Ok..on the real though. How come it is hard for the black community to just admit that Lauryn is doing a drug NOBODY know’s about. This chic done had about 304 babies, she’s only seen in the fall/winter months, and she had on that big ass bow-tie on the BET awards. All signs of drug use.

I hear you, I don’t care what the texture of ones hair, that’s up to them. Me personally I know why I perm my hair, this shit is a HOT ASS MESS(m-f)!!!!!!!!
I’m told I have the weirdest hair people have seen and it’s the truth. If I go to the salon and get it done I swear on everything I love it looks like a weave, just like fake hair. However if I relax it on my own it just looks like someone with hair that can be wet and made curly, which by the way I can do. BUT I CAN NOT wear my hair natural, if I wear it natural and wet it every day it dangles sooooo bad. It’s realllly soft so I don’t know what to do with it, can any sista’s that wear their hair natural give me any advice? When I say it tangles I mean tangle like it takes me 1 and 1/2 to get the tangles out. My hair is past my shoulders and I don’t wanna cut my hair because I like being able to rock a pony tail when I get ready to.
Any advice ladies?????

Asbury, Here’s the thing. NATURAL IS NOT FOR EVERYBODY. I can’t ever go natural b/c my texture won’t allow it. Say what you want, all black people cannot go natural naturally. It can be very difficult based on your texture. With that said, why does a black person have to be admonished b/c they don’t want to rock the natural look? It’s ridiculous to believe that God made us all to look the same and have the same capabilities with our hair.

We’ve had this debate on here before so I refuse to go around and around about this. But I will say that if you don’t get all up in arms when someone says “Such and such weave is tore up”, don’t get your panties twisted and take it personal when someone says “such and such natural is tore up”.

lauren is DYING to express herself in any way possible….that’s where the hair, clothes, etc come from. she needs to be and find herself again and it’s hard when you got people criticizing and nit picking and putting you down every time you turn around.

I understand that, I think I’m one of those people that can not go natural but I am tired of relaxing my hair. So that’s where the dilemma comes in at, I don’t know what else to do with it. I’m to tender head for braids, so what else is there because I’m not doing the weave thing again?

Since you would like to wear it natural, let your perm either grow off or strip it. I suggest letting it grow off but keep it well conditioned. You can try the Dark&Lovely Detangling Shampoo and Conditioner. That’s what I use for my tangled hair. My hair waves up like crazy when I go to the salon to get a perm. Weird huh? Anyway, I feel you on not doing weaves. I have stopped for a lil over a year and I tell ya, my pocketbook and roots have thanked me for it! LOL!

Thanks however this is going to sound strange as hell BUT I can not use Black shampoos in my hair. The ONLY shampoo I can use is Pantene and not the Black one. Everything else strips my hair of it’s natural essence(whatever the hell that is lol). Even before I started to perm my hair it was so soft, I can’t even hold a curl. I just rock a doobie alllllll the time. Which isn’t that bad because my hair is healthy as hell but I want something different.

Ugh i really wanna help yall sistas that say u cant rock the natural. Trust me ladies it can be done, u just need to learn how to care for natural hair, because more than likely you dont (I didnt either so its not a diss). If your really serious about goin natural i got some links that are very helpful.

But in response to ms mac how is natural not for everyone? We as a race have been told time and time again that thick and tightly curled hair is “bad hair” and even though we feel its taboo to say someone has “good hair” our actions still show that this belief of good and bad hair (loose curls vs. nappy) still exists in our community. I will say that I would never say a relaxed woman is ashamed of her heratage because alot of women like the style of straightened hair, but i get upset when women cant find the beauty in their natural hair.

Also just another reason not to get relaxers (sorry 4 preachin lol)…relaxers change your hair follicals so if you ever decide to go natural your hair wont be the same texture as it was when you were a child. Also relaxers with lye basically break the bonds in your hair making it weak.
