I know I’m late as hell with posting this, my bad! Jawn Murray e-mailed me this story earlier this week, and it’s funny as hell.
I’m sure all of you know that Brandy is real into ‘The Church of Scientology’. Word is that it was one of the main reasons why Quentin Richardson dumped her. Well it’s also the reason a fight popped off at her bible study class last week. According to Murray:
He got a phone call from a friend informing him of a physical altercation that had jumped off last Wednesday pitting Brandy and her girlfriends against members of First A.M.E. (FAME) Church during a Bible study class.
The singer rolled up to the South L.A. church with her friends after having just come from a Scientology meeting. Brandy and company, who are not members of the church, reportedly began challenging some of the Christian principles taught in the Bible class, including a question about lust.
Suddenly, according to Murray’s source, a fight broke out between her friends and the church folk. Chairs were flying, curse words were being dropped, and Brandy reportedly knocked over some chairs on her way out of the building.
Brandy sit down some where. You know how church folk get down when it comes to the Lord.
If this really happened that is some crazy stuff. How a fight going to break out in church. That sounds like a rumor to me.

That is a hot ass mess if it’s true. I like Brandy, but you don’t do no mess like that, especially @ a black church. Most black church folks are set in their ways on what they believe and if that means beating a bitch down to prove it they will. Brandy that was stupid.

I know Brandy better not be up in no church showing out! LOL! And worse than that, I am surprised to learn of her involvement in Scientology. Brandy, after all that God has done for you…bringing you from McComb, Mississippi(near my hometown) to superstardom at only 14 years old and you go and worship Science? If this is true, then I’m very disappointed!

Heh, not surprised. Don’t put all the blame on Brandy. Hell, just about every black person IN LA knows that this ain’t the first, or the last, time shit will pop off at F.A.M.E. That church has some issues.
However, I do think that this incident points at a much bigger problem: civility and real knowledge of the bible within’ the black church and its constituents. Don’t knock those Scientologists too hard, because one thing they’re taught is how to challenge any other faith by pointing out “holes” in said faith’s belief system. Knowing F.A.M.E. It’s highly likely that Brandy and crew went to that bible study and asked them questions that they should have known how to answer but didn’t…and in frustration they turned to violence. And that’s just sad.
If you don’t know how to defend your faith with words, the best way to admit defeat is through violence.
I thought her father was a minister, I could be wrong. Anyway, she needs to get it together, a church is no place for that type of foolishness. I hope she got hit upside the head with a bottle of anointed oil.
That’s a shame! What happened to respecting the Lord’s house? And why would she go there wanting to question their religion while bible study was going on? How are you going to interrupt someone’s praise? If you have a problem with “Christianity”, that’s you. You shouldn’t interfere with other people who actually believe in it. Erm, and I don’t know about you guys–and maybe this has changed since the last time I went to church–but I thought the POINT of Bible Study was to ask questions? Why is everyone upset that Brandy went there to ask questions? At my family’s home church, Wednesday bible studies had the church members split up into smaller groups with the pastor and his bishops for a more intimate reading of the Word. And questions in this setting were more than welcome.
Heck, the church might be a different entity today if people started asking these guys they put in charge of their faith MORE questions….just sayin’

Not even addressing Brandy (b/c this is just a RUMOR), but Pittboi you have a point. From my experience with going to different services, the thing is there are usually two schools of thought in some churches. You either take the word as gospel or you question the word. A lot of folks don’t like when people question the Bible because it comes off as not haivng faith. On the other hand, some questions have no answers so you are striclty going on faith alone. It just depends on the level of communication that church leader has with their congregation. If he/she is open then there should be no issue with someone who questions the Word. Just depends.
Religion is nothing but legalized “pimping,” and none do it better than the black churches. There is nothing about religion in anyone of the over 100 versions of the bible.
I think you can believe in a God and be spiritual without all the capitalism and discrimination(church-to-church). One would be better off, selecting a bible and studying it yourself, and their are bible dictionaries to assist you.
This way you wouldn’t have to be robbed of your money, or be exposed to so many of these clown who are sleeping with men, women, or both, within their congreagations.

It’s another thing when someone who is a scientologist, that does not even believe in Christianity to interrupt Christians during their bible study, who are eager and willing to gain knowledge about something that they have a passion for learning just b/c you want to start some mess. Jawn Murray and Brandy have had ALOT of BEEF in the past….Jawn is not as credible as you think. He also has a tendency to exaggerate or show a bias to those he doesn’t like. If it wasn’t for Karu holding down Eurweb in Brandy’s corner after they reconciled years ago Brandy would have been treated like the devil if it had been in Jawn’s hands. He has been called out plenty of times for posting false information about her in his column as well as many others. Which is why he’s safely doing the “can’t say names” bit. How & why would anyone enter into someone’s house of worship and disrespect that house or worship???
If we were to believe the posting word, for word, it appears that Ms. Brandy Norwood had intentionally came to FAME (First AME in LA) to disrupt services with unruly questions.
When Jesus went to the temple and saw that the church people had started to use the church as a market place, the bible tells us that Jesus got very angry, and that Jesus started to throw people out of the church.
A lot of people have the strange misconception that since people are Christians and they go to church, there are weak and won’t fight you, or that they won’t defend their faith.
That is such an unfortunate way to think of Christians.
Allow me to relate to you a biblical parable:
Jesus employed a man by the name of Peter.
Peter was known as a Fisherman, who would often curse and do things that most people would consider ungodly.
At one point in Jesus’ ministry, someone attempted to do harm to Jesus Christ. Peter pulled his sword out and cut that man’s ear off. Jesus did not rebuke Peter for doing that. He (Jesus) simply put the soldier’s ear back on his head (Jesus healed the solider who attempted to do harm to him). My point of stating that particular parable is to relate to the readers that Jesus still dealt with Peter even though Peter was very likely of cutting someone…
So, that said, If Ms. Brandy Norwood interrupted FAME’s services in a confrontational manner, then YES she should have been beat up & beat down.
If you come to my church, and tried that, you would get beat up also!
Bible study is a time to ask questions: At my church’s Bible study and MOST bible study’s the Pastor and/or Bishop will open up the floor and answer questions.
The Bible tells us to study to “STUDY to show thyself approval, a workman would is NOT ashamed” and also “to always be ready to answer questions”.
I often debate with Jehovah Witnesses or People of the Islamic Faith, about Christian tenets.
I have NO problem speaking with ANYONE regarding biblical issues. I can defend my faith,
And I WILL defend my faith to DEATH.
Most time, when debating with individuals from other religions, I don’t get into fights because most people understand boundaries, and issues of respect.
As long as you don’t use My Lord’s name in vane, Call me out of my name, or put you hands on me, everything is copacetic.
Most people understand the basic rules of debate.
We usually agree to disagree. As long as you don’t disrespect me, everything is cool.
See….Once you come at a person in a confrontational manner, that person will start to question your sanity, and their own safety.
According to Mr.Jawn Murray’s account, Brandy Norwood was confrontational, and she knocked over chairs on the way out of this service.
It doesn’t sound like she genuinely came to bible study to ask a legitimate question.
In closing, No one would EVER consider walking up in a MOSQUE and questioning a Muslim person faith, Koran & tenets.
Why in the world do you think that a person could walk up in a CHRISTIAN CHURCH in a confrontational manner, and NOT be shown the door, in that same spirit, in which the person came in with?
From reading this story, it appears that Ms. Norwood and her friends were attempting to disrupt services.

He even talked about how Jamie Foster should’ve been harder on Brandy than she was regarding the whole situation and questioned why she still supported her. And let’s not mention the awards ceremony that Brandy was honored at, and Jawn caused ruckus because he claimed that supposedly Jamie had his seat moved because it was too close to Brandy’s.
