Janet’s #1 fan since “Control” - and while I’m pulling for this album to have several hits on it; I’m just not feeling the couple of tracks I’ve heard so far… (and maybe that’s because I’m at work and can’t bump this new one at my desk like I want too) and considering how a song sounds totally different at the club or in your car; it may actually BE hot!! I’ll reserve judgement for later on this one, after a few more spins…

My take on the whole thing is; if Janet wants to sell this album, if she still wants to prove that she has it; mid tempo, average sounding, underproduced, 80’s sounding songs with no… umph, just won’t do it. I’m buying the album simply because I want it to be successful; but I’m wondering what the people at the record company could possibly be thinking with this being Janet’s “do or die” album and them not being proactive in their choice of material.

i appreciate all of these posts because as a janet fan i want to know what others have to say about the song. however i have been saying the same thing about the vocals. janet is an entertainer and a performer but she needs to bust out some lyrics and stop laying on top of the music. i don’t understand why they pay so little attention to her voice and so much attention to the sound. in the end the fans will make it what it becomes, not the average listener.

I’m torn with this song. On one hand, I think the chorus is hot as fuck. With the organ and the drums? Fire! this track knocks sooo hard. i heard it in the club this past weekend and the crowd loved it soo much that the DJ kept running it back and playin it again. Call on Me was a nice subtle way to bring Janet back. It did eventually go to number on the R&B charts and it’s still in the top % as we speak. It’s was also number 1 for like a week straight on 106. So she is doing something right. Thats the purpose of this album to go back to her R&B roots. I hope So Excited gets there to. Its gaining airplay as we speak.
