If you watch MTV’s Run’s House, then you know Rev Run (Joseph Simmons) and Justine Simmons were expecting a child. Well, TMZ is reporting some tragic news…
A rapper’s wife gave birth Thursday, but the scene quickly turned to tragedy after their newborn girl was pronounced dead.
Rev Run, a.k.a. Joseph Simmons, shocked fans last year when he announced that his wife Justine was pregnant on his MTV reality show “Rev’s House.”
Justine’s pregnancy was the cliffhanger on the MTV show last season. It generated intense interest among viewers who have been anxiously following the pregnancy and awaiting the birth.
Simmons, a member of the legendary rap group Run DMC, was at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood New Jersey Tuesday for the birth of his child. Doctors delivered the baby via c-section, revealing a cruel twist of fate — the baby girl was born with organs outside the body. The newborn died a short time later.
TMZ has learned that MTV cameras were inside the hospital at the time of the birth, though we do not know if they were in the delivery room. [SOURCE]

Wow, sadness. I have a special place in my heart for every single member of that family. One of the few positive portrayals of black men, women, children and family on TV, and the best part is that is not scripted. i know how much Justine wanted a little girl and my heart is breaking for her.
That is so sad. An Justine wanted a little girl so bad and for this to happen is so heartbreaking. I hope the Simmons family can make it through this sad time.

The saddest part is that she wanted a daughter. The season ended with them at the doctor’s office getting a sonogram of the baby. I’m assuming they had the best pre-natal care possible, but why wasn’t this detected earlier?
Condolances to the Simmons family
After 10 years of prayer for a daughter, I gave birth to one that died 3 days later in 2002. I know what she is going through and only time, family and faith in God can bring her through. I lost my faith for a while after that and had to find my way back. I know that she has the support she needs though to stay strong. God Bless the family and keep them strong.

I’m sorry for the family if this is true. Honestly, I can’t believe that in this day of ultra-sounds that no one picked up on the child’s organs being outside of the body. Usually once that is detected, precautions can be taken to save the baby’s life. I’m just shocked I guess. I really enjoyed the show and was happy for the family. God bless the family and may the soul of the baby rest in peace

thats horrible, they def. need our prayers. i bet they are all very upset, and lost, thnk god that he’s a pastor and can guide them. they seem liek such good/decent people and for this to happen to them is sad

That’s not necessarily true. I’ve heard of 40 yr. old mother’s with 6 or 7 children give birth and deal with everything just fine. I think it’s all about timing.
My prayers are with them and the family. I know the anxiety and worry that comes along with pregnancy, being that I am pregnant now. This makes me worry about mine. I have one that is healhty but it is always a wait, pray and see situation. And for it to turn out like this is heartbreaking. My heart really goes out to them.
Being the mother of a newborn and a faithful watcher of the show, this really breaks my heart. My prayers definitely go out to the family.

I think you got my message wrong. “God wont give you anything that you cant handle” means that whatever pain you are going through, wont break you. Even though the pain is unbearable, God will get you through it.
WOW……..my prayers go out to the family……….but they are firmly rooted in their faith in God so I know they will be alright.
This is tragic. They have five beautiful children and whether they try again or not, they’ll be more than fine.
The Simmons are a strong, united, God-fearing circle. I’m sure by the grace of GOD, they will get through this, together.
