What in the hell picture of Garcelle are you looking at because that outfit is a nightmare. High-wasted skirts only really work on women with longer torsos. Her breasts are practically resting on the belt making her look shorter and wider than she actually is. Those ballon skirts were constructed with the intention of making more hips for women lacking in that area. If you already have them is just makes you look big. Also, short skirts paired with short shirts only make it look like your clothes don’t fit properly. Then to top it off with such a sexy evening style shoe totally makes the outfit look mis-matched. When a more mature women hits up too many youthful trends at once it only makes you look matronly. Her style should be more clearly defined at this point in her career with a trend or two thrown in it to show shes paying attention. Just because its currently in fashion doesn’t automatically mean its going to work on everyone or look chic.

That’s a damn miss and a damn shame.

Garcelle looks like my Grandma in that get up…and the outfit does absolutely nothing for her lovely figure. Seperately, the pieces aren’t too bad. I would have paired the high waisted balloon skirt with a cute tank or a spandex shirt with either no sleeves or 1 sleeve w/same shoes + jewelry she has on. I would have paired the leopard print shirt with a pair of figure-fitting black jeans with a fly fancy gold belt hanging loosely in the middle, same shoes and jewelry.

I don’t think it’s about high fashion playing a part here, that first outfit is just wrong. Maybe it’s just her. *shrugs* I truly admire and understand ‘high’ fashion but it doesn’t look good on everyone.

I understand Joy’s look as high fashion but she completed it with the wrong shoes from color to style to texture.

Sorry, but although Garcelle is wearing all the Fall looks they don’t look right on her body. People have to learn that it’s great to look “of the moment” but you have to make sure that you choose the looks that flatter your size, body and personality. MISS.

StyleIcon is absolutely right. Garcelle looks horrible. The belt, the top (oh, the horror) and that God forsaken shapeless skirt looks like something a first round Project Runway dismissee would have put together “because they lost their inspiration.” She looks like every hot MILF my mom ever had who was fine enough to look at, but yet and still from a different generation. I’m not a fan of Garcelle in general (she’s ok, but not superfine) but I do agree that almost everytime I’ve seen her, she’s looked better than that.

On the other hand, unless you REALLY took a close hard look and were specifically rating folks based on style sense, Joy’s picture brings out her face and that smile more than anything. I think her picture is a testament to the fact that while the outfit does not work, people who are fine and who have a great shape can wear almost anything and kinda make it work. (IMO).
