Ed Bradley, the award-winning “60 Minutes” correspondent who grew up in the tough streets of Philadelphia, was wounded while covering the Vietnam War and later became CBS’s first black White House correspondent, died Thursday. He was 65.
Bradley died of leukemia at Mount Sinai, CBS News announced.
Bradley joined “60 Minutes” in 1981, 10 years after he started with the network as a stringer in Paris.
Bradley grew up in a tough section of Philadelphia, where he once recalled that his parents worked 20-hour days at two jobs apiece. “I was told, `You can be anything you want, kid,’” he once told an interviewer. “When you hear that often enough, you believe it.” [READ MORE]
Wow! I didn’t even know he was sick. I loved his pieces on 60 Minutes. Especially that time he interviewed Muhammad Ali, and Ali played a trick on him. lol!
Rest In Peace.

@9- Yeah. He was gay. Don’t you know EVERYFUCKIN’BODY is gay? Grow up or grow a brain or just grow. Who the hell are you? Wendy Williams?
People, this man is a legend. He was a great reporter and he always told it like it was. He never tried to hype up a story, he was just stuck to the facts. He should be remembered for all his good works, and until someone has proof his name should not be thrown around in the mud. God bless him, his family, and his contributions to journalism.
HAVE ANY OF YALL EVER SEEN THIS??

Sadness. He will be missed.
Very handsome man
RIP
God bless his soul and god bless his family. We’ve truly lost an icon who proves that we can be and do what we want as long as we keep on pushin’.
Ed Bradley was a real brother that carried himself with much respect and dignity! He will be missed!!!
rip Ed…will miss you on 60 min. and your contribution to journalism.
#63 never saw that video. Got mad a first but had to calm down and LISTEN to what he’s saying.
Ed’s home. I’m sure he’s praying for us on this hell hole we call Earth.
i herd he go tit fromg etting that earring……
r.i.p
Ed was the voice of reason at 60 Minutes, with a style all of his own. He was even wounded while reporting in VietNam, and keep going. Just tremendous soul. RIP
#9 no he wasn’t gay…he was married to a nice lady named Patricia for many years.
I saw Mr. Bradley while I was visiting a cafe in Manhattan about 2 years ago. I guess he could see the “star struckness”(is strukness a word? well it is now) in my eyes when I saw him. He smiled at me a spoke and went on about his business. I appreciated his small gesture by acknowledging me. He was an excellent journalist, ground breaker and just a good person. He’ll be missed.
@ kmniles…
I was pretty mad at first but he has a VERY valid point.
Wow, rest in peace
This was one sexy man….More than the fact he was handsome was the fact he played the game on his own terms. He was so prolific and professional the industry could not dictate to him on how a traditional journalist should look sans beard and earrings.
Break out the kleenex for his 60 minute tribute.
RIP another lst great
damn can beleive he died
I big loss. He was a phenominal journalist. RIP
r.i.p and no he wasnt gay!! damn if ever man that wore an earring was gay then shih everybody wude be making booty butter lol
he got the interviews that noone else cude and he treated everyone that he interviewed witht he same respect, thats wuh ill remember about him, mi mum sed she thought he looked a bit sickly toward the end…i never noticed….
it’s funny that more peeps will post about raven’s winter boots than a beloved journalist….. actually it’s sad….
Yeah, its a sad event. RIP
Rest in peace, Ed Bradley
Thanks for posting this Angel.
I’m a lerker, so I don’t post at all (this is my first post). But here is something that I noticed.
Ed Bradley dies, a black journalist who has accomplished so much, extremely intelligent and there’s about 85 some-odd posts.
However, when there’s blog about lil wayne and bird man kissing or “who wore it better: beyonce or ?” there’s over 200 posts!
This doesn’t really look to good on our part people. It shows that we are more concerned about popstars than important leader who actually make a difference. My whole point is that we have to be aware of ALL of our black people, watch the news! Read a newspaper!
I thank Angel LA for posting this because many other blogs did not!
R.I.P
the earring (afro & beard) was REVOLUTIONARY. it was his nod to all of us that he was doing the damn thing on his terms. it breaks my heart that yet another icon has passed and foolishness (is he gay? what’s beyonce singing about in this song?) persists. this is not a good look, people. i’m really starting to understand why the bill cosby set (65+) is so disgusted with young people.

So true… who gives a damn whether he was gay, straight or whatever?
RIP
Easy Ed as he was sometime called was an awesome journalist. I was flicking channels a few months back and wondered about Mr. Bradley as I had not seen him in a while. Lo and Behold yesterday reading TMZ I saw the announcement of Ed’s death. I was so shocked because I didn’t even know he was ill. He appeared to have led his life with such grace and dignity and I assumed he passed the same way. Goodbye Mr. Bradley may your soul rest in peace. Peace and Blessings to his family and friends. Such a nice looking gentlemen.
Last of a dying breed of a great journalist..and great black man.
aww RIP
Ed Bradley was one of the smoothest journalist in the media. Not only was he an American icon, but he
was a presence known internationally. On 60 minuites, he always displayed a sort of regal aura about him. He was like the Captain of a vessel, and exuded a coolness about him. He always interviewed the headline charectors, wether it was Timothy Mc veigh, Mahamed Ali, or even Lena Horne. He was 60 min., and I will miss seeing him on the show. Plus, he was from Philly. R.I.P. Ed Bradley.
Another Great Legend gone
I loved his interview with Aretha Franklin
God Bless the Bradley family
@84 & 86 I totally agree.
“But be not afraid of greatness:
some are born great,
some achieve greatness
and some have greatness thrust upon ‘em. “
I always thought he was such a handsome, distinguished and sexy older man. He will be missed.
Not easy to fill up those shoes.Favourite reporter in fovourite show. So sad. Sweden. Joakim
