  1. And for those of you who are curious, the Tyrese interview will be up sometime this week…

  2. NewNubianEmpress

How does he feel about the “Sophomore” curse?

Does he feel that time is important when making his music or does he aim for the timeless element when writing songs?

Will he ever do a snap song?

Has he changed in terms of stylizing and word choice in his new CD?

How does he stay so fione?! LOL—-seriously, Im just interested in reading what you ask when you post it—ignore my questions, but if you find them useful…then ask them! LOL

  3. NewNubianEmpress

    really…PLZ DONT ASK N E OF THOSE ?s LOL

  4. Is he dating Osama Bin Laden’s niece and if so why? Does he at all feel weary about the situation or does he feel he has nothing to worry about?
I’ve spoken to several people regarding this issue and they’ve indicated they would never purchase any of his music again if the rumor is true. How does that make him feel?

  5. Meatloaf

Ask him, is “it is what is is”?

But, on a serious note, I would like to know if he plans to do TV or speaking engagements. I heard him on Bill Maher and was very impressed with his take on world views.

Also, I would like to know if he logs onto websites like CL or myspace?

    Thanks Boo!

  6. LOL! I’ll ask him some of those. I’m listening to his new album now, and it has a different vibe from the first one. So far, so good though.

  7. I wouldn’t care if he was datin’ Flava Flav, I love his music, will be coping this album

  8. halcyonc

    He is so boring…ZZZZZZZZ

  9. ms_mac1

@ Meatloaf. Yes. It is what it is. lol @ your crazy butt.

  10. Yeah yall are posting some of the questions I already had written down. I’m still trying to see how I can squeeze in that Osama Bin Laden thing. I’ll figure out a way though. lol.

  11. RaRa

    Angel.A,

    I have two.

    1) Who inspires you as an artist?
    2) Since the industry is saturated with mainstream stuff that all sounds the same, what advice would you give an up and coming female who doesn’t fit into the mainstream mode?

Also I’m in NC too (Raleigh) where are you?

  12. I just listened to it myself…

    DEFINETLY different…

I need to listen about 6 more times and then I’ll have a opinion..

  13. I live in Jacksonville, NC. Also known as Wacksonville.

  14. Also ask him why he looks homeless in that middle pic, is that the look they were trying to achieve? Because they sure as hell reached it.

  15. NewNubianEmpress

Oh!…how does he feel about the media playing up HIV/AIDS epidemic from being a “gay” disease to being a “Black African” disease?

I’ve seen a lot of celebs do things to try to bring awareness to the situation, but in reality all they are doing is marketting themselves in a favorable light, making big bucks for companies, and placing a tenth or sometimes 2/10 of the proceeds to the actual endorsed cause. In the process, they are maginalizing HIV/AIDS to be a BLACK AFRICAN thing…

I’m not African, but I feel that it sucks….and I want to TRULY know how ppl in the same circle as the people who are inadvertantly perpetuating this stereotype feel :/

  16. NewNubianEmpress

Oooh…for the word association, can you see what he thinks about his name “john stephens” or “legend”…oh and “Mz. Peachez”—no just kidding again about Ms. Peachez……Cant wait to read ur interview Mama!

  17. lala

    john, are you really gay?

  18. ms_mac1

@ Angel La, slippin it in is easy (no pun intended). Just ask which celebrity he has a crush on. Then whatever whack ass answer he gives you, follow it up by asking if the rumor about him being linked to ole girl is true.

  19. LMAO @ ASBURY. HE DOES LOOK HOMELESS!

THAT’S MY NIG! I CANT WAIT FOR THE INTERVIEW. I WILL BE COPPIN THAT ALBUM AS SOON AS I GET OFF WORK.

  20. Ask him whether he thinks Kanye has an over inflated ego, just to see if he laughs or not. If he does laugh then that means he does think Kanye’s head is SUPER BIG…lol

  21. Not to get into your business Angel La, but what exactly do you do? Are you interviewing JL just for CL or for a magazine of some sort? Anyway, Its just nice to see a young black woman making movies. Good luck on you interview.

    Now My question:
As an artist who has had mainstream success but music is not really what is considered “mainstream” today, do you feel that you have to sacrifice some of your creativity to obtain and keep that success this time around?

  22. SUGA BUGA

look at that middle picture on the bottom. What is up with that HAT? They way he looks its like he is saying “my mama, made me wear this”!!

  23. misscapri

ask him to sing you his version of justin timberlake’s my love. i saw him do it on mtv yesterday.

  24. 1foxybee

Are those stretch pants in the middle picture? I don’t know about that pic. Its SUSPECT.

  25. Ask him for his address so I can send him a shirt.

  26. Ashbury, that’s a good question. Imma throw that one in there. lol.

@ 22. Yeah, this is an exclusive interview for you guys.. :)

  27. Betty Boop

    AWESOME VOICE………ugly hat tho

  28. foxxy380

Must his pants be that tight in the middle pic? Good lawd! His balls ain’t hurting?

  29. I seriously doubt he can have kids in the future after wearing those pants.

  30. I’m pretty sure u have this written down: But what made inspired th vibe of this CD and why didn’t he go the R&B route? I mean it’s R&B but u know what I mean

  31. elles_closet

ask him how he guages success? is it being able to have crossover appeal? although it can be argued one loses core fans that way.

oh. & i agree with the poster who said… “BORING…ZZZZ”! he is so blah. like a can of white paint!

  32. Timberland_Suede

I would like to know how he handles his celebrity since it happend so fast.

What kind of preasures he has to deal with in the industry.

It is obvious that he has talent but is it a natural thing like for example Lauryn Hill, or Stevie Wonder. Does he have to pick up a pen and really think to write a song or lyric as opposed to a person who grabs a mic and an instrument and effortlessly produces a song.

What female male and female artists he would like to work with next.

Who is in his CD Player or IPOD.

Does he have a stylist or did he create his own look.

In 3 words describe the greatest love of your life (excluding God and family members)

Does he feel he have staying power.

If you had to write the recipe for sucess what would be the ingrediants and instructions.

  33. elles_closet

oh. & who cares about tyrese… keep singing those hooks!

  34. Sizzle

I was listening to his Soul Mixtape Vol. 1 CD that was put out before his 1st album. (I think the DJ is Static Selector or something like that.)

Obvious, after listening to it, his favorite artist is Lauryn Hill. I had no clue he’d played the piano on her Miseducation album. I was suprised to here that. Who else has he colaborated with that we might be suprised to here about?

  35. Sweet Dee

It was rumored that he was dating Kanye WWest cousin in college(Who is a man) and that’s how he got connected with him? Is that true? Ask him if Kanye West cousin is gay!

  36. Why is he so presumptious as to call himself a “legend” when he’s only on his second CD?

  37. Sizzle there are so many, too many to list but here are a few….

Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys, Twista, Common, Talib Kweli, Jay Z, Tony Bennett, Q Tip, Bilal(where’d he go), BEP, Mase and Slum Village to name a few.

  38. amanda

My question would be to ask him how is this album Once Again different from Get Lifted? And was Kanye involved in this project?

  39. BashyBoo

    caff said:
Ask him for his address so I can send him a shirt.

LMAOOOOOOOOO I SWEAR CAFF HAS ME DYING ON A HOURLY BASIS

    NOW TO ANGEL LA:
I MUST ADMIT I DIDNT REALLY THINK OF CL AS ANYTHING MORE THAN A BLOG WHERE WE THE PUBLIC CAN LET OFF A LITTLE BIT OF STEAM, BUT LOOK AT YOU MS. ANGEL LA DOING AN INTERVIEW WITH JOHN LEGEND,(IN MY MARTIN VOICE) U GO GIRL!

NOW THE QUESTIONS, ID LIKE TO KNOW HOW IT MAKES HIM FEEL WHEN PEOPLE JUST AUTOMATICALLY ASSUME HE’S GAY, DOES HE BRUSH IT OFF DOES GET DEPRESSED? DOES HE SEE MARRIAGE/CHILREN IN HIS FUTURE? WHAT ARE HIS FACIAL REGIMINES BECAUSE HIS SKIN IS FLAWLESS. WHO IS STYLIST, AND ALSO TELL HIM THAT HIS CLOTHES ARE NOT TOO TIGHT THEY ARE PERFECT, HE IS A FASHION HORSE AND TRUST ME JAMAICANS LOVE HIS TIGHT CLOTHES LOOK HE LOOKS NICE AND NEAT!

IF YOU DONT ASK HIM ANYTHING ELSE PLEEEEEEEEEASE ASK HIM ABOUT THE OSAMA NEICE SITUATION BECAUSE I NEVER HEARD THAT UNTIL NOW, I TELL YA THIS CONCRETELOOP IS TOO IMFORMATIVE *WINK*

  40. VAMadam

I agree Angel the album is good. The second album is so much better than the first. I was in the small minority who didn’t like the first album at all. In this second album he doesn’t seem to over pronunciate the lyrics and yell like in the first album. The lyric content and instrumentation are better as well.

  41. Meatloaf

Ask him about his favorite charities and how he gives back!

Ask, how he deals with all the women coming up to get with him???

How many sq. ft. is his crib and what rides are in his garage?

Then, do a word association, first thing that comes to mind when you say:

    Family?

    Education?

    Concreteloop?

    Hip-hop?

    Alicia Keys?

    Red Carpets?

    Michael Jackson?

    Janet Jackson?

    Beyonce?

    R. Kelly?

    Diddy?

  42. What was he smokin when he made that wack ass “Save Room” track?

  43. Dave

Im definately gonna have to listen to the album like 5 or 6 times before I can say whether I like it or not. I didnt instantly take to it like I did with the first one.

Could you possibly ask him where the numbers on the side of the posts went. That would be awesome. J/K

I was told that Will.I.Am wrote Ordinary People so could you ask how much of this new album did he write or produce himself.

  44. Nandi

Oh my God!!!!!!I’ve gone crazy about John Legend for the last couple of days,he was recently here in London and I saw him on “GMTV” one of our morning talk show and I love his new album,in fact I’m buying one for my boyfriend.I’ve been watching him daily on MSN Music, there are clips of the concert he had in the Albert Royal Hall.

    Here are my QUESTIONS:

1.Your music is just different from what people would expect from some African Americans who are more in Hip Hop,what were the inspiration that made you come out with different tunes?

2.Did you write the songs on this new album?Where are the stories from,is that from personal experience?

And my favorite song is “SAVE ROOM”,so can he save room for me if he is still single?

  45. @44 I still see the numbers. lol

Thanx for all the questions yall. Keep them coming.

  46. Do a word association with other random words like:

    Meatloaf

    Apple pie

    vagina

    Hair weaves

    Ass implants

    caff the CL member

…and then play a “this or that” game. Like…

Have sex with Remy Ma or eat a bowl of broken glass?

Have a staring contest with Lil Kim or dig your own eyes out with a paperclip?

Kiss a male or kiss a female?

Shit like that, you know? Better yet, just let me handle the interview. I’ll get things poppin’.

  47. Nah Angel 44 is right, those numbers are gone. lol

  48. inettadamoodsettabootlegversion

    This is a three-part question…

If he were stranded on a desert island, of the following black celebrity women whom would he chose as his stow-away (on a platonic level though)?

    A) Oprah Winfrey
    B) Condoleezza Rice
    C) Hilary Clinton
    D) Alicia Keys
    or
    E) Cicely Tyson

Of those choices, who does he think has the “hood-est” (I know it’s not a real word but you get my point) name?

Also, of those ladies who does he think could cook the hell out of the “day’s catch” (after he’s gone to find what he could on the island)?

  49. Inettadamood…etc

I went to sleep twice just now. Once while reading your username and again in the middle of that question.

  50. WHEN THE HELL DID HILIARY CLINTON BECOME A BLACK WOMAN????????????????????

  51. Ever since she got cheated on.

    [drums & high hat]

  52. FeFe

Can you ask him why his new album sucks? It is just awful…I got the advanced preview and listened to it over the weekend and I thought it was really, really bad!!!!

  53. Lilly

    I would like to know:

    (1) How does he deal with rumors and does he feel his has any privacy.

    (2) What is the most outrageous rumor he has heard about himself…and what did he think about the rumor (did he get mad, laugh it off, etc.)

    (3) Does he look at artist like Whitney Houston (who was so big) and try to avoid some of the pitfalls she fell into? How does he “try” and stay grounded?

    (4) Many women (and men) like his style and his sexiness, does he think he is sexy?

    (5) Would he ever want to not be in the music business…retire at some point?

  54. Bernice V

-Is he gay? How does he feel about being around Kanye who everyone suspects is gay. Also being in the church a lot of black males that were in the church are coming out how does he feel?
-What’s the concept behind Heaven it’s such a hot song how did he pen it. What was the atmosphere like at that time?
-What’s the concept behind his album how does he want his listeners to precieve it?
-Why does he look like that?
-How come his new album did get the promotions needed to effectively get people to support it?
Is he mad that his album didn’t get any play?
-Why does he do that when he’s singing with his hands it’s a gay trait. How does he feel?
-How does he feel about the down-low epidemic?

  55. inettadamoodsettabootlegversion

CAFF, that’s nothing compared to you gettin your Marques Houston and Neyo on.

  56. Meatloaf

Don’t be like that Caff! lol But, you could be on to something…Legend probably does like meatloaf!

  57. KARLA

JOHN(AIN’T NO)LEGEND… IT’S JUST SOMETHING ABOUT THIS GUY,AND I DON’T LIKE IT! MAYBE IT’S HIS VOICE THAT I’M NOT FEELIN…NO,I THINK IT’S MORE THAN THAT!!!!!

  58. inettadamoodsettabootlegversion

Oh yeah, Hilary aint “really” black, but she wanna be. That’s what I was thinkin about when I wrote that. Just forgot to add it in there.
