I think that the issue people may have is that in Hollywood, there aren’t many Hispanic or Black actors(actually getting work) so when someone from those cultures has success, people feel proud and want to identify with them. People want to see themselves mirrored on television/big screen. It’s hard to identify and feel proud that you are being represented on television when the actor(-tress) doesn’t want to “label” themselves. Also, just to clear up something: I DO believe that one’s race AND ethnicity AND Nationality (they are all different things) play a huge roll in a person’s make-up, so I can understand NOT wanting to leave out an integral part of who they are….BUT when you start skewing away from questions and making up fanciful, dumbass words for your self-definition that scream “I have identity issues”, and you end up offending at least one, if not ALL of wat makes you you!
