Just viewed the video on YouTube. It was worse than I thought. The trouble with us as black people is that something like this has to happen to remind us how we perceived in this world. No matter where about in the world we live most of us have experienced some form of racism. The trouble is we should have been a stronger race years ago we should be in a position where the next generation would only have known about racism from history books. (maybe a this sounds a bit far from reality). The thing is once this blows over we go back to our normal lives until something else happens. I am all for black people working together and strengthening our race but from my experience SOME of us are all for ourselves, so we have two fights on hands racism from white people and no unity between us.

Reverend Dr. Floyd Harold Flake (born January 30, 1945 in Los Angeles) is an American politician (Democrat) and former member of the House of Representatives, as well as the senior pastor of the 23,000 member Allen African Methodist Episcopal Church in Jamaica, Queens, New York.

Michael Richards spoke what he believed at the comedy club. You either have those views or you dont. Now everyone does have prejudices of some sort. This is a prime example of why we, as a people, need to STOP using that word. Hey everyone! I just had to comment… I’ve been following the aftermath of M. Richard’s tirade since it occured.

First off, I am a white male and, I was horrified, beyond belief when I heard about what happened and, subsequently watched the video. When I watched the footage, I was desperately hoping it had been blown out of proportion (because, I have been a long time fan of Richards’ and, of Seinfeld. He was so likeable on there…) Well, unfortunately, it was 1000 times worse than I’d imagined. I was physically sickened.

Some of my best friends/co-workers are African-American. (a good buddy, Chris, calls me his “N***a” sometimes and, he means it in a brotherly, non-offensive way. Obviously, I would never dream of calling HIM that. I KNOW the difference. It’s the intent behind what you say. White people KNOW the difference between when a black person uses that word and, when someone who’s not black uses it.) I once dated a gorgeous, dark-sknned Brazillian girl… and, some of my favorite musicians (Jimi Hendrix, Phil Lynott, etc.) are or were black.

It really hurt my heart when I read some of the comments on here. Do so many of you really think all white people are that way? Look, the world is beyond crazy. People are cloning things and, mixing animal & human DNA, etc… Everything is out of control and, we are ALL in the same boat. The truth is, unless we work together, we are ALL in serious trouble.

Once, when walking & listening to my cd player, I was confronted by 4 or 5 black guys who started talking to me & about me like I was trash.. “That’s one ugly cracker..” “What are you gonna do about it honkey?”

I was crushed. Me, of all people, being called that kind of stuff. I used to have long hair & was overweight at the time. A cop pulled me over once to make sure I hadn’t stolen MY car.. So, I know how it hurts to be judged (or, mis-judged) based on one’s appearance. It sucks! ..and, it hurts.

Michael Richards, obviously, has some deep issues and, was wrong. At the same time, I can tell you that, as nice and honest a person as I am, I have said some horrible things to people from time to time- when I was frustrated or hurt and, didn’t have a legitimate way to respond, I grabbed what I knew would hurt and, threw it as hard as I could- many times at people I loved the most.

It doesn’t make up for what he said but, NONE of us are perfect.

Richards’ actions, on that day, were so outrageous that I’m not sure he doesn’t have some sort of chemical imbalance, similar to Tourettes Syndrome or something.

My point is (and, this has gotten really long…sorry), the guy F#####d up..MAJOR but, please, don’t respond to his hateful, hurtful comments with MORE hate, directed at all whites. People are much more similar than we are different, I believe…

One last thought: While I do agree M. Richards has some inner demons to expel, I DO, honestly believe that he is crushed. I believed he shocked even himself and, his bumbling apology, to me shows that, he spoke for himself, from his heart (off kilter as his words were) and, I think his outburst (mostly) came from being embarrased & hurt that his show was bombing and his ego was bruised. Again, not a justification for what he did. I just hate to see a person thrown away completely over a momentary lapse of reason and, if ever there was cause to plead “temporary insanity,” that was IT.

Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving (even that is pretty screwed up because, we are celebrating people who murdered the native Americans)
