EURWEB recently talked to Jennifer Hudson at a private screening of the movie, and she still can’t believe she is apart of this popular production.
“I always wanted to do ‘Dreamgirls’ on Broadway and I wound up in the movie of ‘Dreamgirls’ and to sit back and watch and say I did that? I’m in a movie? It’s a dream. It’s nothing short of it,” she told us.
Hudson also admitted that she always dreamt of doing Effie as well because she is a huge fan of Jennifer Holliday, who created the part on Broadway.
“I grew up singing ‘I’m Changing’ and ‘I’m Telling You’ just for my performance songs and now it’s my music and I’m going to be singing this for the rest of my life,” Hudson said. “And … c’mon now, Jennifer Holliday … I think she is one of the greatest vocalists of all times. To be able to shadow her, to come behind her and do this, are you serious? I get to be the one?! I think the world of her.” [SOURCE]

JOSEPH…Agreed! She was too extra. Her facial expressions annoyed some people I think. Fantasia is a better entertainer. They have different singing styles so I’m not going to get into who can sing better than whom. Trust me, next to Fantasia; she was my pick to win it all. This way I get the best of both worlds.
CHEEZITS…Great point. The Grammy’s and Oscars are too different beasts. Many “unknown” actors received either an Oscar or a nomination.
i would just like to say that this girls voice is blessed. i was looking at the trailer of the movie and i had to play that part of her singing back. wow! her vocal range is amazing. maybe her losing the american idol thing was just a blessing in disguise. everything happens for a reason. can wait for this movie to come out. im actually excited
N-O-B-O-D-Y will ever be able to blow like Jennifer Holiday her voice is heavenly. But I must say that Jennifer Hudson got some of the same blessing (not all of it) that Jennifer Holiday got.

You can never tell about these awards shows nowadays. Sometimes it seems that the people who vote on the nominees just decide to throw out certain awards to try to bridge the racial divide yet leaving true actors and singers in the lurch without well deserved recognition. Who knows?
