THE WIRE IS BACK FOR SEASON 4!
Friday, September 8, 2006
The critically acclaimed HBO series ‘The Wire’ is back for another great season. I personally believe this is one of the best shows (if not the best) on TV right now. So if you aren’t familar with it, you better catch up! The Season 3 recap is located above.
The fourth season of “The Wire” will expand its focus to include a look at the role of the educational system in an urban environment. Should get a good one. Make sure you check it out on Sunday, September 10th @ 9pm!! Those viewers who have HBO on demand can actually catch the premiere right now.
Also, The Wire Spoken Word Battle is on and they need your help to spread the word. HBO’s original series, THE WIRE and Blastro.com are challenging users to “Tell Us How You Were Educated” in an original spoken word piece. Contestants should visit http://www.blastro.com/spokenwordbattle to fill out an entry form and upload their video. The site hosts a video introduction from Sonja Sohn, member of the slam poetry community and the cast of THE WIRE. 5 finalists will be chosen in September and Blastro users will be able to vote for their favorite - the winning video could end up on HBO On Demand.
Shout out to Rob Krauser of Deep Focus for the clips and poetry info!!
Premiere pics after the jump!
Method Man (aka Cheese) | Andre Roya (aka Bubbles)
J.D. Williams (aka Bodie) | Julito McCullum (new cast member)
Michael K. Williams (aka OMAR) | Clarke Peters (aka Det. Lester Freamon ) | Sonja Sohn (aka Det. Kima Greggs)
Jamie Hector (aka MARLO) | Lance Reddick aka (Lt. Cedric Daniels)
Ed Burns (producer) | Spike Lee & Tonya Lee | Andre Royo & Spike
I guess Idris Elba didn’t attend the premiere. I’m going to miss Stringer Bell this season.

I hate to sound like an uppity negress, but there’s always a white man behind our “urban dramas”. Anyways, I love The Wire. Bubs cracks me up with his “Whitey Sale” Lol. Kima looks like she gets “toastee” or is it that her eyes are just asian inspired?

I saw my pastor on the previews for the Wire. I think I may start watching it.. It seems like an interesting show. It would be neat if they had real Baltimoreans in it, because they have really weird accents. I love to hear them when they say dug (dog).

adorkable,
**raises hand** I felt the same way particularly about Boys of Baraka, also shot in Bmore. Where boys are taken to Kenya, in a structured school envoirnment. And behind that whole initiative was a white institution. So I kind of feel you on the uppity negress part.
But the other part of me (the me that lives 35 minutes outside of West Baltimore-the same me that bought in that area) don’t see any of the black middle class folk. I think think some of the blame goes back to us on basic levels. Forget about the telling of our stories, what about the basics of re-building. “Gentrifying” and “Beautifying” our own stuff for US.

Look at “Bubbles” lookin’ all fly! And “Omar” cleans up very nicely. Congrats to The Wire for getting another season. I know they won’t disappoint! And now, A moment of silence for Stringer Bell (quite possibly the best panty droppa on TV ever!)…..

^ The Wire is on a whole nother level than Paid in full but there are some similrities with The Corner (which came after). And, The Wire holds Nothing back. I mean Nothing.

I am very excited that The Wire will be in full EFFECT on Sunday!!! I am one of the many #1 fans, I just got my “Free Wee-Bey” shirt’s finished on Tuesday. I watched the previews on HBO in reference to the upcoming season and the new generation are quite interesting. All of them are very driven in the directions that their charachters take and Wee-Bey’s son is one to look out for….Peace

Big fan of The Wire. I just started watching this year, Season 4, and it’s intense. The best scenes are with Bodie, because I want to root for Bodie, but then I am rooting for the underdog drug dealer, so the confusion is messing with my head. Is it okay to root for the drug dealer?
