KRAMER APOLOGIZES ON THE LATE SHOW

Tuesday, November 21, 2006

Michael Richards aka Kramer talked with David Letterman (via satellite) yesterday to try and clean up his now fucked up image. Of course he delivered a weak-ass apology and talked about how he lost his temper or some shit. Sorry homie, your true colors came out that night.

And why is that audience laughing so much? This is far from funny.

APOLOGY NOT ACCEPTED KRAMER…

It’s time to start saving to buy land, buying the stocks of excellent BLACK companies and giving them to our children for Christmas, etc.

I’m telling you: Start acquiring land, start looking into growing food organically or buy into Whole Foods, and get into the energy markets.

That is hard for a lot of us, so start small. Buy only what you need and get yourself a treat every now and then instead of catering to yourself all the time. Start thinking about investing in your neighborhoods and what you can do to make it better. Clean it up and look into getting a group together (who don’t have that crab mentality) and pool together to buy some of those broken down buildings that companies are snapping up for a song to build condos. Who says that a bunch of us can’t band together, without trying to do their “own thing” all the time? Where are you going to get your leverage? TOGETHER.

Some of you need to get with your cousins and start living together instead of living yourself broke tryin’ to have a phat crib to show everybody. Why can’t you live together b/c you have a PLAN where everybody will soon be able to live a nice life and be able to afford it b/c you helped one another?

Start with yourselves, your budgets, your families, and communities: What can I do? What can you do?

If a black comedian said some shit about throwing Jews in an oven it would be a wrap for him or her. The nigger comments is bad enough but the lynch reference took it to a whole other level. He could apologize from now till Rapture. It aint flying bruh. Your career is a done deal.

Even though my hubby said someone should have beat the breaks off his ass, I disagree because i have found myself saying racist things toward other races and one of my best friends is white. It comes to show that when it all boils down people have a tendency to head back to their roots I guess we all have some ignorance in us. I was watching for someone to through chair or bottle at that fool! But, the brothers handled it with dignity! They got up and walked out…just like millions of his fans will now do! Oh yeah, he will start to get bookings at the KKK conventions, confederate gatherings and white only parties, but he has to sell his soul for those groups!

He’s getting old like Bill Cosby and Mel Gibson, so its harder for them to keep $#!T inside of their heads! I just pray that no harm comes to Michael for his stupidity!

I don’t even CONSIDER an apology to be real when made under duress. The Laugh Factory only apologized AFTER complaints, so it was not sincere. Kramer ONLY apologized after Jerry and probably a ton of PR people TOLD him to do so, it was not sincere. Actually Seinfeld, like “Friends” were 2 shows KNOWN not to have many, or no Blacks at all.
Only after both shows received complaints did they hire a token Blk (Aisha Tyler for Friends) and the Blk lawyer for Seinfeld.

#53 your right!

You know why white people aren’t afraid to speak their mind when it comes to race and aren’t concerned w/ being politically correct anymore - BECAUSE BLACK PEOPLE HAVE BECOME AFRAID TO BRING UP RACE!

Somehow we’ve become afraid to call people out on racist behavior and when situations that are clearly have racial implications present themselves we don’t want to speak on them. It’s as if we want to pretend that racism doesn’t exist and everyone is treated equally because it makes us feel better.

Look at some of the comments on this blog. If you bring up race in any topic, people jump on you with clichés like “color doesn’t matter” or “black people are always complaining”. We’ve let the rest of the world convince us that race doesn’t matter and we’ve made ourselves so scared and embarrassed to talk about race that we don’t defend ourselves any more. Perfect example is the term “race card”. We let people use that term to trivialize our legitimate concerns and marginalize us. When is the last time you heard some body say “anti-Semitic card”?

Look at Hurricane Katrina, so many black people were afraid to even discuss the racial implications of that that tragedy. We all new race played a role (indirectly or directly) in that tragedy and how it was handled and reported, but very few people wanted to just say it out right. It’s as if we were scared of being accused of playing the “race card” or something. It takes a comedian’s ignorant tirade for a people to have discussion on race? If you ask me this is nothing. This is one person’s ignorant behavior. What we need to be concerned about are the people in power, who aren’t going to slip up and have their tirades in PUBLIC, do to us behind close doors. And we not to stop being so damn scared to discuss race.

Wake up black people, racism has not gone anywhere. Don’t be afraid to call it like you see it! Lets take the momentum from this incident and move on to something real!

That was no excuse! The media has been calling it a “meltdown” but if it was anyone else they would have said it was a “racial tirade”! His apology was wack. He’s racist! You can tell how he talk…or just really ignorant!

Oh and another thing, I completely co-sign with #87.

Kramer acting a fool onstage isn’t what we need to be concerned about.

There are various forms of racism that’s being played out daily by the “real” people in power.

It’s sad though, it’s like, this is 2006.
Who or what is stagnating us as a people? Why are we so separated?

And yeah, I also agree, that it is hard to discuss race because people’s feelings will get hurt.

But we really do need to discuss it, we need to get to the root of this.

Because by just keeping quiet, small-minded people will just continue to assume ridiculous things about people outside of their race.

I understand what you are saying about white people don’t like black people. But I feel it would be better if you said most or some white people but by saying it the way you did makes it sound like all white people are the same. I understand what you mean that they only tolerate us but again i cant say that for all white people. I mean some black people don’t even like the race they are from you only have to look at what is happening with our race. So I don’t think it is fair to generalise like that.

The Letterman audience was laughing because he looked like the damned fool he is. He was trying to sound convincing and he was a joke. There was nothing sincere about that apology. He is only sorry he was busted for the racist that he is.

Forget being Jews, Jerry Seinfeld, Michael Richards and a whole lot of “white” folks are always talking about they are Jews. They are jut a bunch of white racist trash hiding behind the word Jew. They are no more Jews than anybody else(black or white).

White folks always try to jump on some oppressed bandwagon. You identify with the group you look most like and they are all “plain” ole’ white folks. I am so tired of hearing that Jew “lie.” Jewish is a RELIGION not a race. As soon as a black person says that he/she is Jewish, white folks start looking crazy. As if that’s not possible.I don’t see the problem. Those of Jewish faith in the bible days look like black people, not Jerry Seinfeld or Michael Richards. So who gave white folks the monopoly on the Jewish religion.

Anybody ever notice how everyone else’s American is hyphenated( African- American, Asian- American, etc.) except for the white folks; as if they are the “ONLY” Americans so no hyphen needed? Also, Asia and Africa as we all know are Continents…Jewish is not, neither are Polish, German, Irish, Afro and so on.

These white folks are just white and they always want to be something other than what they are. I’m Pentecostal but do I wear it on my lapel? No. Jewish is not the only religion in existence.

Keith Ellison, a 43-year-old black defense attorney and state representative, was elected to Congress earlier this month. Headlines read, “First Muslim elected to Congress.” What does religion have to do with it? He’s a black Congressman.

(1) The only reason why he appeared on Letterman is because Jerry Seinfeld requested that he do it.

(2) His “50 years ago…” comment disturbed me b/c I would think that he would respect another race’s trials and tribulations since people of his faith (Jewish ppl) we being showered with gasoline just over “50 years ago…”

(3) The only reason that the Laugh Factory invited him back was based on a agreement that he would apologize that night. When he didn’t, he was BANNED, so I give them their props.

(4) He needs to apologize to Blk ppl for the painful, uncalled for epithets that he hurled AND Jewish ppl for the horrible way in which he represented them

(5) Those assholes in the audience were still laughing even once you could CLEARLY tell that things were getting serious, so I dont but that they thought a punch-line was coming (as one Latino comedian commented—he needs to STAY OUT OF IT). They were prob laughing b/c that is what they want to say to Blk ppl themselves.

(6) I am extremely PROUD of my ppl for not gettin’ in his ass. B/c that would have sparked a very unfavorable outcome. But, IT’S ALWAYS A CATCH 22 FOR BLK PPL TO RE-ACT TO A SITUATION OR BE PRO-ACTIVE and kick some ass. b/c it can be debated on which one was appropriate at that time. If they beat his ass, we fall into a stereotype. When they shut it, it seems as though we dont care about our race. CATCH 22

(7) He had the wrong audience there that night. And at the same time, he had the right one b/c some thugs would have beat the LIFE out of him…

(8) The Christian in me wants to forgive him, but this is a battle that I am not going to win anytime soon…it is far too painful to just chew and swallow.

LASTLY:

I HOPE THAT NO ONE TRULY BELIEVES THAT ALL WHT PPL FEEL THIS WAY. B/C THEN YOU WILL CREATE AND LIVE YOUR OWN HELL

I ALWAYS TELL PPL AINT NUTHIN CHANGED AS FAR AS EQUALITY AND RACISM STILL BEING ALIVE AND WELL, BUT TO GENERALIZE MAKES US JUST AS RACIST AS HE IS.

Besides, I’d rather see a deer in the middle of the streets than to have a snake hiding in a bush, if u get what I’m saying.

PS I don’t think the white people in the audience were laughing because they thought anything was funny. They were laughing because they were nervous, didn’t know if it was a joke or not and were confused. There are so many racial things said during comedy skits (including the word “nigger” or “nigga”) that are SUPPOSED to be funny that nobody knows when it’s appropriate to laugh or not anymore.

CNN within the last few days aired a speech by a black professor calling for the extermination of white people.

That’s a hell of a lot more serious than a comedian losing it onstage. And I don’t see any black people getting upset at what this professor said, though surely there must be some.

57….I agree with you.
In my experience, when someone white feels comfortable enough with you, they do bring up the subject of race. They will even go so far to admit when they have issues with other races of people. But in a way they are no different than the rest of the world. In private, everone talks about other races. Even people in black/white relationships.

People try to pretend that they don’t do it but it is

No matter what he said, VIOLENCE would not be the appropriate response.

Think about what some of you are saying.

Free speech is messy and nasty and it hurts, but to threaten to beat someone because of something he said? That’s your pride. Unless it’s ok for whites to beat the crap out of anyone that calls them cracker, I would re-think that strategy.

I’m not wasting time on this fool…God is gonna deal with him like He’s doing with O.J.! To get at the core of racism, we have to rise up like the brothers in attendance at the Comedy show! They told Kramer that his remarks were unnecessry and one by one they walked out! Some whites thought it was funny, but then they started walking out too!

We overcome racist stupidity by maintaining our integrity and dignity! Watch how the Seinfield DVD sales suffer! I won’t be purchasing a copy, but every person who does has to ask themself, am I contributing to the whole flock…because birds of a feather…!

An officer used the word nigger in his squad car without realizing that everyone could hear him over his radio! He was fired and all the officers who hung out with him had to hide their faces in shame, because they were all racist! I will always believe that O.J. got off because Detective Mark Fuhrman lied about using the word nigger! He was a key investigator!

Even though he apologied, there will be serious repercussions! Minister Louis Farrakhan has been giving warnings about Jews all his life! After the apology, Jerry Seinfield and Letterman went right back into their comedy routine just like nothing had happened!

Nobody needs this $#!T at Thanksgiving and Christmas!

How could I POSSIBLY speak for every single Caucausian person on the earth ??

I think that most of the readers here on Concrete Loop realize when someone is trying to make a point.

What we type & write here are OUR personnel OPINIONS..

They are not FACTS cast in stone, but simply observations from one own background of roads traveled, and ones own life experiences.

My friend in college thought that I could give her a “pass” when she used the “n” word around me and I set her str8.

I her these Hispanic dudes (not Afro-Hispanic) calling one another Nigga and I’m like, what happened to “Esse”…it might be racist of me, but I feel extremely violated listening to them say that stupid shit, just like they would feel weird and violated if we went around calling one another Esse (sp?)

Then, I see wht boys in my neighborhood and hear them use the “n” word every other sentence and their blk friends are like”oh, he cool, he gets a pass”

WHO THE FUCK GAVE US THE RIGHT TO TURN WHAT OUR ANCESTORS HAD TO ENDURE AND SHIVERED AT AND TURN IT INTO A POPULARITY CONTEST???

BLACK PEOPLE, WE HAVE NO RIGHT TO GIVE ANYONE A GODDAMN “PASS” TO SAY STUPID SHIT LIKE THAT. J-HO SHUDNT HAVE HAD IT IT “IM REAL”….JIGGA SHOUDNT HAVE HAD IT IN “NIGGA” WHAT….

THE BEST WAY FOR US TO KEEP THE WORD “SACRED” LIKE WE WANT IT TO BE IS TO BAN ITS USAGE UNLESS A SLAVERY LESSON IS BEING TAUGHT….RESPECT STARTS AT HOME

BUT, EVEN IF YOU DONT RESPECT YOURSELF, STILL DEMAND IT FROM OTHERS…SO KRAMER WAS STILL WRONG.

This will all blow over in about two days. Why? Because it is something that was negatively done/said to black people.

They could care less about us. He could have set a black dude on fire on stage and apologized afterwards and it would have been okay in their minds. I really hope that black people stand up about this and voice their anger (but not in a bad way!).

@ #70, 67, 66 and 40 Of course I don’t know Michael Richards and in my opinion he seemed sincere in his apology. He said he was sorry and I believe in forgiveness no matter how hard it is. I don’t go around saying racial epithets but I’ve said some harmful things and have asked forgiveness from people I’ve hurt and vice versa. Maybe we shouldn’t forget but we should forgive like the Bible tells us to do and if Michael Richards messes up again then, we’ll know better. Stop being SO judgemental because I’m sure all of you have hurt someone with words; if not, then you’re a great person and I wish I knew your secret. And to #67; I’m not a dumbass, I’m just as intellegent as you are. I hate the “N” word–I grew up in a White suburb of Boston and I know how hurtful that words is to our people and I don’t take Michael Richard’s words lightly. I was totally disgusted when I saw and heard his horrible display. But he said he was sorry and so I’ll forgive him until I learn that he wasn’t sincere and then I’d probably change my opinion.

BLACK PPL WAKE UP SEE!
USING THE WORD NIGGER IS NEVER APPROPRIATE.
WHEN A WhiTE PERSON SAYS IT , IT IS WRONG!
WHEN A BLACK PERSON SAYS IT, IT IS STILL WRONG!

If we got on rappers asses for using the word Nigger, like Kramer did it would help to combat peoples racist’s attitudes towards black.

We should all call out ppl when they say the N word, friends, family, whoever. Heck even my self when it slips.

You are right…Caucasians only “tolerate” us (African Americans) b/c well, its the right thing to do. In reality, what this Richards person is saying is what they all say when we are not around. The question is are we going to put up with this? I’ve called the networks and voiced my opinion, but we all need to make sure this doesn’t just go away.

I was listening to a radio show out here in L.A. and one of the callers said she didn’t know why it was a big deal b/c “blacks use it all the time so why can’t they?” We need to stop using the “N word” as a term of endearment. It’s not cool people…

Sorry posted too soon….People try to pretend they don’t do it but it is infused in us as a society. It is so sad that America has cursed itself on race relations. This is the greatest country to live and work in when you look at the way other people live in other countries….look at the East of Europe. Poverty there and mostly white people. Look at Africa…poverty still all over. America could be so great in the world and be the best example but we just can’t get past the Black/White issue. We live so much better than other people in other countries but the race thing really holds us all back!

Get enlightened! That’s the best way to overcome this issue. Can’t stop people from being racist…just have to be smarter than they are.

And the race issue won’t get any better with Black/White relationships because I have seen more white women having kids with Black men but they still don’t want to acknowledge the Black side of their children. Until Black and White people enlighten themselves on the oposite race, we will never reach equality in this country.

As long as white women having biracial kids continue to say that mixed babies are the cutest and not saying that all babies are beautiful, we will continue the devision.

As long as black women look to white men and bash all black men and desire to have mixed babies because they “believe” they will have “good hair”, we will never progress as a society.

Wake up people and look around. America is a great place but it is not all that when we have race issues hanging over us like a storm cloud.

I do believe that the N word needs to be band in the black comunity too. If black people don’t accept it from others saying it then why do black people use it so much. It is just not a good word no matter who says it.

Put the N word to rest. It was bad in the past and it is bad today.

I’m sure white people are sitting at home…talking amongst themselves…in private…scratching their head….going….duh….I don’t know why they are all upset….They say it to each other all the time.

He got caught, but the question is now what are we going to do about it? I’ve already called the networks to voice my opinion. We all have to take a stand, and also we must stop using the word as a term of endearment. Because Caucasians think it is okay to use the word b/c they hear us use it in our dialouge, songs, movies etc…

I don’t buy the argument that what we say to each other has any basis on what other people say to us. Everything has context. I don’t think it’s necessarily the best way to refer to ourselves either, but there is certainly some argument that we have taken the word’s meaning and changed it by the way we use it with each other. White people damn well know it has another context when they use it and the Kramer tape is evidence of that. It’s one thing to say “What up, my nigga” in greeting and quite another for an angry white man to use the term to refer to black men who are heckling him in a public place. And especially when you’ve already suggested those black men should have been hung on trees for fucking with you. Every word has it’s use in context…”What the fuck?” and “Can we fuck?” mean two different things but they are the same word.
Whether or not we should say the word is debatable. Whether white folks should say it to us….is not.

Of course now he would apologize after it’s all over the fukkin news!!! Now is the time to rise young black ppl and let America know were serious and not taking ne more of their B.S.–Write letters, make appearences, have them to shut that comedy place down, let the shit be televized! If you don’t stand for nothing you’ll fall for anything.

His true colors came out that time and no one was surprized (except maybe a few white ppl that he would say it so blunt) but most were shocked that he would even say it in this time and age…Believe it or not that is what most whites think of us…I don’t care how down you are with a YT person…soon as you blink your eye is as soon as they turn on you and call you the N’ word.

I just pray that no strapping young buck comes across the rascist and nothing intervenes…

Too #133 MISSTEE2U; Thanks, what a wonderful and thoughtful comment; you hit the nail on the head. Great post!! I don’t think many White people understand this. I had the same conversation with a White person a few weeks ago after he said “nigga” in my presence. He said he didn’t use the word to offend and that he hears Black people use it all the time. A lot of White people are clueless to what it’s like to be a “minority” in the US. A lot of people in my opinion are not “racist” but are very, very “ignorant” regarding racial issues. They just don’t understand. Also, I love your “what the fuck” and “can we fuck” analogy. My fear is that in a hundred years people will still be blogging on this subject. And that will be so damn sad.

Um.

Okay, I heard, read, and eveen watched both sides to this story and to be quite honest, we as black people need to REALLY pay attention to how we are blatantly contridicting ourselves.

When black people get on stage and heckle white people in an audience, we laugh. I have been at comedy shows where black people have been incredibly hateful to white people and we sit up there and carry on with the good times.

Yes, he was drunk. Yes, he was an ass but … so are we. We ALL have our opinions about other races and even do the same to gay people.

I think that the Black Race should BOYCOTT all NON Black Products & Content on BLACK FRDAY, November 24, 2006!!!

The way to protest in 2006 is to have a ECONOMIC BOYCOTT of Products & CONTENT produced by NON BLACKS.

ONE of Our Black Leader(s) (Barack Obama, Floyd Flake, Jesse Jackson Jr) should make an announcement that in light of the Racist Statement made By Michael Richards, and the Racist Overtones that ABC Network is making by looking to produce a TV Show with a “Hip Hop Family” (what a horrible stereotype), that the Black Race has chosen BLACK FRIDAY, November 24,2006
To BOYCOTT Non Black Businesses !!

Blacks should decide to take ONE DAY and NOT purchase products from non blacks !

We can march & protest until we’re blue in the face…
Marching & Protesting doesn’t faze non blacks…They are laughing beyond our backs !!

The only TRUE way to protest and make a DENT is to have an ECONOMIC BOYCOTT of any product made by NON BLACKS
