CRACKER BARREL DISSES CHRIS ROCK’S MOTHER

rose_rock.jpgRose Rock (mother of Chris Rock) says she sat without service for nearly an hour at a South Carolina Cracker Barrel restaurant, claiming the poor service was because she’s black.

Well I live in North Carolina, so I been to my share of Cracker Barrel’s and let me just tell you, this story doesn’t surprise me one bit. I hate that damn place, and I hope she gets some money out of them. They put the CRACKER in Cracker Barrel, if you know what I mean.. Read what happened..

Rock said Tuesday she planned to sue the Lebanon, Tennessee-based company. A Cracker Barrel spokeswoman said the restaurant chain was investigating and taking the complaint “very seriously.”

Cracker Barrel has in the past faced numerous lawsuits and a federal inquiry over complaints of refusing to serve black customers, discriminating against minority workers and firing gay employees. The company has taken steps to rebuild its folksy image and reach out to minorities.

Rock, who is from Georgetown, said she and her 21-year-old daughter were the only blacks at the chain’s Murrells Inlet restaurant in April. She said when she asked the manager about the delay she was told they could have a free meal.

“He never called over the waitresses and asked, ‘Why did these people sit here for a half hour without service?’ ” she said. “The only thing he said was we could have a free meal and neither of us wanted to eat.” Cracker Barrel spokeswoman Julie Davis said the company doesn’t “tolerate any form of discrimination.” [SOURCE]

good post POLLCAT, I AM AMAZED at the level of ignorance in general by some black people. How many ways blacks can people find to diagree and hate eachother……should be the question.

When it comes to black history, I see that ignorance is the law of the land these days. the MISEDUCATION OF THE NEGRO, will lead us to our OWN demise.

PLEASE people stop questioning this womans decesion. What you gain by support her is alot more than by questiong her decesion. We’ve all been in her shoes and it is UNACCEPTABLE. She has the $$$$ to fight back and the courage to fight back, which I say again, is more than most of us. She is a doer not a talker. WE SHOULD APPLAUD and HOPE SHE WINS! Her win is a win for all of us. Hell she already won by standing up and getting this out to the public

I ate one time at the Cracker Barrell in Nashville Tennesee and had a nice experience. One of the people in our party was White so that could have made a difference. Or maybe it just who was working that day. I dunno. Bad service is more a reflection of the management because its their responbility to make sure customers get served regardless of race. Racism is the insitution in the South and unfortunately that affects how business is conducted sometimes there. Since Cracker Barrell is a Southern company they probably don’t take the racial compliants seriously. That will kill them in the long run when things become more organized and more civil rights leadership gets involved. Boycotts, bad press, ouch. I’d be careful about that. Denny’s had to clean up their bullshit real fast.

Just stumbled on this story and I’m stunned that CR’s mum waited 1HOUR for her food. After 15-20 mins, I’m gonna kick up a fuss!

Also, the manager offers you a free meal and you say ‘neither of us want to eat’.

So what the f— were you doing in there in the first place?! Dumb, dumb, dumb.

A Cracker Barrel recently opened in our area ( first one within 120 miles) and I had a good experience. I am Hispanic and am happy to say they treated me well. I am in deep south Texas ( Mcallen Texas). I did experience a racist incident in Tenessee once about 14 years ago at a mom and pops family diner though, so I can relate. Racism should not be tolerated and a lawsuit is in order.

I worked at a cracker Barrell in pigeon forge Tennesee and we were not allowed to discriminate against anyone which i wouldnt anyway God loves blacks as much as he loves whites and every other race. but they fire their employees over some ridiculous things like they did me.I wish i could work their again Gina Garrett

I waitress at a Cracker Barrel in the DFW area, I find it unacceptable that she actually sat there for an hour and a half without anybody noticing that she had not been serverd. That would never have happened in my store. That just does to show that in that specific Cracker Barrel poor managment and not hiring good servers. If I ever see any customer that is looking around or doesn’t have a drink in front of them I always ask if they have been helped weather they are sitting in my assigned section or not. I’m only 29, but I’m old school and I was raised to be respectful towards others, alot of the youth are not these days, they are taught to be spoiled brats and to look out for number one.

As a former employee of CB. I was work there for 5 years, and I was opened two stores.
What happened to her is should never happened , no matter what location or which state are you !
I believe it black or white is a same and no exception about that, but! here is a story:
My coworker who was work there four years she was fired because she serve a wrong item to the customer, and ques what? customer was a colored and the server was a white who have to feed 3 children at home! *** she lost her job because that.***
People who colored they think need a special attention then a white, which is come from a discrimination because colored people against white people , I do not agree whit Chris Mom.
CB. policy is do not tolerate race or color discrimination they will be fired immediately!
About training: All CB. employee have to have a computer test every 3 months for qualified for adding a star! some of them who do not pass the test they will be fired slowly.
