PAUL MOONEY TALKS ABOUT KRAMER
Friday, November 24, 2006
I know these Kramer aka Michael Richards posts are getting old, but Paul Mooney recently went on th Greta Van Susteren show to speak about the whole Kramer debacle..
In related news, Michael Richards has hired damage control specialist, Howard Rubenstein, to try to mend relations with the black community. According to the Associated Press, Rubenstein, has “strong ties to the black community,” whatever that means. Word is he set up calls with Rev. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to apologize (read more at EURWEB)..

He is a goner. Period. This is the most press that Kramer will ever face and for such a negative reason.

^^^ LMAO!!! Wow, that made me laugh out loud for real. On catch a predator? Damn, that’s rough.
I like this video. Paul Mooney truly highlighted the proper way to tell a racist joke. Note, there was no yelling, no finger pointing, no historical references to tortuous acts, just a funny joke.
Richards’ career is over. What does he think apologizing to Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton is going to do? That only shows just how out of touch he is when it comes to Black people. Like they’re our ambassadors or something, or they’re the head of the Black people, and since we all know each other, apologizing to them is like apologizing to all of us. I don’t want his damn apology. I agree with Mooney, I want to see him on the Apollo! And I want him to walk through the audience in order to get to the stage. And I want to see him get punched in the kidney.

i don’t know if his career is completely over… i think ‘people like him’ could possibly bounce back, not with the Black community but with other Americans. Seems like the majority of America soon forgets when racist things happen.
Kramer wasn’t joking tho, he was mad and let out what he was trying to hide but how is it his lawyer or whatever has ties to the Black community? and even tho they do some good and bring some awareness to issues but I am bout tired of Jesse and Al showing up to everything…. the poster above is right, they aren’t the abassadors for Blacks as a whole. sometimes i think they have a need to be noticed… to be the HN’sIC

Kramer, find a hobby and go away quietly. Some things you don’t ‘come back’ from. And this is one of those things.
However, if he wants to make some sizable donations to the NAACP, UNCF, CORE and the Urban League, go right ahead.
But still go away after you write them checks…

SMH @ Kramer for thinking Al and Jesse are the Black representatives. If anything, they are the ones who would give him more of a hard time. If he wanted to take this stupid route of apologizing to the “token” black people, he should at least go to somebody neutral *ahem* like Condoleezza.
He don’t want it with Al “My perm is fiercer than yours” Sharpton!

there is no way in hell he could redeem himself. the bottom line is what paul mooney said, “he outted himself!” which basically means, he’s told his true feelings! so even if he apologizes, it’s not for how he feels, it’s for blurting it out! I could not work alongside someone with whom i knows feels that way about me. It’s going to take some special actors to be able to act with this dumb bastard after this fiasco! He’s a hateful mofo, and i could care less about him from this day forward. There’s nothing he can say to me to make me like him…at the least, i can stop hating him if he apologizes, but like him ever, NOT!
His greatest punishment is going to come from God though. There’s no way you can have God’s favor and have that much hate in your heart for a race of people that God himself created…and that goes for all the other secret prejudices bastards out there that are wondering why there ass are not successful. Yes, satan blesses his children (kramer) with a certain degree of success, but remember satan genuinely loves no one, so at some point he drops the ball on his own children. And when that happens, don’t expect God to come bail you out. Repentance and change in heart is the key, and if you’re not willing to do that, then you are just shit out of luck.

For a second, I thought Mooney would defend him since he knew KKKramer for over 30 years, but he shut him down. I knew that because he was on Fox News, they would try and make excuses for him or whatever. I’m glad he mentioned that everyone knows the Apollo too. I wish I could see KKKramer perform there, so the Sandman can stomp all over his face.

Michael R can keep him fake mea culpas. WE dont want it. Like really, we black folks know that he really feels and that he’s not alone. Many whites feel just like that but arent caught on tape admitting to it. What did blacks ever do to him to garner such hatred? Come on. But hey, it’s really like thank you. Tell us how you really feel. I wish they’d do it more often and then we can say how the hell they get on our nerves half the time.

i agree completly #4, Mooney did tell a racist joke but it was done in a tasteful yet proper way. it wasnt really offensive either, just pure comedy.
kramer on the other hand…. i’m not even feeling him at all. i dont care how many times he apologizes, i still feel that he is very racist and completly meant every word he said on that stage. it was degrading and very hateful, he knows that. he’s just sorry he got caught.
this will definitely hurt his career.

#4(NIBBLET) - I don’t understand why you and Paul Mooney both couldn’t understand why the reporter had to explain to the viewing audience was the Apollo was. Actually, you’ll be amazed with how many non-blacks don’t know what the Apollo is. I was talking to some people at my college one day who are white about the Apollo…and none of them knew what the hell I was talking about. So I understand why she felt the need to explain it.
But I agree with Paul Mooney. The only way Kramer can redeem himself is by going to the Apollo and saying the same shit that he said at that comedy club that night…or he can adopt an African baby. But neither one of those options is gonna happen…so fuck Kramer and his apology. And Kramer is wasting his time with this damage control shit by trying to get in touch with Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. Kramer is smart, because he knew damn well those were the first 2 people who were gonna get in his ass. But I know Jesse and Al are not gonna accept his apology. They better not because Kramer meant everything he said at that comedy club.

i don’t know…. many comics go back to stand up, not becuz their career is over but they have a joy for the stage and a live audience. you see that all the time…that’s a part of the reason i think he could possibly bounce back.. that and the fact that he’s a white man who has a ‘beloved’ character on TV. like i said a lot of American’s tend to forget what that person did when they want to.

I also agree with those of you who say his career is not over. The whites who are commenting on what he said in a negative way are mostly ashamed. But in their heart of hearts, they know that behind closed doors, many (if not most) of them think and/or say the same things.
Paul Mooney didn’t tell a “racist” joke. He told a RACIAL joke. Something can be “racial” as in “about or regarding race”, without being “racist” as in a system of oppression based upon a notion of racial superiority.
I love Paul Mooney. He is intelligent talented.
As to Richards/Kramer, I was only surprised that he totally lost control of himself PUBLICLY. I was not in the least surprised that he is a racist. This is an extremely race-conscious society and many people, some of them your friends, are racist.
It doesn’t matter how “classy” or educated they appear, racism is something that is taught and learned from childhood. I’m an attorney, you would think that co-workers with a doctorate in law would be too intelligent to be racist–but you would be wrong.
I wish that we as black people would live in reality and stop being shocked and appalled when white people show us things about themselves, that we should already know (if we are paying attention).
Oh well, another white male racist in the world, add him to the list and keep building up yourself and your people. Racism isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Especially since our way of dealing with it is to pretend it doesn’t exist, then feign surprise when it manifests. Teach your children the truth so they don’t find themselves unprepared for people who think just like Richards.
If I offended anyone with my somewhat “jaded” response. It was not intentional. Just my perspective. You are, of course, entitled to yours as well. Take care Peace and Love

@#40 I must agree with you. I had a close friend that was a racist and I’m not sure if she even realized it. She would call her niece a mulatto, when we would go shopping and go to the hair products section she would say things like don’t you need to be in the section for coarser hair, when mind you my hair is naturally curly. She assumed that the little girl that I was mentoring came from a bad family because I was her big sister. She is a correction officer and the majority of the inmates were minorities and she would talk about them as though they were animals instead of people. When I saw her highschool year book and saw not one black face I realized where all the ignorance came from but I had to let that friendship go. So yes racism is still very much alive.

that’s really sad, and its even worse when it’s people who pretend to be real holy (”saved” christians, devout muslims, etc.) who know that everyone should be welcomed to the religion and you see them carry their religious book but in their hearts they harbor hate… i mean that for blacks white, whoever…. we can’t ignore racism and be upset for how we’re treated but it’s wrong to actually HATE another race.

Sometimes I think we get too defensive. The word nigger holds too much power over our people. We go off the deep end when we hear that word and I think it’s time we get passed it. I go to my boys Barbershop and I hear the word all day, and I’m not offended. If a white person says it, there’s something wrong with him and I don’t need to have a baby over it.
Today, things are so politically correct about everything and it’s like were going backwards. Today, we couldn’t have shows like Sanford and Son, All In the Family or The Jeffersons because everything is so politically correct. If All In The Family happened today, there would be 100 different groups outside picketing.
I think Kramer needs some help because this has obviously been in him for awhile and he let the Cat out of the bag. Have Jason Alexander or Julia-Louis Dreyfuss said anything?
Also, some people are actually riding Greta for telling her audience where the Apollo is. Believe it or not Greta has audience members who don’t know aout the Appolo and it’s her job to tell them that information so they will understand what Mooney was saying. Reporters do this all the time. They say the Staple Center (In Los Angeles). Come on people stop, we don’t have to accuse every little thing of being rascist. Greta was right on this one.

So I had to drop her ass like a bad habit. I wish I could have laid into her ass without getting arrested. Also its not just white folks that have those kind of thoughts there are some black folks walking around with the same hatred e.g my current roommate. Paul Mooney is hilarious. I think he has been blacklisted by the “mainstream” because of his independent streak. I just don’t see him working for some producers who will try to dictate what he says and how he says it. I’d love for HBO or something to pick him up because anything goes there and they have a reputation for letting you do what you do.
