I’m extremely excited about this movie. When I heard all the people in it, I knew it was a must see. Sucks that it opens way next year. I guess i’ll just catch ‘ De Ja Vu ‘ in the meantime.

Oh yes. This is a definite must see. I love Denzeil! He is such a great actor. Can anyone explain why he won an Oscar for his role in Training Day but only got nominated for an Academy Award for his role in Malcom X? I think that’s kind of backwards. But like I said this is a definite must see movie.

Another Gangsta/drug lord/violence themed movie for Black Americans to look up to. Before you know it, we will start to see Black men on Cribs with pictures of Frank Lewis up on the walls of their homes.

As much as I love Denzel, Ruby Dee, and Common, I have tired of the Gangsta theme and am not sure if I will see this film.

Looks interesting but…I’m just not too fond of having T.I. in this movie. Even Common, although I do like him. Becuse honestly…I dont want to see anymore of these rapper “actors” in film. I cant see past their persona’s and into the characters. (They usually almost never play anything far from home anyway). Trained performers are losing jobs — that were made for them — to non-actors.

I guess I shouldnt judge a book by its cover but…meh.

@ 38 No beef but why should artists be limited to just one form of art. Some people are born entertainers and should be able to try their hand at anything they want to. Especially since the music industry is all about raping their artists and taking their money. I know I’d cross over into movies in a heartbeat.

#38- I agree with you. Rapper/actors are creating a stereotypical image that gives Hollywood and the core audience the impression that there are no true talented black actors in Hollywood. I’m a little sick of seeing rappers starring in movies. I understand that Hollywood thinks rappers hold some kind of credibilty to the character they’re playing and that alone will sell out seats in the theater. But what about Menace II Society and The Best Man. Two totally different movies but the leading actors were not rappers. Even the leading actors on The Wire were actually real actors. So the talent is out there.

T.I. is doing big things! And she is still FINE while doing it big! Lol Even with that out dated suit he wearing.

First of all..I would go see and suppoet any movie Denzel Washington is starring in. American Gangster is just one in a long line of projects that he has done to perfection. Mr. Washington keep up the great work, you get more handsome and sexy for the ladies to enjoy each time I see you. Can’t wait to see this one as well.

Do we need another gangster movie with a smattering of untalented hip-hop actors? Since Denzel has decided that he is in need of money?? and appears to have lost his ethics and character, we cannot be surprised at this choice of property for him. We should also consider that BET does not believe in providing black audiences with substantive films, why not give them a gangster hero drug dealer? Where are the Anthony Mackies, Eammon Walkers, Adrian Lesters? These are film and stage actors with fine credentials who could have acted in this film. Does Denzel use black actresses as his leading ladies anymore?

I hope that black women will ignore this film.

I am so tired of people saying that Denzel will only get an oscar if he is dirty. Damn the man did a great job in Training day and he deserved it. if he didn’t win it everybody would have been upset. he won get over it. he was great in Malcome X but didn’t quite capture him, oh well. and as for Angela Basset i love her to death and if you were a real movie watcher you would realize she did not deserve that oscar as Tina turner. She worked her ass off dont get me wrong but when you watched that movie you saw Angela, not Tina. Her not actually singing her songs hurt her too.
