We all would be idiotic if we didn’t think that pictures could be altered, airbrushed, etc. However, live appearances can’t be airbrushed. Janet’s live apprearance on this year’s BET awards wasn’t airbrushed, it was her in the flesh looking as good as she ever did. She graced the stage to join a group of people she worked with as a little girl, cute then too I will say. Let’s face it, at 40 the lady still looks just as good as the young starlets bragged about today. Large or small, she is a pretty lady that’s that. As for her legend status, that had nothing to do with her famous brothers. She may have followed in their famous footsteps, But the Jackson name did not automatically equal success, if that were the case, all of the Jackson siblings would be equally successful and we know that’s not so. Her legendary career is what she crafted it to be. Since Beyonce was mentioned, let’s speak on her for a minute or two. It would come as no surprise if she becomes a legend provided the way she was able pick and choose from the silver platter she received. Let’s face it, we all know the Jacksons’ story, they had a very humble beginning. Beyonce, on the other hand, came from a middle family. Matthew had a career making 6 figures a year and living nicely during Bey’s start in the group. Joe Jackson had nothing, coming from a steel mill, living in a 2-bedroom house with seven children. You tell me who had it easier? The Jackson story has several scars in it. The Knowles story is a cinderella story in comparison. And we won’t even get into how the the other girls in the group were used as pons to get Bey where she is today. Their shoulders were definitely used as her ladder no doubt about it. Today, it would foolish to view Janet as the same person as during the Control and Rhythm Nation years, as we get older we learn new things and manifest in what we say and do. That’s life. Bottom line, Janet created her own LEGEND status, not the Jacksons.

So I guess the other Jacksons who you mentioned were not as successful- were used as Janets Pawns for her success? Regardless of your your financial background, becoming a legend is something that you do have to do on your own. When your brothers are the Jackson Five it is easy to get out there. A six figure income isnt that much money and knowing people at labels is easier then having money. Look at Ashley Simpson , Brittany’s lil sis, they all got in the game after their siblings as well as hundreds I can list, its about who you know. Having a little money helps but networking is everything. There are plenty of people in the game with rags to riches stories Half the rappers out talk about how they came up AND lots of them got put on by someone they KNEW in the game.

I agree Janet worked hard to get where she was, but she has a family of legends. I dont view Janet as the same person as those years and dont want her to be, I am referring to the QUALITY of the music. She used to change the game, now she is just blending in. Thats my opinion, sorry if you diagree. I like her music and have lots of her older albums, Im just not feeling all the hype (publicity) especially with her weight, and her age 40 isnt old, you should still look decent at 40. I wanna hear the album ans see if its worth all the weight.

I’m the same age as Janet, and i do like her since someone gave me the “control” album as a present.

With her money she should look fab, i can honestly say that my body have some rolls. But my face looks pretty good. But you can be sure that if i had the money my body would be tight to. So i can’t give her props for that.

And for anybody who thinks that how she is looking [face/body]it’s all natural…well that’s a little naive.

i think the pic is maybe somewhat airbrushed. the abs are defintely not airbrushed. i dont think it sexy for a girl to have a six pack. i think six packs have a manly look to them and are for men only. women should have flat stomach thats about it. i mean some defintion is good but i think janet has too much of it and it doesnt look feminine at all.

I agree with you CJ the airbrushing is a bit much !because although janet looks good, she doesn’t match the professional pictures she has been in lately. So when you actually see her w/o airbrushing she looks old. If you don’t believe me compare this shot to the Vid with Nelly her face doesn’t look bad but it sure as hell don’t look like this picture.

Janet’s very first two albums (no, not Control and Rhythm Nation) failed. Most people dont even know they exist to this day. So no, being famous by default did not help her all that much.
