According to TMZ, Chris Rock has begun divorce proceedings against his wife of nearly 10 years, Malaak Compton-Rock. Word is he has hired a high-powered divorce attorney to represent him.
The couple, married in November of 1996, has two daughters — 4 year-old Lola and 2 year-old Zahra.

The problem is, When you have a marriage in Hollywood, you have to be FOCUSED. Because as a celeb you have access to too much stuff for free. Women, cars, jewerly, women, fame. Doing movies is just a job and then they go home. Bernie Mac, lives out here somewhere in chicago. I heard he wants a simple life, he flys to cali, does what he has to do and then goes home.

The problem as I see it is that alot of celebrities in their hearts are just regular people. They end up marrying spouses that are attracted to the “lifestyle”. The cars, the money, etc. Chris’s wife from the jump was a Hollywood wife. If you had the chance to meet her there is not a humble bone in her body. Chris is her total opposite, a total down to earth guy. These celebrity men need to start finding women who would have talked to them BEFORE they were who they are today and then maybe they might find a soulmate or at least a marriage that would last more than 10 years. Props to him for not wanting to remain unhappy. She’ll probably get a nice chunk of change but at least he’s got his sanity.

While I believe that marriage should not be entered into lightly and that vows should be taken seriously, we have to rememeber that one CANNOT make a marriage work by him/herself. It does take TWO We have no idea what they went through as a couple. And people can change over time. I don’t think anyone should stay in an unhappy marriage. I wish them both the best.
