And as a dark skinned woman I totally understand. White people sometimes DO appreciate more than blacks. I ALWAYS get the white (mostly european men) tryna holla at me.
HOWEVER, hell no. I love my black men. I mean, there are attractive men in every race, but I LOVE LOVE my BLACK men…Light, dark, nappy, wavy, braids, locks, ceasar! Love em, lol. ANd there ARE black men that appreciate dark skin, like my man.
Oh but I’m happy you found love, period. Thats golden.
Black is black I cant believe yall still hooked on that spike lee school daze shit cut it out with the self hatred. If some of cannot appreciate the various shades of our people, keep that ignorant shit to yourselves put a H on your motherf—king chest and handle that shit. Now as far as Rhianna is concerned she does have a nice shape and as a matter of fact, it’s almost equivalent to beyonce’s, so maybe just maybe he’s a little confused as to who should and shouldn’t be fucking with.
wow @ some of these DUMB ass comments. rihanna is just enjoying her well-needed break. she probably had her hands closed because the water was cold, or she was too afraid to get in. i know i do that all the time when someone is holding my hand by the water.

Sorry folks.
