VIDEO: JAY-Z - SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT
Monday, October 16, 2006
spotted @ Nah Right
Check out the premiere of Jay’s new video for ‘Show Me What You Got’ directed by F. Gary Gary. The quality kinda sucks but, you can still see it’s a neat vid…makes me like the song a tad bit more.

jscene you are being ridiculous , so you want him to make every song for the hood? every song about the struggle? does jigga look like hes struggling to you? He’s making money so that’s what he sings bout…does it mean you have to go rob/kill someone to roll like jigga? no it means you can work hard jus like he did and get it too..I don’t quite understand what you are asking. Lil wayne says hes the best rapper alive..do i believe him or even care that he says it. NO i dont give a shit. But they are alot of ppl who do believe jigga is the best rapper…he can say what he wants.
If jigga were to act and rhyme like he still in the hood struggling..ud hear oh he aint got no street cred ..that nigga aint gangsta..he aint know none bout us in the ghetto..why he fakin..why he actin like he care bout us…that nigga dont be in marcy…
I mean its like he cant win with yall, this is a radio song, take it for what it is. The average person cannot relate to this, the average person who buys his album cannot relate to this…NOT many at all can relate to this, and the ones who can usually aint listening to rap music. So let dude live out his life and what he knows in his videos. Keeping it real is…do i believe jigga really got those cars and boats…yes i do.
Like i said real hiphop heads buy albums for the album not the beat on one commercial record. He has REAL songs as you call it on his album..so i dont know how exactly hes supposed to keep it real and ghetto and all that, that’s not even his life anymore. Does he make songs commenting on that..yes he does…check his albums man. He doesnt have to be your fave rapper…but dude does his thing you cant deny that.

For it 2 be his first single comin out of retirement he could’ve brought more fire to let da hip hop cats know he’s back. It didn’t show me that he was on top of the game with this single its just like they say its Jay Z it will sell. The video to me says I’m above reppin da hood I’m flyin jets, yachts, and go all over the world bigger than the rest of ya.

I like the video, the direction is great and it really brings out the song. The Deja-Vuesque dancing was very interesting and I like the scenes on the ocean.
I will have to say Danika Patrick, Dale Earnheart Jr. and the whole drag racing scene sprinkled the wack juice on the video. He should have left those two on the cutting room floor.

My point in writing all them paragraphs was to say jayz considers himself the best rapper alive, and all i was asking was why?!!!!!!!!!!!!! His lyrics are extremely mediocre, he DON’T have the best flow among all the rappers, hell, there are some new rappers that would kill this nigga in a rap off! All i want to know is why???? Cause he said he’s the best! And frankly, i get sick of hearing him brag about himself cause it is is mind-washing bullcrap.
extremely mediocre lyrics????he dont have the best flow???? >>>>>are u sure that u are referring to JAY-Z aka SHAWN CARTER aka SIR HOVA from brooklyn????i dont think thast u listen to jay at all and u wouldnt know if he is the best because u scared to listen!!!!
sick of hearing about him bragging about himself????
again,do u listen to rap?mcs brag all the time with obviously very few exceptions.anyway the only people who are complaining are the very same people who were saying shit about change clothes back in 2003 and excuse me miss in 2002.jay dont live in marcy anymore and isnt gonna make too much ignorant music.singles such as these are meant for the radio,if your record dont get enough airplay(best “form” of promo u can ever hope to get) u simply aint gonna sell and whether u like it or not hiphop has always been a business and that wont change!
also every artist has to promote themselves!its not like llcool j dindnt have a video out,its just that people are simply not checking for him and u cant blame that on jay-z!his video was all over video channels, internet etc.as far as im concerned i havent seen any defjam-paid promo about jigga’s album so far!all the publications are are doing the promo for him and no one wants to hear shit about llcoolj.
im also glad that dmx decided to leave defjam for sony because all u haters would be blaming jay right now for dmx’s recent flop.that dude was all over tv and people knew that his album was comming out but he still flopped!

at least now i can back up my point that lyrically
that nigga jigga aint saying shit
there are 100 more ways he can give back to his people other than making generic music to make money
shit i give back and its not monetary
i work with kids on MY OWN FREE TIME
mentoring, tutoring, setting a positive example
everything aint about damn money all the time
if i could have a career doing what i love to do and make way less money than i do now
I WOULD DO IT IN HEARTBEAT
if he loves hip hop that much money shouldnt dictate his goals in life

@ #4 MsMac1, I agree Jay Z is all about himself. That’s why him and Bey make such a good couple. Lyrically, Jay Z ain’t all that. Not saying he is a bad rapper but he ain’t good either. Think about it, where was he when Pac was here? hmmmmmmm Somewhere hiding behind a rock wishing Pac would never mention his name in his songs again. OK I got a little off topic here but anyway like I said earlier Jay Z is all about himself. But he will realize one day that when you are that way you won’t get too far in life. If God bought you up, he sure can bring you back down just so you can humble yourself.

Espically when someone like is just doing to good. “the old Jay” my ass! that nigga don’t wear no damn jersey’s, he ain’t chasin’ no bitches. He chills with prince charles and koffi Annan. Sorry last one but sometimes my people amaze me. Americans mad ‘casue not only is he respected worldwide, but he also gets to go back to ther motherland and then has a street named after him when he gets there in one of the biggest cities in Africa (it’s true it is a continent. I looked it up-it’s a bunch of countries-they got 54 of them shits). Africans are mad that some rappin’ ex-crack dealer is doing more for their country/continent then they can do for they damn selves. Don’t get mad at us ’cause the only good thing to come out of Africa on tv, is black people, Akon, and Angelina’s Baby girls. People critize the man for basically doing good and giving back and still making a hot video with no damn “pull a muscle or u ain’t doin’ it right dances” y’all are some hatin’ ass niggaz. Most y’all consider college in the next state travelin’ so u ain’t ever gonna got to Monaco (unless u puff or 50,outkast or pharell) or get to go private parties and secret locations erego you should be happy that someone that looks like you and you can relate to (at least physically you broke-ass niggaz) is doing these big things. To me as a young black male that says to me subconciously. That yes it can be done. Maybe not racing boats with fine bitches in the south of france but at least doing better than what most people expect of me. That’s all he’s saying in his raps u know I did me now get off my dick and do u

Song is mediocre at best, but it will grow on me. The video has a very grown and sexy feel to it.
It once again proves that he is on a level all by himself. The other rappers are okay but he is the one.
To them:
“Yeah you shinin but the only thing you’re leavin out you’re a candle in the sun - that shit don’t even out”

but I do like the video…..it enhances the song & make it sound betta, which is what a video is supposed to do. Jay is still played out to me …… I watched that Fade to Black crap and JAY Z really ain’t orginal at all, a lot of what he did at that show in NY & his tracks/concepts of his songs came from KANYE. The popular lyrics from other songs & previous albulms were clones of BIGGIE and i wonder where he got the “inspiration” for this albulm from?
hmmm……next please……will the real hip hop artists please stand, so this fool can sit down

Id like Jscene , Nix or Foxxy to tell me who the best rapper alive is?
And by the way Pac wasnt no lyricist , he could rap but he aint had no killa wordplay…his shit was tight cuz of how he said it and what he said (social commentary).
He’s not better than jigga lyrically, Pac’s music was delivered well ..he has that type voice that makes u stop and listen cuz he was passionate but his words were very simplistic.

YOU’VE BEEN HOODWINKED, YOU’VE BEEN HAD, YOU’VE BEEN TOOK, YOU’VE BEEN LED ASTRAY, LED AMOK, YOU BEEN BAMBOOZLED! (MALCOLM X)
OMG, I can’t believe this shit. What has happened to this dude? Somebody put a pin in his head? Bring back down. I have never thought of Jay as the GREATEST but I think of him as BETTER, better than what’s on the radio. Now, I can’t even get my thoughts together on this. I’m SHOCKED! This is no more than a mediocre piece of shit that will blend right in with everything else. Don’t blame Beyonce people. This man is responsible for his own crap. Jay-z is the EPITOME of what happens when you believe in the hype. Is it so crazy to HUMBLE? Or to have money and still have substantial music? Is That hard to do?
I’m not asking Jay to write raps about the hood, but when it seems that the world has put your ass on a pedestal, you could at least DELIVER. If this dude was a new rapper he wouldn’t be any better than T.I–he’s a joke, or lil’ Wayne or even Young joc–an even funnier joke, but just another bullshit rapper. Hell I would compare his ass to NELLY! Jay is hilarious, and a bit DELIRIOUS. THINK people Think! This is the monster y’all have created.
I have come to the conclusion, that maybe Jay-z was never the BEST and always MEDIOCRE. We needed a change, and he was a breath of fresh air. Now that he’s up there those TRUE fans are really watching his skills and are noticing that this is a piece of shit rapper. Really, he hasn’t been about anything since REASONABLE DOUBT. The last two albulms he made were WACK! What the fuck is he on? Or is it us? Well, Y’all not me. You folks are dedicated fans to both music and Jay-z if you think this “HOTT.”
MAYBE the majority of you who claim that Jay and the DAMN song is so hot are just hanging on to the OLD-OLD Jay-z. . . . .that probably never was?
Success can kill anything and anyone. Look at Jay-z as an example. He’s a product that was never really worked but it was better than everything else on the mainstream market. Put it back people. Be a sophisticated consumer. Don’t buy everything cuz everyone is talking about it. PEACE

jay came out as a solo artist in late 95 with in my lifetime(the song).his first album was released in june 1996,pac died in september 1996!!jay’s biggest crossover was hardknocklife and it became huge not because some ” fake comic book character” rappers died!!!!get it?even if your dead clowns were alive jay will still be this big!!jay in 96=owner of rocafella records, pac in 96=suge’s slave.btw:jay-z>pac follow jay-z on the “water for life tour” at mtv

How do you measure “greatest rapper”? Money? Record sales? Longevity? Awards? He would probably has a good case. Or do you want to use something subjective? Opinion based where you get and anyone who thinks like you gets to pick? By any measurable standard J has a legitamate claim in saying he is the best ever.
And tell me this…why do people who engage in a transaction think either party owes you anything additional than the implied agreement? I go to McDonalds, I give them $1 and they give me a cheeseburger. Or business is done! If you buy a Jay Z album, a movie ticket, a ticket to a basketball game, once you receive your merchandise (the disc or entry) the transaction is complete. You do not owe them an extra $5 if it is better than you thought it would be and they owe you nothing further. That’s life. If they chose to give you more it is nice but it is not owed.
