VIVICA TALKS ABOUT GOSSIP BLOGS; PLASTIC SURGERY
Tuesday, August 15, 2006

Our girl Vivica A. Fox recently sat down with BET.COM to discuss, rather, not discuss those plastic surgery issues. They even mentioned gossip blogs on there. Here go a snippet:
BET.com: There are a lot of photos of you and other Black celebs on the recent crop of Black gossip blogs. Are you aware of any comments about the way you look and if so, how do you feel about it?
VF: I could care less. People are going to say what they want to say. I’m in the entertainment business, and they may prefer to be mean and cruel, but they’re entitled to their opinions. It’s life in a fishbowl. They love to build you up and break you down. It’s better to brush it off your shoulder. People like you or they don’t, but it does make you sad that your own people can be so negative. I’d love to follow them around all day and see what they look like on a 24-hour basis.
BET.com: You’ve been quoted in the past as saying that you’re OK with plastic surgery.
VF: Is this interview about plastic surgery? I don’t care. If we could skip over that, I would so appreciate it. I have said before that if plastic surgery is something that people want to go do, then do it. End of plastic surgery.
Dang, now I feel all bad. Yeah we are a little negative when we discuss her plastic surgery operations, but damn Viv, we do it because you didn’t need to get them!! You looked better before you did all that shit to your face.
In related news, check for Vivica & Emmitt Smith on the new season of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars premiering on September 12th. Should be entertaining..

Maybe people have been a little cruel to Vivica lately but what do you expect when you go from being attractive to looking like Madam from Solid Gold. Yes Vivica, people are gonna talk. Black and white.
Oh yes, Vivica also thinks her shit don’t stink. I’ve listened and seen her in a couple of interviews. Do you all remember how she went off on Jimmy Kimmel because he said something about Star Jones. Star Jones! Another one who thinks her shit don’t stink.
These sistas are a trip. They can be bossy and go around thinking they’re better than everybody else but as soon as someone says something unplesant about them, the black community should be up in arms and on their side. Bitch please!

I get what Vivica is saying. If someone wants to get plastic surgery and can afford it, I say do it. Who are we to tell her what she should do with her life. If she’s happy why should we worry. I agree with the part “your own people talk about you”. We have come a long way. How many of us have weaves? Why did you get a weave?
To each his own. Kudos Vivica.

i swear there was an article years ago where she said if she needs a little here and there she will get it. and it not being a big deal. was it vanity fair or something. the writer was talking about the jogging suit she had on etc….
she admitted it back in the day. i guess being caught in the vicious cycle made her bitter.

@78 I get a weave because I don’t feel like doing my hair.
Viv got plastic surgery because she did not like the way she looks….. how does those two things add up?
I love myself and I am proud of my black heritage (both bahamian and americn) so I love my big nose and my full sexy lips I also love my kinky/curly/whatever you want to call it hair.
She looked better before she went and touched her face so did Micheal, Janet, SWSNBN, Tyra, Kimora and all the other people who did it. I don’t believe that black people should be fooling around with that unless you need it and not like OMG my nose is too big need it I mean _ got into an accident and _ want _face reconstructed. I guess that is the thing to do in hollywood though.

For the record, it isn’t just us being hard on each other. Check out
Awfulplasticsurgery.com
Others are just as hard on each other, they just lack the “humor” if that’s what you want to call it, that we have.
I bet if some chick walked by, Vivica would be the main one tearing her to shreds.

I don’t feel bad! Her transformation was too big for people to ignore… if a big, fat, pink elephant was sitting in my living room, I wouldn’t try and squeeze past it to watch TV! I’d be like who put this pink, fat thing in my house…nuff said!

I agree with the comments about Viv having low self-esteem. If she truly loved herself she wouldn’t feel the need to have work done on her face. I always thought of Viv as a beautiful sexy black woman in the past but now she went so far to remove what made her beautiful in the first place.I honestly feel sorry for her. There is something missing in her shallow life in Hollywood. Thank God I don’t look up to these people

Whoever mentioned the Old Lil’ Kim, she looked better in the face then. So did Viv pre-plastic. Look at Janice Dickenson, she looks horrible now, too. I know that societal pressures say that we women should look a certain way and be a certain size- but you have to know when enough’s enough. Why are we as a society so anti-aging andd anti-self?

First and foremost, Viv wears her emotions on her arms (is that the saying??). She needs a publicist or something because she been in the game TOO long to still respond to things in such a juvenile way. That’s why that whole 50Cent thing had her looking foolish because every response was ghetto and senseless. When she keeps her mouth shut, she looks graceful and intelligent….then she speaks! I like Vivica cause she’s all about uplifting and supporting her brothers and sisters, but she really needs to be more cautious about her image. There’s a better way to make us assume she really didn’t do anything to her face/body, but her speech gives it all away.
Nonetheless, I wish her the best and will watch & support her on Dancing with the Stars.

I don’t feel sorry for Viv at all cos she didnt need it, she should have gone to a therapist to sort out her insecurities before she took them drastic steps.
Her face is a hot mess and we only call it as we see it. If your gonna fuck ur face up with plastic surgery you might as well stand up and admit it.

I agree, if Vivica wanted to say something, or express her opinion about someone, she’ll tear you up, her damn self! She know she messed herself up, HAM.
Anyway, I still love Vivica “fishlips” Fox, she is still talented, she got insecure tying to be with someone who was too young for her and wanted to look young, when all she had to do was be with her own kind. If you gonna do the plastic surgery, just admit it cause everybody knows it, you look worse when you try to be defensive about it….

She shouldn’t give a damn about what these blog sites say about her. This world is cruel enough as it is and you have to have a thick skin to deal with what people say. I’m not really a fan of hers, but I do wish her the best in life. I feel that everyone should like what they see in themselves no matter what hollywood says.

I can’t believe you say you want to move behind the camera because of negative comments on this WORLD WIDE WEB. You HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMEN in hollywood - ALWAYS. Black AMericans flock to your movies. DOESN’T THAT PROVE they love you. AGAIN, this is the world wide web full of jealous evil people. If you were not a GREAT woman the inferior ones would not be hating on you. All GREAT people suffer under the weight of it. STAY STRONG and keep doing what you’re doing for the BILLIONS who love you.

Vivica the ENTIRE AMERICAN COMMUNITY is suffering under the weight of hatred that has entered our country since the borders were opened wide in the 1990s. 911 and all the other hateful acts didn’t go down because they loved US. The poor/middle class black americans are being shoved out of their jobs by Africans and Caribbean blacks while you hollywood blacks with money are being conned into helping their communites and into marrying them so that they can have free reign to raid your pocketbooks. I couldn’t believe it when I heard that Isaac Hayes married an African to leave his legacy too. He looks like HELL now. I couldn’t believe he fell for the con and allowed them to name him king of a section of their jungle so they could use him to help Africans instead of American blacks. We need jobs. We need help and the black americans who have benefited the most from our civil rights movements are being conned to help those people who are jealous and hate us. WE HAVE NO MORE AFFIRMATIVE action. The gov’t never intended affirmative action to last forever. Those who were blessed with the benefits of Affirmative Action should be putting their money into creating jobs for American blacks. These foreign ones won’t even speak to an American black UNLESS THEY WANT SOMETHING - our money. If you are really worried about your security you should stay OUT OF these foreign countries. Women and men who travel there are bringing back the AIDS virus to our community. That is why they are NOW saying that our infection rate is as high as the third world. This down low theory is stupid. Don’t bed their ghetto men. We have plenty of OUR OWN. Pick ONE UP. Polish Him, mold him and make him into the man you want him to be. Don’t give up on him. Inspite of their treachery they were raised in a Christian society. His whole family won’t be working against you to destroy you. People who are raised in voodoo culture say the God they serve is both GOOD AND EVIL. Con is a voodoo family VALUE. It is how they survive.

I love you Vivica. Can’t wait to see you dancing. I know you’re going to be one of the BEST. What I really like about you is how you are one of the most versatile women in hollywood. You can play a regular sista, doctor, private eye, comedy and NOT ONLY DO IT BUT DO IT WELL. If you can’t find one of our good black american brothers to appreciate you, then don’t hesitate to find a white american one. There are many non-rascist white men who would love for you to brighten up their world, treat you well, and bring you all the joy that you deserve.

In 1998, the passage of Proposition 209 ended the programs in California and led to — what many activists say — a steady decline in African American enrollment. Critics say that the rising number of black immigrants and their children, such as Amajoyi, at the universities has further decreased outreach efforts to African Americans and have raised concerns that American- born blacks will again be left behind.

The influx has other potential implications, from recalibrating the largely monolithic way white America views blacks to raising concerns that American-born blacks will again be left behind.
“Historically, every immigrant group has jumped over American-born blacks,” said Eric Foner, the Columbia University historian. “The final irony would be if African immigrants did, too.”
START HELPING YOUR OWN PEOPLE.

In fact, black immigrants do make slightly more than native born blacks in Queens, but white immigrants make more than their native white counterpart.
This is why our country is being destroyed. These NEW immigrants are taking over and bringing all the problems of their homelands with them. Black and White Americans are suffering. The hollywood community doesn’t need to help them. Help your own AMERICAN PEOPLE.

Vivica you need to stay away from those foreigners and help your girlfriend lisa raye get away before she’s broke. Ebony said she already has gotten her foot broke and she’s still in the honeymoon stage. Have you all learned nothing from what happened to terry mcmillan. Terry is an extremely smart old woman. If a gay jamaican could con her into beleiving that he is straight shows you the power of the VOODOO.

I totally understand Vivicas’ ‘tude. But if you’re a public figure, that kind of scrutiny comes with the job! If somebody paid me hella’ kind’a money, I’d let ‘em follow me everywhere, even to the bathroom and let ‘em watch while I wiped my ass!!!
She looked better before, and that’s a judgement that the public has every right to voice. Now a little improvement on some disfigurement, that’s another thing. MJackson needed a nose job as a young man, cause that nose he had as a teen was ugly. But when vanity exceeds nessecity, HOUSTON, WE HAVE A PROBLEM!!!
Patti Labelle got a nose job, cool… she knew when to stop, however. Lil Kim, she needed to stop a long time ago… she’s making herself into a grotesque FREEK.
When a public figure becomes almost unidentifiable to the public, what are we supposed to do.. ignore the 300 pound gorilla in the room? GIT REAL!
