And, about your chronology…I can only appreciate Lauryn’s accomplishments from 1992-1998! By the time the drug rumors started, I had lost respect, because she had lost respect for her fans. A six year hot streak for someone as gifted as Lauryn is a shame! One-hit wonders taking God’s gifts lightly! (#110 #114, that was for you too!)
Even Moses had to admit that he was misusing the power! I would hate to suddently see our young people letting their hair grow to long lengths without caring for it! I’m sorry, that’s just my opinion! Black hair is beautiful, but it is a problem if we don’t take care of it!
I’m not sure what contradiction you’re talking about! I said, “don’t take your eye off of her hair” and I used two examples of hair’s significance in the bible to support my statement! Where’s the contradiction?

Your first point here about natural hair or unattented hair…this is the first signs of someone who is shutting down or has given up! John was out in the wilderness and his hair started matting up! People thought he was crazy! So, matted hair could be the signal for intervention!
To your second point, who cares…? Why intervne? If someone hadn’t intervened for Whitney, she’s still be high on crack! Yes, we are our sister and brother’s keepers! Lauryn needs outside help! She shouldn’t be allowed to just keep “doing her”, because “doing her” is not healthy and nobody wants to wait until its too late!

She obviously picked it out, and has it shorter in the back and has dyed it a different color cuz we all know Lauryn didn’t come out with no brown hair. She is taking care of it. She just isnt taking care of it in the Madame CJ Walker context. She’s taking care of it in the TRUE black context.
As for six year winning spree. I dont understand how you lost respect for Lauryn in 1998 after drug rumors. Question: Did you ever see Lauryn sniff coke, burn heroine, anything. Closest she probably ever got was a puff of weed every now and then and being married into a Rastafarian family (who treats marijuana as a sacrament, much the same way the Native Americans treated peyote, and eastern asians treated opium, as a sacramental herb of transcendence) that’s to be expected.
But if you never saw Lauryn do drugs, then it was foolish of you to loose respect for her in 98-99. That’s when she was still on the ball. And I can’t believe you only counted 1992-1998. When her most profound statement came in 2001 with Unplugged 2.0. Or are you one of those people who think she was just yelling crying and holding a guitar instead of digesting the knowledge and spirit.
Her career didnt end in 1998. She had grammy nomination in 2001 for Mystery of Iniquity and one in 2005 for So High. And is still putting out music.

I cant understand how you lost respect for her, when Talib Kweli just wrote a song in her honor, John Legend begged her to appear on his So High remix, Mos Def, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin, Carlos Santana, Jay-Z, The Game, 50 Cent, Al Green, etc., etc., etc. have all made recent comments about her praising her.
Dont be so quick to dismiss someone based on a DRUG RUMOR, the same rumor mill that tries to destroy everyone in Hollywood, who isnt promoting sex and humor.

She does not look terrible, I m so disgusted by non black people who criticize natural wigs or dreadlocks. I don’t see anything wrong with the wigs it suits her skin because she is black, unless people want her to have a blond weave which I think is fake and does not suit people who are dark skinned.
The hair looks wild but looks good on her because she is naturally beautiful. I wonder why people are so uncomfortable with her style she has always dressed differently check her out from 1996. She has a great body her legs are killer but she never shows off, maybe once in a while. Do people want LH to look or dress like beyonce hell no. LH has always had a style that defines who she is. I saw the dress she is wearing on some other blog it looked amazing, she can look good when she wants too. I love the afro it suits her dress code. I will never again believe what the media has created about this beautiful talented woman. I love her face she looks pretty and her body still looks good as hell she is doing quite well for a mother of 4. Imagine what will beyonce look like after 4 kids.
