DJ S&S compares Black-Ty’s desire to excel to previous rap rookies turned fixtures Jay-Z and DMX.

Looks like the Black Ty Street team is out in full effect. Stick to stapling his poster on trees and stay off the internet. You sound like one ignorant ass.

My question # 91 (Black-Ty) is when are you gonna answer the questions posted? Don’t keep people waiting too long. We keeps it moving on here…

I decided not to download the music but I read all the comments. The fact that a lot of folks said he was using the N word every other second is enough for me not to bother. But overall everyone made some good points and I have to say that whether or not I like the music (after hearing it), I give Tyrese props for stepping out there. No, you shouldn’t limit yourself to one craft but everything ain’t for evrybody. And if this is truly your passion like you’ve said then stick with it. We need more brothers to get out there and show the world that you are more than a six pack and chocolate skin. Do your thang but stay true to yourself first and foremost. Once you’ve done that, it will come through in the music; be it rap, R&B or whatever.

  4. IMAGINE THAT! BLACK-TY got mad skillz. I was definately feeling him as a R&B singer…but I must say that he’s FIYAH as a RAP artist. When I first heard his mixed cd..I couldn’t believe my ears. His flow is definately one to be reckoned with. I am definately feeling “Give it to me girl” “Capricorn” “Get Cake” and the “Chain Game”. Question for Black-Ty….CAN YOU KEEP A SECRET??? And oh yea….LEO’S are definately the freakiest!!!! Keep doing what cha do! I’m definately looking forward to your double cd.

  5. CHOKS

I was also VERY skeptical. I love you as a singer and I was afraid you were going to play yourself trying to break into the rap game. I was wrong. You did your thing, you should be proud.

  6. @117, I wish I had a Bently! LOL

  7. mmckay

Hated it! Is this a joke. I listeded to the single, and, frankly, it’s embarassing for Ty. He heed not EVA get ona nother song w/ Jay. ” I stay PRAYED UP”!?!?! WACK.

  8. James

you should be called WACK-TY instead… like JESSICA #120 said, don’t use “Black” you’re a disgrace… like “???” and “sizzle” said, nothing ground breaking and original… like like “chillin in ny” said, the street team needs to go back into hiding from the internet cuz it is not a good look…another brother quick to shuck and jive for a little more few bucks… just because your latest albums didn’t sell dont mean you had to sell your ass to the industry… you’re a puppet part of a cirus…is the nigga mentality all rap music supposed to be about?

  9. luisa_2

    nice…. i’m so surprised!

  10. There seems to be some HATERS in the house.

    Mystery Woman

  11. Everyone already knows how talented he is as an actor and as a singer. He is also extremely sexy. I saw him in concert at the essence festival in New Orleans summer of 2000. I love Tyrese and wanted to stay for the second performance but my cousin wanted to see Maze and I had to leave. But moving on to my critique of his rap, I love what he has to say in his raps, they are completely original and from the heart. Not many rap artists are willing to open and reveal themselves in such a genuine way. Tyrese’s music has always been such a humble experience to witness and his raps give you an extra peek into his personality. I absolutely LOVE how he puts his rhymes together. His voice is also really nice but it reminds me a little of 50 cent. The production has a 90 sound to it and kinda reminds me of listening to Tupac’s Strictly for me Niggaz. The beats sound the same throughout the cd but if he is wanting info only on his rapping skills it think it is a great introduction to what he will be offering after a little more polishing.

  12. SON

I hope one day you’ll see the light you must be lost and confused. Questions :

    > Are you serious?
    > Is your mother proud to hear her son sound illiterate and uneducated?
    > Is someone paying you $100 each time you say the word “NIGGA” the reason you say it so often?
    > Why waste time and money making a rap album if you’re not going to raise the bar after so many years of careers? Can’t you do like Usher and Monica and do the rap parts of your R&B joints?
    > Are you serious?

  13. Tia

I was hesitant at first. Downloaded it last week and just really sat down to listen to it now. It’s a nice change…not the typical shake your ass, show your titties, let’s F* type of ish. Beat the System got me, I’m feelin’ it.

  14. Oh Lawd

THE THING ABOUT THIS IS THAT TYRESE DIDN’T WRITE HIS RAPS…OTHER PEOPLE IS WRITING HIS STUFF AND COACHING HIM. HE’S EVEN GETTING SUED FOR STEALING A SONG, I KNOW THIS BECAUSE MY HOMEGIRL USE TO WORK AT THE EDMONDS TOWER WHERE TYRESE BE AT AND THERE WAS A HUGE FIGHT WITH SOME DUDES TRYING TO BEAT UP TYRESE FOR STEALING THEIR SONG AND LEAKING IT WITHOUT EVEN HAVING A CONTRACT OR ANYTHING…(I GUESS THE PRODUCER DIDN’T EVEN LET TYRESE USE THE SONG, HE GAVE IT TO THESE OTHER GUYS)..SOO ON THE REAL THIS IS ANOTHER FAKE ASS RAPPER…..WHAT HE IS RAPPING AIN’T EVEN HIM….

  15. produce kid!!

YOU CAN’T BE SERIOUS… I AM A PRODUCER THAT WORK WITH METHOD MAN AND I CAN’T EVEN FRONT I HEARD HIS SHIT A WHILE BACK AND I SWARE I THROUGH THE SAME THING CAUSE HIS PEN IS TOO NICE FOR A NIGGA THAT I NEVER HEARD RHYME… BUT MY BROTHER FROM ANOTHER MOTHER… YOU GOT IT ALL WRONG AND ITS FUNNY!! CAUSE NIGGAS WILL READ WHAT YOU WROTE AND BELIEVE YOUR DUMB ASS..!!! HA HA! LOOK HERE PIMP THE TRUTH AND I’M IN THE INDUSTRY STRAIT UP… REAL NIGGAS IN THE STREET AND INDUSTRY NIGGAS AND THE ARTIST THAT BLACK TY HAS WORKED WITH SAY THAT THEY NEEDED TO STEP THEIR PEN GAME UP AROUND THIS NIGGA AND STEP THEIR SWAGGER UP CAUSE THIS NIGGA DO 16 BARS IN ONE PASS AND I HEAR MOST OF THE COLABORATIONS ON HIS ALBUM ARE SOME OF THE BEST VERSES YOU EVER HEARD FROM THESE MC’S CAUSE THAT NIGGA MADE EM STEP UP CAUSE HE WAS THE TRUTH.. I’M ONE OF THE PRODUCERS ON HIS ALBUM (HOPEFULLY) I WORKED WITH THE NIGGA HIS PEN GAME IS SERIOUS… (THATS THE TRUTH) I JUST GOT ON HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE MIXTAPE BUT I COULDN’T HELP BUT RESPOND TO YOUR BULLSHIT YOU POSTIN.. 16. Funny

I’M ONE OF THE PRODUCERS ON HIS ALBUM (HOPEFULLY) I WORKED WITH THE NIGGA HIS PEN GAME IS SERIOUS… (THATS THE TRUTH) I JUST GOT ON HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE MIXTAPE

@135 so you’re one of the producers who worked with him but you need to go on the internet and download the mixtape of the artist you worked with to hear it? no exclusive first listen for his music team before everyone else? mmmkay

  17. Jessica

    @135
Does sayin the word “nigga” every three seconds make you a BIG man???? You another ignorant brotha who I look down on. And it’s obvious you would be producing for Tyrese cause you both make nothing but garbage rap music.

  18. James

    135 said : YOU CAN’T BE SERIOUS…

i’m assuming you were watching yourself in the mirror saying this, cuz you can’t be serious. and i’ma need for you and tyrese to get a dictionary and learn more words than nigga(s).

Give you a little sothern hospitality!! tootles!! Dimples aka Boss Bitch!

  22. CYNTHIA

I liked the concept of the mix-tape. I don’t care for ‘nigga’ being used so often. Mainly its is not a hood term of endearment anymore. Now white kids really want to use that word, cause it is in our music. I like Tyrese vocals and rappin, but he should mix it up a little bit. Try not to focus on the negative. Tyrese is a very popular dude. I know you want others to understand more about you, but can you use something a little more positive. If you want people to take you seriously, don’t just focus on a certain group. There are a lot more fans out there that would like to have a wider selection of music. I personally am getting tired of the cars, jewelry, homes and hoes. Especially when most of us have to work from check to check to make ends meet. All of us can’t afford the ‘rich look’. So give us something we all can relate to. You are a black male in the entertainment industry. You already have your ‘foot in the door’. Give us something that may help up to get ours in the door.

  23. nicegirl

Can we get Tyrese’s online web marketing street team off of here so we can see the real comments, good and bad. Ya’ll are getting sloppy too.

MOVEMENT… 308 and YEP!!! 329 have the same exact comments under 2 different names. Come on now!

Will download now and comment later on the mixtape.

  24. @ NICE GIRL #143, that’s what I thought too lol.

  25. Mark (South Side Chi)

Nigga this shit is tight, decent, its a good start nigga, u better than 90% of niggas out the south nigga. ur rhymes will def improve nigga, forget these other fake ass uncle tom niggas here claming u say nigga too much when every other nigga use the word nigga. nigga been used in almost every rap song, so don’t sweat it nigga. I say fuck these niggas if they trying tto stop a nigga grind. aight stay focused nigga !

  26. sexy dimples

i am really feeling this mixtape. didn’t think i would but i’d bump this in the car. dimples53209@myspace.com

  27. i liked it – damn near the whole mixtape was bangin’– good job tyrese-oops my bad… black ty

  28. Puddin_G

The mixtape was hot!..It was way better than I first expected. I think that Black-Ty will have big success with his rap album. My questions for Tyrese are…

Do you think that you would win in a rap battle against one of today’s hottest rappers?

Who would you battle and why?

  29. Morgana

Downloaded the album, and it was ok, but I was disappointed. I know everyone can’t be a concious rapper, but how many times are rappers going to talk about what they have, how many girls they have, etc? I liked this mixtape most when Black-Ty talked about his own life, what he went through growing up. It was still hardcore, but it was different. Love his singing, so most of my favorites had him singing somewhere in the song. My favorite tracks on the mixtape were:

    *Haters
    *Storm
    *Change The World
    *Why
    *Don’t Get Me Confused
*Here I Go (like the Mystikal impression)
    *Beat The System

    My questions for Black-Ty are:

1.) What do you want to achieve as a rap artist? Are you trying to be considered one of the greatest, or are you trying to put it out there for you?

2)Why should I go out and support your album. What is it that REALLY sets you apart from other rap artists in the game right now?

But I must give props for him stepping out and doing this. I know it’s got to be hard, because you know it’s gonna be difficult for people to take you out of the box they put you in. It was hard for me, but I wish him best of luck, can’t really knock anybody’s hustle.

  30. BeRight

Why so negative? It sounds like BlackTy is waiting for other folks to take aim at him so he can have an excuse to blast back on wax and in the street. I had respect for Tyreese as an actor and singer, but I can’t figure out if he’s acting on audio like in the movies or is this street and braggart image the real Tyreese. I like the flow, sounds a lil’ like Pac, but I wish it was more positive. That would be original and refreshing. Everyone is talking about money, hoes, guns, and being the man. That is not progressive.

  31. Afro

Hey Tyrese! I’m a HUGE fan of your singing, but I gotta admit….I like the mixtape! I was pleasantly surprised to see how talented you are as a rapper — your flow is SICK! Wow. Acting, singing, rapping, boy you just won’t stop. My favorite track is “Give It To Me Girl”, it’s very catchy. My only question is — will you be focusing more on singing or rapping now? In other words, if you were to release another album in the future, would it be rap or singing? Because I believe you’ll have to choose one eventually. But whatever one you choose, you have my support! Youre very talented at both.

  32. nonya

Not really feeling it, Tyrese should stick to R&B, all he did throughout was say NIGGA kinda turned me off. Not very original.

  33. tytodasound

I didn’t get a chance to listen to the complete mix before it was taken off line. However I did get to hear one song “Get it in” It sounds pretty good but I think the one thing that concerns me is that since I have been a fan I have enjoyed your singing style. Your R&B seems really sincere and speaks of love on different levels. Also a favortie of mine is that in basically all your videos the girl is a black women (which most black males as artists don’t have in their video to often these days) and it bothers me to think that with your hip hop style coming out your image will change to what is popular now, which seems to be a woman of any race except black dancing half dressed topped off with disrespectful lyrics. I think that you are a true artist with a unique gift and although I know I will be a fan and support you with your cd, i guess the question is how far away is Black Ty from the Tyrese that I have grown to respect and admire as a fan?

  34. tytodasound

I posted my comment before I read the others, and I was surprised to see that I was not alone with the fear that you may change to do rap just like all the others. I know that to you the few post on here that are close to opinion in mine are very few compared to those that want you to stick to the rap style and for that reason it may not matter to you as much. But I hope it stills means something to you that as your fans we care what happens to your dreams. So please don’t go and become really disrespectful, it seems thats all every black male does in the rap industry and you seem better than that.
