I used to LOVE Janet, especially in her Rhythm Nation days. I think part of the problem is that her music hasn’t fully matured with her age. That is what makes him overrated. Its perfectly fine to have producers that make your shit sound good. Janet has never let Jimmy and Terry go, but at the same time people give Justin way to much artistic merit. He relys on good production the same way Cassie does. He’s no different. All the preliminary reviews of the album are pretty good, but the one critique I have heard often is that its missing the “pharrell touch”.

I’ve heard the whole album its alot different than his last album. I’m not sure if i like it or not. it probably has to grow on me..the one thing i know from futuresex/lovesounds is that he can sing.

My point is “why do people on here think that Justin who was on the stage with her could get her out of trouble, he couldn’t even keep the GRAMMYs from making it a requirement that HE apologize in order to attend and participate. Can you see where I’m going? Do you all really think that there was anything that he could have said that would have made people go, oh yeah, dawg you right, let’s just let it go. If you and your partner staged a murder, do you think you could be any type of credible character witness for your boy that actually pulled the trigger? I mean, am I turning on your lightbulbs at all. Second, if both Justin and Janet were offered the same deal, apologize and give an interview to really show your remorse, how can MTV or the GRAMMYS be unfair. So, making this racial and blaming Justin for apologizing when Janet would not apologize is really just an easy way for us to serve our desire of saying “only black people” should be allowed to be supported in the R&B community. As Black people what we should be saying to Janet is that as an MTV icon and a Black legend, we expected more of you than what you displayed with Operation Titty Drop. And your selfish pride and continual unwillingness to demonstrate true remorse by making amends as asked, does not represent us well. I own all of Janet’s past albums because she used to represent class, now she always half-naked and CHOOSING to talk about sex in order to keep the public’s interest. Is that the behavior that you would attribute to an ICON. Somebody in our community needs to make Janet step up here.

Anyhoo, I don’t really see anyone on here saying that JJ wasn’t stupid for what she did. During the performance AND after the performance, I felt she could’ve handled herself better. It was a stunt, not a mistake, and the backlash she got was what happens when you do something stupid. Hell, I agree with other folks when they say that her single is doing poorly cuz it sucks. Chuck D lost his right to say anything concerning blacks in media when he let “foofy foof” shit all over Public Enemy’s legacy. Talk about someone who should have “manned-up”. My final opinion about this is that it wouldn’t be about race (at least for me) if his “apology” or explanation didn’t seem so calculated. I mean, Janet has been trying to get over this for the longest, so why did he even feel the need to talk about it? People are trying to move on, but Timberlake and MTV keep this going, and at whose expense?
