Beyonce’s dance break was almost Rythm Nation…I was expecting to see Janet Jackson to come out as a special guest.

Jack Black - Didnt do to well in my opinion

Justin was flat in the beginning but was pretty good
Timbaland is getting big again

Beyonce did good overall she was the best but it did make me miss the old Janet

Lil Kim didnt get the love I expected from the crowed. I expected some rappers to give her an ovation that would spread over the crowed.

Shakira did good I always like looking at her perform.

Over all the awards was not all that good. They need to recapture that vibe of some of the older shows. Maybe Dave Chapelle as host and not so many dry bands…we like to see performances not a band play all the time.

The award show was a complete waste of money and artist who didn’t win anything, time. The best part of the show was Beyonce’s performance and the tribute to Hype Williams. Seeing Justin Timberlake perform those songs actually made me like them. The beats are fiyah. Is Timbaland gaining his weight back?? Jack Black was a huge disappointment, I mean major upset. Last but not least, I’m not a Beyonce stan, but the can’t be fucked with when it comes to performing! Rather she stole moves or not, she rocked that shit!

The funniest part was when some strange mystery guy took the mic from JLO for best video and gave a shout out to remy ma. Am I the only person who noticed that, cuz MTV tried to cut the cameras to the audience while they took the guy off the stage. lol!

Beyonce’s performance was WACK. Period. She only sang the two verses (she had back up audio for the screaming and verses). Her lame ass attempt to imitate Janet’s Rhytm Nation was HILARIOUS. What was also really funny was how everyone stood in dead SILENCE during that crappy little dance break. So funny!

I have to say, I was pretty impressed with the rock bands that performed. They really came with it, especially that group OKGO with the treadmills. Beyonce had me thinking was in the the Rhythm Nation, and her trench coat and spinning and all that was a little drag queen for me. But yeah these awards pretty much sucked, and I don’t think they are going to let people vote in all the categories anymore, cause they just got it all wrong. And I was really mad at the fact that Gnarls Barkley didn’t get nominated more, they were the biggest thing all year!!

I blame the FCC for all the wack-ness.

beyonce perfromance was okay but she bit janet jasckson’s dance so hard that I hated it. I was starting to like her a little bit.( i thought she was being more of her real self). But no. I had more fun watching what was going on backstage than anything. I think the words to that song tells alot about her and jays relationship though.

OH yeah and those pussycat dolls really were unneccesary in the performance and in they speech where they thanked 1 billion people. They must have known that was going to be the only accolade they were going to get for their album.

The VMA’s were very boring to me. I was so excited about the show coming on but was disappointed overall esp. with Jack Black. He is normally very funny. He was saying this year’s show was going to be great with him hosting , but the show was very booty! Yes, indeed!

Now on to my comments. Please bear with me…
1) Beyonce had a good performance. I loved the moves she and her dancers did at the end of the stage. She must not have a backbone because she almost did a backflip. lol! She can probably limbo up some stuff! I also kept thinking Janet when she was performing. I doubt she was paying tribute. I do wish they weren’t dancing in the coats because I couldn’t see all the dance moves. She did look crazy during the performance. Real scary. She was really in character.

2) Only on MTV could some white group from outta no where win best new artist. Never heard of em’. Actually, I’ve never heard of most of those bands…Panic at the Disco, AFI, Fall Out Boys, The Raconteurs???? I guess they are popular to someone. Also, I guess “who can dance” is subjective because Sean Paul’s Temp vid and Chris Brown should have won those best choreography and dance vid awards IMO. I do like Shakira esp. since we share a name although I had it first. lol!

3) I don’t like the Pussycat Dolls. What goofy chicks! Where they booed?? The lead singer is the talent. I guess they know that since she does the duets with everyone and leads all the songs.

4) I almost died laughing at Missy. First, one of the dancer’s hit Missy in the head with the umbrella smashing her hat down over her eyes, then her little toy car quit and Timbaland had to push her off stage, and finally she was temporarily stuck in it. She even said, “Now I can’t get out the car.” Too funny!

5) Lil Kim was out of her element with her talk. I didn’t even know what she was doing at first. Anyway, those white folks didn’t support her while she was in prison. They weren’t “holdin up their lighters” for her. She should make that speech on BET. I did think it was kinda cool that she came out in an orange jumpsuit. She wasn’t hanging all out and I think that was because she’s gained a bit of weight. She’ll be back to her old self soon enough.

7) Kevin and Brittany??? (Brit has done herself in. She could never sing and had to go on looks and sex appeal. Now her antics with Kevin and her son may ruin her career).

The MTV message boards are dissing the awards show. Someone commented that even the entertainers in the audience looked bored. I agree. Anyway, I hope the “big heads” over at MTV are reading the comments.

9) Christina A. should have sung the fast one. Her voice sounded weird on the song she sang. I just read the comments that she was sick so that explains it. I like her clean look.

In my opinion the show sucked!!! To me all Beyonce was doing was Janets’ Rhythm Nation video. I don’t know what Jack Black was doing. I really didn’t care for it at all. If I had to chose who was the best, it would be between Justin/Timberland, and TI. Everything else was wack. I want my old Luda back too.

Beyonce ripping off old Janet Jackson moves did not impress me. No doubt the woman can sing but I just was not impressed at all with her performance. I love her so maybe I expect too much from her.

I love Shakira’s belly dancing! And the song, of course, is hot. Great performance! (I wish I could belly dance like that!)

Lil’ Kim looked great! Better than I’ve seen her look in a long time! Jail definitely did her some good.

I know some people don’t like it, but I’m loving Christina A.’s Marilyn Monroe look. She looks pretty and classy. And I love her with her natural blonde hair. And girl can sing her butt off. Definitely one of the night’s best performances (but then again, I’ve never seen her give a bad performance).

T.I., hands down was the best performance of the night. There’s not much I can say that hasn’t already been said. T.I. consistently shows why he’s the King of the South.

Overall this year’s VMA’s was pretty boring, performances such as T.I.’s, Shakira’s and Christina’s kept me from turning the channel.

Yeah- Best Dance Video and the Hip Hop categories blew me. I wanted Busta for Hip-Hop and Chris Brown, or Temperature for dance video. We all have to keep in mind who MTV’s fanbase is. It was evident when they got to those two categories. Panic on the Disco Floor, Fall Out Boy and AFI are good bands. Nothing wrong with listening to music outside your prefered genre. Pussycat dolls should not have won that category though. They should do a panel and not let people vote in all categories. I just read someone’s post above, Diddy did look disinterested in Lil Kim when she stepped ons tage.

The entrance was cool, the costumes were great and the dancing was about as good as I could expect from B but the the end when she totally ripped off Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation was just ridiculous. It was the Janet routine from the “All For You” concert verbatum only done badly. Shes always ripping off other dancers rather than higher a real choreographer and not her lame cousin.

It pisses me off when the BEP are referred to as not being hip hop. By who’s standards are they not hip hop/rap? Have any of you naysayers ever listened to their music or is it just because Fergie is in the group that they are not hip hop/rap? They rap and hell what rap artist don’t have a r&b artist singing their chorus. Should they dumb themselves down and start calling girls b!@#hes and ho’s, get more rump shaking half naked hoochies in their videos, start wearing grillz and bling? Would they then be considered hip hop? Their music is as much hip hop as anything else you hear on the radio. Just because BET doesn’t support them doesn’t mean that they aren’t hip hop damnit! Common is from my hometown and he was more deserving of the hip hop award but MTV doesn’t recognize the Commons, Talib, and Lupe type of artist, so of course Common wasn’t going to win the award.

Oh and I have to respect Chamillionaire’s hustle. He has been nominated for quite a few awards this year and when he won he didn’t actually make me cringe when he spoke. He was very well spoken and respectful and not on some ego trip. I liked that about him.

And where in the heck is the respect for Young Jeezy!! He is by far the best new rap artist but first BET and now MTV wouldn’t even nominate him for an award. What’s up with that?

I watched only to see the OKGO performance with the treadmills which was well worth sitting through the plethora of crap (not to mentioned postponed my homework, lol). They had the best performance of the night. Yeah, dude was lipsyncing but it was a great performance nonetheless. No scratch that, it was fucking amazing.

Beyonce- YAWN. Not impressed. She’s not my favorite but I’m not gonna sit up here and say she’s not a great performer but her peformance last night was nothing special.

Lil Kim looked FAB but she talked too much.

The MTV Awards are officially pointless. They had the same videos nominated in several different categories that weren’t even great. People who deserve to win never do. I’m probably going to get jumped on for this but…it’s music television.

OVERALL: The stage was hot. The nicest it’s been in years–too bad I can’t say the same for what was ON the stage which was the problem.

My cousin who works in the ndustry and who was at the VMAs said that the Beyonce dance number was tribute to Janet because MTV didn’t want Janet opening the show. In fact, if you notice MTV is not promoting Janet Jackson or her album anymore ever since the Superbowl fiasco. MTV wants janet to apologize for that but she wouldn’t. The Beyonce’s dance number was a middle finger to MTV for what they are doing to Janet and a janet tribute for what she had given us as a artist. Now that I have heard this It makes sense why the dance moves was so blantantly Janet’s. The choreographer was Tina, I believe the same one that did Rhythm Nation. Go head Beyonce!!!

I was thoroughly bored! I kept flipping back and forth from A Different World, so I missed most of it. Jack Black is a little psycho for my taste and most of the performances put me to sleep. MTV needs to do a lot better. The BET awards were 10 times better, even with Damon Waynes hosting them. I just didn’t get what they were trying to do…maybe it’s just me. They should probably try Dave Chappelle or Chris Rock as a host. I also didn’t understand how these songs that just came out are being nominated for an award. The only stand out performances was T.I. and the Hype Williams tribute. Other than that it sucked!

In response to the Beyonce’s performance, I just heard on the radio that on her all eyes on Beyonce interview, she said it was going to be a tribute to Janet, but I guess MTV doesn’t like to hear Janet’s name come out of anyone’s mouth, so they cut it out. While I still don’t really care for the performance, this make more sense of why she did it. MTV is really blackballing Janet and that ain’t right! They didn’t even show her videos with Hype Williams, and in one of the nomination blurbs where they put all the artists that had won the award, they cut her out too. MTV really needs to get over themselves.

The best performance last night was the band on the treadmills. They were ridin out on those things. It was ORIGINAL! Beyonce did good like she always does, but I don’t think it was original. Jack Black was whack! No one will ever top Jamie Foxx’s Opening at the 2001 VMA’s. That was crazy! Holla!

*BEYONCE was Beyonce as usual, with a mix of Janet at the end of the performance.

*Although CHRISTINA’s an excellent singer, I think that she should’ve sang a more uptempo song.

I appreciate that she wanted to add a nice change– because she probably figured that everybody else was going to do the big productions, with the 15 dancers, and special effects going on behind them–but, her performance was too late in the show.

So by the time they finally got around to her set, I’m sure that most of the people there were probably half asleep–I know I was.

*JUSTIN didn’t offer up anything that he hadn’t done before, but even so, it still started off the show on a good note.

*The Hype Williams tribute was pretty good. I liked how they set it up. And I liked Kanye’s intro to the tribute.

Justin Timberlake - for some reason i thought JT’s performance would be the highlight of the night but it wasn’t - i didn’t like anything about his time spent on stage but the 2 songs.

Beyonce - Her performance was cool. I know that’s the breakdown from the tour but it was still hot.

Lil Kim - She looks good but “SEXYBACK” was getting on my last nerve.

Luda - I’m a Luda fan but that was the first time i heard the song from start to finish. And Nicole from PCD did not want to let go of the Moonman

Shakira - Cool, Xtina - Classy and T.I. - I love his pose at the end w/KING in the background.

Christina Aguilera - I didn’t even realize she was sick. Homegirl can blow and has real talent.

Also, as far as I know the VIDEO awards are awarded on the basis of best VIDEO.

The reason why practically NO hip-hop videos won was because they aren’t original. They all have the same look: money wasted (i.e. jewelry and grillz), expensive rented cars, naked hoes shaking their a$$es…It’s been watered down and fed to the hip hop community as the only acceptable way to make a video.

The people who try to switch it up and try something different don’t get any love (i.e. Common).

So if MTV is actually going on the basis of the best MUSIC VIDEO, then I can totally see why you didn’t see 50, Luda, and the rest of them taking home VMA’s. So I’m not even mad at MTV for that.

The VMA’s were simply an wake up call that Hip Hop needs to step their delivery game up…

So the VMA’s sucked a big one this year but it had it moments. I wish they would have let the hype williams tribute go on a little longer. Beyonce was ok, but to be a janet knock off is not hot. Justin, All American Rejects, and TI had the best perfomances. JAck black was ok but MTV was the big problem.

The only thing that i liked about the whole entire show was Beyounces performance,although i did feel as if the ending could have been a lot better then what she did. It left me just sitting there like okay, thats it. She should have done something better then standing on a lifting part of the stage there wasn’t even any sparks or anything fancy. And it kinda upset me because i love beyounce. She is my favorite.

Beyonce - hands down her, beyonce was the best of the night . i mean her vocals were on fire(which was live, except for the chorous,which typical of artist to use back up track or back up singers for chorouses or ad-libs), especially when belted out the last note b4 the dance break down,while looking mighty fine doing it.as for the dance sequences, i don’t why folks r so quick make comparisms to janet, i mean janet didn’t invent or copright those dance moves, plus those dance routine had already been down by beyonce male dancers on the DF DVD. if anything she excuted it those moves with ease.plus maybe she was paying a tribute to janet, since mtv is dissing janet. at least she’s switching up her style, and not doing the usual booty shaking routines,

ludcris - luda was alright, his performance seem kinda watered down, wasn’t agressive or hype as old luda.plus what was the point of pussy cta dolls joinning the performance at the end?

TI- definately entertainning and energetic

christina aguilera - her performance was alright, though her energy level was kinda low ,but at least she wasn’t oversinging the song, but i think it’s time christina switches up her style,coz this whole 40s look is gettin’ tired. overall she was 1 of the best vocals of the night.

shakira - she was definately entertainning, but came up short with her vocals. she and clef got good chemistry.

hype williams tribute - enjoy the tribute,definately overdue. the highlight part of it, was when missy got stuck in the jeep.HAHAHHAHA. someone should have told her about the limits.hahahaha.

Beyonce lip-synched all over that song! It was awful. I think people just say she’s good b/c she’s Beyonce. She usually does give good performances, but not this one. Christina had a cold and still rocked it. I’m not the biggest fan of her look either, but she’s committed to it. And that CD is awesome.
