VIDEO: RICH BOY, “THROW SOME D’S”

Tuesday, October 24, 2006

I posted this song before and the majority of people here didn’t like it, but for those who did (my folks from the South!), Rich Boy has released a video for his new single, “Throw Some D’s.” The video features the song’s producer, Polow Da Don as well as singer/songwriter, Keri Hilson. Good to see my Atlanta people doing their thing!

I hate to say this but…OK no I don’t…this shit is WACK! Rich Boy should change his name to Retarded Boy cause that’s how he looks.

I like Polow’s flow.

DAMN, Fuck da Cadillac Nigga needs to buy a face left. How old is this sumamabitch that his hairline is receeding already. I like the song, video is nothing special. Its very low budget, i could have directed a much better video on my SideKick. Keri is looking fly as ever, i love her style and i hop she makes it wenever she decides to come out with an album.

mika, polow’s latest productions include “blindfold me” by kelis, ciara’s new single, “promise,” “buttons” by the pussycat dolls, “london bridge” and “glamorous” by fergie. there are others, but those may be the ones you know already!

I saw this video debut on 106&Park, and they said that this guy is from Alabama. I’m from Alabama too, and there are lots of good rappers here. I’m just trying to figure out why they chose this one!! No wonder people think that we’re all ignorant and backward down here. This guy is lame as hell, has no flow and no point, and, worse of all, he has a damn 90’s haircut!!!!! *SMH*

I like the sound of the song but he’s not talking about anything so…whatever. Is it just me or does he look like a black version of “Timmeh!” from South Park?

I don’t give a damn what people think…..this song is hott! Better than that chicken noodle crap, especially the Papoose remix to it.

I thought Rich Boy was from Alabama?

Another unoriginal rap song. Agree @ #12. It’s like when there is an accident on the news and they try to find the most ignorant black person to describe what happened. Its the image the media is trying to promote and sadly in rap today this is what a majority of them want to hear.

I came across this video this weekend and after watching it, I was extremely sad. It’s the epitome of ignorance. Maybe I’m getting old…but I can’t listen to or watch crap like that anymore.

I agree @ # 12. Rim shops and cadillac dealerships will never go out of business the way rap music keeps giving them free advertising - worst of all its aimed our young impressionable youth that have goals of throwing some “D’s” up on a car (never heard that term until watching this video) rather than more important things. Guess I’m getting too old to appreciate this type of music too. As you get older you know better.

I’m from Atlanta and trust me, I feel your pain. It seems like folks up top always shine a light on the dumbest folks from the south and then try to make it seem like we are all like that. Homeboy is absolutely awful, really.

What rap songs are talking about much of shit these days??? All the hits deal with hoes, cars, and money over (usually) a really catchy beat. I like the song. NO, the lyrics aren’t profound, and he is rapping about “the same shit” as everybody else BUT….so what???

Tuesday, October 24, 2006 /

South is on fire??? LOL! That’s all that matters right? Making paper? That’s why the majority of the southern rappers are fucking garbage…because of that mentality. You’re quoting Young Buck??? He said that shit because the south CAN’T be lyrical. I like G-Unit but he sucks ass.

I fucks with Weezy, Luda, Jeezy, Scarface, and T.I. The rest of them down south niggas are WACK!

38.

Tuesday, October 24, 2006 /

@ #12 & #22, I am watching the video and thinking the same thing. What people from the South sent her this video? They have alot of “good” rappers in the South that don’t get no shine on the mainstream what so ever. They stay putting out all this bull$hit making us look bad. I’m f^n sick of it! Now I am about to get bucked b/c this $hit don’t make no sense. I ain’t trying to knock Rich Boy hustle with his ugly a$$ but there are way better artist than him down here that only us in the South know about. They are the ones that need to be on mainstream so people like D4L, Young Jock, Mike Jones, Lil Flip can sit their a$$es down somewhere.

39.

Leave it to females to grade a song by how the dude looks. Now everybody has different tastes so if it’s wack to you then so be it, but half of yall would love the song if you didn’t think dude looked like a monster. Hip-Hop is in a bad state and supporting artist on look’s and not talent is fa damn sho helping the situation.

42.

Tammy

Tuesday, October 24, 2006 /

I wouldn’t go as far as comparing this song to chicken noodle soup, I don’t personally like it but you are correct it’s for kids and to me it would be like comparing this song to old mcdonald, it might be annoying like nails on a chalkboard but it’s not sexually suggestive or perpetuates violence so if my nieces wanna do the dance by all means go ahead. What are these rappers supposed to rap about you ask? Anything other than this repetitive nonsense, stick a fork in it, it’s done! If you like it, well that’s you but you can’t blame other people for wanting more, wanting something of substance. All “Timmeh” jokes aside, he could be the ugliest dog faced person on the planet if his rhymes were “tight” people would not even be having the discussion of “is he wack or not…?”. I’ve noticed a lot of people saying that they give up on hip hop and seriously if people have to go back to listening to old skool rap to find lyrical fulfillment then you know something is severely wrong.

#37 Mika said “He said that shit because the south CAN’T be lyrical.”

But then you go on to mention the southern artists that you do like. What do you mean by that comment…?
Im a tad bit offended. Sounds like you’re just generalizing everyone in the south and THAT is ignorant.

Anywayz… I like the song. Nice Beat. He does have that throwback haircut though lol. Dont understand where the white chicks came from– they’re kinda random but whatever.

#59 I don’t mean to offend you. I’m just voicing my opinion.

I feel that the majority of southern rappers are garbage and they suck lyrically…so they CAN’T be lyrical…with the exception of the ones I named.

Not saying that all rappers from up top are hot…it’s just that I constantly hear bullshit from down south.

Anyhoo, I’m from Alabama (Bham to be exact) and I kinda dig the beat and thanks #50, I knew it sounded familiar. Hella creative, but sampling nontheless.
This song would get major airplay down here. Dude is wack lyrically, but the beat is addictive IMO.

I mean, how many candy paint,
TVs/XBoxs everywhere,
26+ inch rims,
bucket seats,
trunk bumpin
naked freaks in the backseat
songs CAN BE MADE!!!!???

Dayum.

If he was actually talking about something, it could possibly be a regional hit, but the lackluster lyrical content plus the fact he ugly and he look broke….nah aint gonna happen.

All I can see is his big old forehead, lol. But I’m from the A and this guy’s song comes on every 10 minutes during Greg Street. But my sister and I love to play the name brand game and count how many times a poor rapper from the hood mentions the names of rich white folks companies, therefore putting money in their pocket from free advertising. It’s hilarious to see how poor people like Rich Boy are losing every time just when their chorus comes on.

But anyway, what song is that in the beginning that is sampled?
