THROW SOME D’S
Sunday, September 24, 2006

Rich Boy comes straight out of Mobile, Alabama, and has hooked up with producer Polow Da Don to create this year’s ending anthem, “Throw Some D’s” (which I have recently fallen in love with - the beat is so hot, ha). With a new video shot (which features cameos from Polow and Keri Hilson), Rich Boy’s new single has already started heating up in Atlanta and Alabama markets and is soon to catch on like wildfire. Check out this Interscope artist on MySpace for more music, and for more information and updates on Rich Boy, visit richboyonline.com.

Was your little blurb about this being the year ending anthem a joke? It was a joke right? This song is nothing special but to each his own. I guess if we can twist our wrists to “Its goin down” and break our hips tryna “walk it out” we can throw some D’s on that bitch. Lord knows theres gonna be a dance to accompany this latest piece of southern trash.

“Throw some D’s” stands for DUBS down here in the south…the song is definitely heating up the airwaves down here (I’ve heard it here in Florida and in Atl a lot lately)…I agree that the whole “rims and ho’s” theme is played out in the industry, however Rich Boy’s style of flow is very unique and different from most other rappers out today. Maybe I’m a bit biased being that I am FROM Mobile and the hood he represents. He definitely isnt Tupac (wth was THAT comment about??), but its definitely NOT “southern trash”. Plus, the beat is BANGIN!!

I think region more than age determines accepting this song or not.
Most people that ARE NOT from here aren’t used to the flow style or arrangements. I listen to that ..NOT the content because if I did that then I’d hate every damn thing on the radio, [rapwise].

Wincestlamb,
I was thinking that maybe this would appeal more to a younger audience. And you’re definately right about the region thing. I think it’s a combo of both.
I’m 26 and was born & raised in the south (ATL) - this song just doesn’t do it for me.

Rich Boy is definitely making a name for himself in the industry. Doing songs with Ludacris, Pitbull, Lil Wayne, Mannie Fresh, Timbaland, and the list goes on….hate it or love it, you gonna be hearing from this kid without a doubt. If you dont like THAT song, he’s on the “Chain hang low remix”, “Get to poppin” ft Pitbull, “D-Boy” ft Mannie Fresh, and featured on Ludacris’ new album….the kid is blowin up!

People up north are always talking shit about another regions’ music when in all honesty the north hasn’t been hot musically since the mid 90’s.STFU with that whining and complaining because you all (Northen people) don’t support your own artists.WTF would a person produce some shit that doesn’t have a market? People up North kill me with this ‘the South killed hip-hop’ bullshit.Hip-hop hasn’t been the same since Puffy had the Lox in shiny suits.A lot of East Coast rappers are trying to sound country or do a collabo with somebody from the Dirty. Why?? Because that’s what the consumer wants right now.I mean relax, you all might get the crown back one day when you find some quality rappers under 35 and stop being so damn sensitive.BTW,Jada and Fat Joe on that Paris Hilton song…That’s so artistic and not at all about a paycheck.LMAO.

#36 down south rappers can’t fuck with up top niggas so stfu. They’re garbage just like I said. Just because the consumers wanna hear that shit doesn’t make it hot. Let me tell you, the Lox in shiny suits would murder any southern rapper on any day when it comes to lyrics. The only rappers from the south I fuck with are T.I., Jeezy, Lil Wayne, and Luda. Let me know if I’m missing anyone.
What are you talking about getting the crown back? From who? We still holding that. And why are you talking about Jada & Fat Joe on that Paris Hilton track when D4L came out with Laffy Taffy. Laugh at that.

Personally, i think the song is just okay. I’m sure the guy will blow up if he’s got the right connections, beats, etc…But seriously the southern music right now just seems very commercial and starting to sound a lot alike. (”You know what this is!” on everything and such) But the real truth is I think the EC rappers and southern rappers all have the heavies, the REAL rappers and they both have their more commercial-friendly artists. And there is a time and place for both. Sometimes you just want to lose your mind and not hear a real message, you just want to party and have fun. Can’t be mad at that…

OK..I know Imma stir some heat up with this comment….but to say that there aren’t or weren’t any good rappers in the south….just plain wrong…what about SCARFACE, OUTKAST, Goodie Mob, UGK…hey, if you wanna REALLY take it there I’ll even put up a few of the old No Limit & Cash Money rappers (Mac, Soulja Slim, C-Murder, Lil Wayne, Juve, BG)) against some up north cats, cause trust me, they HAD lyrics, it was just the beats that got redundant and lame…unfortunately, the south IS riding high on the style of music right now due to AD-LIBS and BEATS..but like #39 said, each region has their own heavy weights and their fair share of LAME rappers. Cause I’m still wondering wtf “Chicken Noodle Soup” is (and um aren’t THEY from up north??)..and you mean to tell me THAT song should be a hit compared to “Throw Some”?? pssshht….please

@37&38,
Tsk,Tsk..There’s that dreaded sensitivity…LMAO..Laffy Taffy is admittedly a dumb song..Hell D4L knows that and so does everyone else…They stiil got paid though ,which is really all that matters…If you are looking to be enlightened or educated take your ass to school and stop expecting a rapper to do it.As for the Lox killing every rapper in the South..girl bye..we might find out if that’s true if only the other two could get some airplay outside NYC.BTW having lyrics but no flow and garbage beats=no sales .Jay-Z,the whole South..boy bye..Jigga’s damn near 40 and Nas isn’t far behind.WTF… are they supposed to still be holding the East Coast up when they’re in their 50’s?Jigga said himself UGK is one of his fav rap groups…Where do you think all that ‘I’m a pimp’ shit comes from? Nas is st8 but inconsistent.

My opinion to all of the “Northerns” that think that southern rap is wack. That may be your opinion, but at the same time we might think that 50 cent is wack and I know that the stuff “Diddy” is droppin right now sucks. I think that Throw Some D’s is a HOttt track and to me it’s no different from Jim Jone’s Ballin track so 4get what yall sayin and age ain’t nothin but a number b/c at the video shoot all ages were out there and their heads were bobbin right along with the younge crowd!!!

AREN’T YOU TIRED OF HEARING ALL THESE CLOWNS SAY THE SAME THING???
i’m convinced anybody who likes this shit is simple. if you aren’t insulted by the consistent outpouring of mindless bullshit released by artists/the industry than you must not think about shit. if i’m gonna listen to someone, than they better fucking say something worth saying. and throw some ds on that bitch isn’t it.
it’s more like bitch please.
and the whole “i’ll listen to it cuz the beat’s hot” is a bullshit copout. you listen to it cuz you like it. words and all.
if you really liked the beat that much you’d bump the instrumental or be pissed enough to boycott the song completely. i choose the latter.
