Here are some new shots of Ciara in the December issue of Giant Magazine. I’m really digging the black & white photos that David Ferrua took. Dope stuff. Even though some of these pictures are very Aaliyah-esque (as is everything else she does), you can’t deny that she HAS stepped her game up.

Twenty-one-year-old Ciara Princess Harris wasn’t even born when the video clip for Michael Jackson’s classic “Beat It” first kicked in the doors of MTV like Martin Luther King, Jr.’s soulful dream. But that hasn’t stopped the upstart singer from accepting the King of Pop as a personal icon.
“I am pretty sure any new artist you talk to will say they’re inspired by Michael Jackson,” Ciara gushes. Sitting in the semi-darkness of an SUV, zooming toward the Big E Fairgrounds in Springfield, Massachusetts, her voice is as breathy as the night air. “There was something about his passion and energy. The impact he made on music is truly amazing. When I see him performing on video, well, as an artist, he’s special to me.”

I know Ciara almost sounds like Aaliyah sometimes, but i must say that as much as i ADORE and LOVE Aaliyah, Ciara is a better dancer. out of the two, Aaliyah sounded better compared to CC.. and Aaliyah danced and made every young person felt like they could dance cuz she made it looked so easy… whereas Ciara dances with great power..almost like a guy!!

first of all no diss or anything but I think she’s trying to be like alliyah janet r. kelly and especially beyonce in that video but I liked it an ddidnt care because she got a lot of flavor Im just tired of every one trying to be like beyonce with that walk dence she did in the pink pather video and the fact that first reyonna how ever you speel her name had on the some outfit of beyonce with that white shirt blue shorts or jeans and red pumps and then you see ciara with that, I notice alot of stuff like that becuase one day I would like to be a singer so I keep up wiht alot that goes on in videos or just lyrics.

I think these photos are really beautiful. Aaliyah, i mean Cici, is really stepping her game up…she’s maturing into a beatiful young woman. she doesn’t look like a kid anymore with her dance moves, they are sexy…mature.
but on the real, ya’ll can’t tell me that if you NEVER EVER thought CICI was jocking aaliyah before she is doing it in these photos. but when i say JOCKING i dont mean it in a bad term. i dont mean it like one day ciara went home and watched every aaliyah video and then decided to copy them, but she herself has admitted that AALIYAH and JANET are her two biggest FEMALE influences and you can see it in her work. Although new artists could never OUTSHINE the greats, we should be encouraging them to be better and then we want the next generation to be better than today’s stars. How much would it suck if everybody was just doing the exact same thing over and over. Look to the greats for inspiration..take what they did, remix it..and pass it on. and that’s exactly what cici is doing

I’ve heard Ciara mention several times that she looked up to Aaliyah and admired her, so if she is trying to emulate her in some way, I say it is a fitting tribute. I actually think Aaliyah would be proud. Ciara seems to be an honorable young lady with her head on straight, so more power to her!
I loved Aaliyah, but for goodness sakes, I can’t see any resemblance between her and Ciara for the life of me. It seems that any young, black R&B singer who rocks long, straight hair and happens to be brighter skinned will be compared to Aaliyah (RIP).
I can see a comparison to Janet Jackson just cause their styles are so similar (dancing, vocals, etc.), but Aaliyah? Nah. If Ciara keeps it up, though, she has a long career ahead of her because someone who can ENTERTAIN you will go further than someone who can sort of sing, but has a boring stage presence any day.
