The full-length LP, “The Makings of Me” from Monica leaked about a day ago. I really like the new album, even though, much like “B’Day,” it only has 10 songs. But each track, I’m digging. I LOVE this song. It displays Monica’s voice and Swizz Beatz’s versatility as a producer. I also haven’t heard him rap in a long time. I’m really digging this song from Monica. The album is sick, I will definitely be supporting her on Tuesday.

I’m digging the production on this, I think Fantasia is stepping her game up on this new album. But with pipes like that, how could she not? I’m really digging this song from Fantasia, I like it a lot more than that “Hood Boi” track that’s supposedly slated to be the next single. I’m sure that her album will do well. And I think she transitioned smoothly from “American Idol Winner” to actual recording artist, whereas others didn’t make the transition so well.
Omarion feat. Pharrell – Obsession (full) – download
Looks like for Omarion’s new album, he’s hooked up with The Neptunes again, which was probably a good look, considering that “Touch” was such a huge hit one his last album. This song is a pretty good Neptunes jam. Omarion, again, with the nasal voice, but like I said, I’m still kind of digging his new material. You can hear Pharrell’s voice all over the chorus. I wish him look on this new album.
Shanice – So Sexy (full) – download
“So Sexy” is our girl Shanice’s new single from her latest album, “Every Woman Dreams.” The beat to this song is really sick, but doesn’t really show off Shanice’s vocal ability. But it’s a club song, so I understand. I sort of get a little Neptunes/Lil’ Jon vibe from it. I’m interested to know who produced this. It sort of reminds me of something one Janet’s “20 Y.O.” album as well, because of the vocal delivery.

monica song is avg, let me hear something that matches “aint gonna cry no more”, “so gone” or “dont gotta go home” and i’ll give it to up to her. Shanice track is crazy generic .. please don’t let me hear that familiar chord progression with the same “kick .. kicksnare .. ki, kick .. snare” pattern again and call the song “So Sexy”, a classic example of whats wrong with music, not rnb or hiphop, MUSIC in general. Peep Chingy’s album for a further example. I haven’t heard an album so generic in years.
Props to producers such as Polow, Timbaland and Will.I.AM for pushing the envelope at the mo. A bunch of others i wont mention but these replicate mahfuckas really need to step their shit up.
Yet to hear a great single from Fantasia and the Omarion joint gave me hell trying to load. I’m sure its the best out of the 4 without hearing it.
