Ashanti has been looking beautiful at almost every event I see her at lately. SHe looks absolutely stunning and she is always smiling, so she must be doing something right!

I think Ashanti’s had to learn how to humble herself. When she first came out she rose to fame so fast her and the Inc. were the hottest thing out and I think she began to believe her own hype. That whole “princess of R&B” mess and her complaining about “haters” was way over the top. She was lucky to come out at a time when there was no real competition and be featured on hot rap singles. But as we saw w/ her second and third albums, people got tired of her and as the Inc. and Ja Rule faded so did she. I think she’s someone who got real lucky and if she wants to continue to have a career she needs to pull everything she has out of herself and make a masterpiece of an album to prove to people she was more than just the Inc. mascot. I wish her the best.

She only got famous because of Aaliyah’s death. She rode right in on the coattails of that, with her label even trying to market her as “The Princess of Hip-Hop R&B”, which was similar to (or the same as) Aaliyah’s title.

For that (plus that garbage-ass song she did over the Biggie beat, plus the fact that SHE CAN’T SING), I never did her.

Also, its fairly common knowledge that she’s Nelly’s bronze medal. He wanted to holler at Bee, and after learning she was taken, he tried Kelly, who was dating that football player at the time and therefore also taken. So he settled for his third choice, Ashanti.

That said, they look adorable together. And she looks fantastic in that dress.

Lastly, I’m SO very glad that Janet Jackson Jr. (Ciara) killed her music career. Neither of them can sing, but I’ll take Ciara’s dancing over Ashanti’s corny two-step and “stroke-the-hair” routine ANYDAY!

I’m 1 of Shani’s biggest fans. She look gorgeous as always. And for the poeple who say she has no fans, are wrong! All her mainstream album have ATLEAST went platinum! Everybody can’t do that. Everything that went on with the Inc. & still still was the only 1 selling records. Ashanti’s ‘Concrete Rose’went platinum with ONE single, and ‘Only U’ on peked to 13 on the Hot 100.
Now 2006 I believe Ashanti is no longer with the Inc. I sure hope so, because she can do so much w/o them, IMO. I’m so excited to see what she is going to do with her new album! I have confidence in her. And as much as people talk about how Ashanti can’t sing or dance, beezies still be bumping her music.

you don’t have to be able to sing to sell albums we all know that… My thing is why is it hate if someone doesn’t like her music. The truth is her talent is average. Her image is worth more than her talent, which equaled album sales. She is a pop artist which means her music has to be simple and easy to remember which she has down pat. I have honestly tried to figure this phenomenon out. Could it be that regular folks are jealous of the people with real talent, so they prefer someone with a singing voice more like theirs? It disturbs me that you really think you know what you are talking about. People have different tastes in music. So to call someone simple minded for liking an artist is simple minded.

I am a huge Ashanti fan who happens to own cds by all of the “talented” women you mentioned, and I love alot of the old school stuff.

I also happened to think that Ashanti is NOT that good of a live performer but her cds…each and every one of them have been worth MY money.

Whereas I think Heather Headley has an awesome voice both her cd’s have sucked to me. You get 3 good songs and the rest is crap.

People kill me getting all philosphical about who should be selling and who shouldn’t and they are the last ones supporting the so called “talent”.
