I wasn’t even going to make a post about this, but someone needs to call out all these blogs and message boards for jumping on Isaiah Washington without having any credible facts or sources.
A couple weeks ago, Isaiah Washington and Patrick Dempsey – both stars of Grey’s Anatomy, got into a little scuffle while filming a scene for the hit show. Supposedly, Isaiah threw Patrick against the wall with his hands around his neck, spewing derogatory words at him. And I quote:
“I’m not your little faggot like [name redacted],” referring to a fellow cast member.
That cast member was T.R. Knight, who recently “came out” to the media. No official reports have come out saying that Isaiah actually said that..
Oh and don’t forget, Patrick was an innocent bystander, who didn’t do anything to provoke him. This is me rolling my eyes.
Now, TMZ is claiming this isn’t the first time Isaiah has been a “terror” on the set. They claim to have sources from other television and movie sets that say he has always caused drama.
One “source” is saying that on the set of Soul Food (2000):
Washington and an actress, who played his wife, were shooting a scene in which Isaiah was supposed to give the woman a superficial kiss. We’re told to the horror of everyone, Washington grabbed the woman and planted a “forceful, aggressive kiss.”
The actress became irate, which then infuriated Washington who began screaming at her. At that point the director stepped in to correct Washington, and the actor went off on him. Executive Producer Tracey Edmonds then took over and Washington went off on her.
I’m guessing they are saying that woman was Nicole Ari Parker, because he played Miles (her husband) on the first season of the show.
Did you catch how they used terms like “forceful,” “terror,” and “horror” to desribe his behavior? Yeah I caught that shit TMZ, yall ain’t slick.
They also claim to have another source from some old movie set, saying he has anger management problems. Yes, of course every black man can’t control their anger. That was me being sarcastic.
All I know is that until I read an official report about this whole Grey’s Anatomy incident, I’m not believing anything. It’s easy to blame the black person when drama goes down, but now they are making him out to be some sort of crazy mad man? Please! I heard some rumors about Patrick Dempsey being nothing short of a damn drama queen, but you don’t see anyone writing anything about that.
The creator of Grey’s Anatomy, Shonda Rhimes (who happens to be black), needs to set this straight because we all know how rumors can get out of hand.
We all look at these gossip tidbits about celebrities black white whatever all day — knowing that the item has a high probability of being false.
And *now* we’re waiting to pass judgement on Isaiah Washington? LOL
Why the sudden change of heart?
I don’t feel like Isaiah’s being picked on. The story wasn’t that he flipped out on Dempsey. There was a late cast member, Dempsey tried to stand up for him, Washington wasn’t trying to hear that and it escalated.
Let’s find something more substantative to March On Washington for OK?
This is just another case of black people feeding into stereotypes. He is now being viewed as the “black buck”(angry, aggressive, sexually charged). No matter how you slice it, his behavior was inappropriate and he had no business doing what he did. Black people need to learn to stop falling into traps. We do it every time and then wonder WHY they say those things about us. Racism in this world is as prevailant as it has always been…it’s just disguised better. Get it together.

News reports dont say white pedophile arrested, so why does color have to cc added in negative situations involving black people and not in other instances. and while some of us may have problems with the way the media has characterized his actions, the fact of the matter is that in a workplace it is inappropriate to put your hands on someone and it’s not okay to use the term faggot, especially in proximity to someone who is gay/in the closet. that is called creating a hostile workplace and people are fired daily for such behavior. if that’s the way one wants to act in one’s personal life, cool. but at work, that’s a no-no. undoubtedly washington is the most talented actor of those appearing in the series and is fine but i would definitely be trying to get a mofo fired/blacklisted if he put his hands on me and was throwing around the word faggot. it sounds like he played himself.

Washington is an idiot!! He’s on the number 1 show and he’s fighting with the top character for nothing. He knows that Dempsey and the McDreamy thing are a highlight of the show. I think the point of this post was to discuss the way the media has been portraying this man when nothing has been confirmed yet. I got nothing to say about what “happened” until I know what actually happened.
I think the media is playing him though cause nothing has been confirmed and everyone is running after this man like they know for a fact. I agree with some of what you said. Mostly everyday I have a make a split decsion as to how I will react to situation that involves my so-called pride being bruised. Be it a sharp stare-down or some guy stepping on my foot on the train without saying excuse me.
When this happens, I’m usually on my way to work and I have that split second to react. The first thing I do is the math:
I’m on my way to a job that I value

I depend on this job for my very livelihood

If I “go in” with this nicca, it won’t be sweet and it most likely will escalate

If that happens, most likely, we’re gonna BOTH be arrested or ONE of us is going to the hospital

I’m a grown man and not some wild-ass teenager with something to prove

In the end, I tend to go through my day and choose my battles wisely. I just simply let some shyt go unless your stance is going to threaten me with some serious bodily harm.

On topic, I dont think we can truly judge the situation until the true facts come out. I’m willing to give him the benifit of the doubt, but I must that even if he was edged on by WORDS he shouldnt have placed his hands on another man. If he was angry that they were late to the set he should have discussed their lack of proffesionalism with the shows creator or somebody incharge. I don’t think T.R. was outted. He was never “in the closet”. I guess he just thought it was a good opportunity to address it to his fans. Anyway, I don’t think he’s blaming Isaiah, but I would be pissed if someone called me out of my name in an argument that I wasn’t even a part of. That’s one thing I can’t stand. I don’t know anything about the physical altercation- if one did take place, it is really ridiculous. These are grown men who work together. They need to get their egos in check.
