MTV VJ LaLa Vazquez and her fiancé, NBA star Carmelo Anthony, are expecting their first child together in March, Vazquez’s rep, Jack Ketsoyan, confirms exclusively to PEOPLE.COM
This will be the first child for both. The couple, engaged since Christmas Day 2004, plan to wed after the baby’s birth.
Vazquez, 27, is a VJ for MTV shows including TRL, Spring Breakdown and Direct Effect. Anthony, 22, a forward for the Denver Nuggets, won a bronze medal as a member of the U.S. Olympic basketball team in 2004.
“The couple is very excited and they can’t wait until the arrival of their new baby,” say Ketsoyan.

I am so not disturbed by a brother making a million dollars plus on a guaranteed contract (guaranteed if he has a career-ending injury or is dead for that matter) having a baby out of wedlock. At least Carmelo can afford it. LaLa is on the MTV payroll so a sistah has a job and career. Kim Porter has no discernible source of income that I’ve ever heard of aside from child support. So they can’t be compared.
As long as the two of them are in sync about how to raise the child and spend the quality time needed to raise it when or if they get married is nobody’s business but theirs. Now these teenagers with no jobs living up in mama’s house still trying to go to a Chris Brown concert, those kids the ones I’m worried about.
