SHOW JAY WHATCHA’ GOT!
Friday, October 6, 2006

Jay-Z is out of retirement and has returned with his new single, “Show Me What You Got.” I really love the production, I haven’t decided whether or not I like the song or not. I have to listen to Jay-Z’s verses more than a few times to decide whether or not I like them. But I’m a Jay-Z fan. I’m hoping that has album is up to par, because people have been saying that he’s trying to hard recently. I’m not sure what I think yet, but I’d love what you guys have to say about the single. I will form my opinion later, so I’d like to hear what you guys have to say.

well it’s like this the song is iight not Jay’s best yet still just because it’s Hov it’s gonna be number 1 but I’d rather wait for Dead Presidents III
and to the fool that said it’s a wrecks n effect sample the original is :
The Lafayette Afro Rock Band “Darkest Light”(1972)
and the drum line is :
Johnny Pate “Shaft In Africa” (1973)
the only thing u got right was the sample of Public Enemy
although if the original had lyrics the illest remix would be to have Chuck D on a verse with Flav goin crazy with Jay on the hook ….. would be a hot video but that is so far fetched anyway I will still cop the album cus it is the perfect setup for Nas to drop his 1st quarter without the pressure I mean he is on Jay’s album in case u didn’t know

These comments are so stupid. Jay Z does not write down any of his lyrics down. So basically he memorizes everything and freestyles. You do that and tell me what you come up with. And I bet 99% of the people talking about this song is going be the main ones first in line for the new album.

The song if FIRE! The track MORE FIRE!!! Real instruments make the track bang! Anybody with musical background, outside of MTV & BET ( especially in percussion ) has to love it!

ANYONE WITH ANY DEPTH CAN’T TAKE THAT LOLLYPOP GUMBLEGUM BULLSHIT JAYZ BE TALKING BOUT “MONEY, CAR’S HOES! #154 I agree wit you totally, when I was in high school and I said that I didn’t like him I would get cursed out for show. I never liked Jayz, but he put the icing on the cake when he bit pac’s song and pac didn’t even like his ass, and I am a pac stan all day everyday.Hell I don’t like nas cause he did the same shit, he jumped on pacs stuff, but if it was between jayz and nas i would say nas his the best, dude can spit.

not really liking this song at all, i don’t think he should have used the wrecks in effects track, that song was a classic, jay should have been a little more creative, hopfully its not a first release.

I love Shawn Carter, but this song is just not up to par. I hate to agree with Earl, but Beyonce has changed him drasticly. I need for him to channel the gutta Jay-Z. The song is okay for what it is, but I hope this isn’t the flow of the album.

The only thing I like about this song are the samples, Lay-Z needs to stay retired until he can think of something new to say.
The instrumental is hot though…
By the way this song is a combination of:
1-Johnny Pate - Shaft in Africa*
*previously sampled by:
Rass Kass-Rasassination
2-Lafayette Afro Rock Band - Darkest Light**
**Horns featured in:
Public Enemy - Show ‘Em Whatcha Got
Wreck N Effect - Rump Shaker
