I think that real music is about passion and evoking emotion and that is why I feel people are so fascinated with Beyonce and skeptical at the same time. How can you have this perfect life and family and then come out of left field with this very passionate ish? I’m definitely feelin’ Kitty Kat! Not too fond of Freakum Dress, that will definitely have to grow on me. I’ve heard a couple other songs than the two posted and I know I’ll definitely buy the album. I love all of the leaked songs. I like “deep” songs too. I love Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, etc, but there is a time and place for everything. Why do you have to like one style of music. I like apples but can’t I also like oranges, kiwi, etc. The negativity on this post sounds just like all of the people who tried to crap on the snap movement (when it first started) saying it wasn’t real music. In a time like this people need something they can feel good about and not have to think to hard about , a form of escapism.

Kelis stole that Diamonds on my neck from Smitty (MIA-305 for those who don’t know) but everyone is actin like Kelis originated it. C’mon peeps every style from every artist is recycled. Hence the words retro and vintage. There ain’t nothin new under the sun. Even people who we label trendsetters have gotten their styles from a different era whether it be the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, or 80s. More than 3/4 of music now is sampled but credit should be given where credit is due. When something is clearly good call it like it is and hate to say it but when something is clearly struggling like Kelis’ vocal ability call it struggling. Not hatin on Kelis to promote Bey but everything put out by an artist is not going to be favorable to everyone.

I finally got to listen to the whole album and it’s actually pretty good. It’s a just a little short. I wish she added one more ballad or mid tempo song. I think the songs are pretty creative, her vocals are really strong…it’s a fun party album. Good workout CD too. I actually prefer it to Dangerously in Love. She sounds like she grew up a little, she seems much more confident.

Now, I’m sorry, but I just looked at the Kelis performance post and read all of the encouraging comments and excuses people made up for the reason she can’t perform or sing, including - “she doesn’t have to know how to sing cause she’s rock” (which btw… that is NOT rock) and I have to admit people are being a little extra hard on Bee this time around. I mean, I’ve been mostly critical of her and her new singles (which i’m still not feeling) and have even been attacked by some of her Stans on this site, but honestly even on her worst day Bee’s better that most people out here. I like Kelis, Janet etc. just like everyone else, but I’m sorry, there new music has not been anything to write home about and they all have really been getting a pass. Even my girls Toya’s album was decent, but it’s nothing that hasn’t been doen 20x B4. I think Bee’s a victim of her own success. If she were an underdog everyone would be rooting for her right now.
