RUMOR: BRANDY GETS IN BRAWL AT BIBLE STUDY?
Thursday, November 2, 2006
I know I’m late as hell with posting this, my bad! Jawn Murray e-mailed me this story earlier this week, and it’s funny as hell.
I’m sure all of you know that Brandy is real into ‘The Church of Scientology’. Word is that it was one of the main reasons why Quentin Richardson dumped her. Well it’s also the reason a fight popped off at her bible study class last week. According to Murray:
He got a phone call from a friend informing him of a physical altercation that had jumped off last Wednesday pitting Brandy and her girlfriends against members of First A.M.E. (FAME) Church during a Bible study class.
The singer rolled up to the South L.A. church with her friends after having just come from a Scientology meeting. Brandy and company, who are not members of the church, reportedly began challenging some of the Christian principles taught in the Bible class, including a question about lust.
Suddenly, according to Murray’s source, a fight broke out between her friends and the church folk. Chairs were flying, curse words were being dropped, and Brandy reportedly knocked over some chairs on her way out of the building.

Nah but seriously Brandy is a good person..and yes I have met her…lol but she is a good person and hard working black person in white America and she DOES A LOT for charity and good causes so when people just try and talk shit about her for no reason it’s just sad.

It’s Cool Mark. I forgive you.

Let just agree to disagree, and keep it moving, okay !!
Brandy IS nice..I ALWAYS like Brandy, and I STILL like brandy.
You have to realize how SERIOUS people are about their RELIGION.
Just like if someone walked up in your house and disrespected you wife or Mother, that’s how most people (including myself) feel about our church.
If you came up in my church and disrepectedin in ANY manner, I would cut you, and GLADLY do the time….
I would DIE for Jesus Christ.
I would DIE for the opportunity to defend the Bible.
That’s just how I feel about it.
No beef between me & you Mark
You have a right to your opionion, just like I have a right to mine..
Just don’t show up at my church looking or acting crazy, okay ???

@ Bill, your welcomed bro. I am trying to get my work done as well but I had to comment. You bought up some very interesting points in #52. I was thinking the same thing too…there is a time and place for everything. And this was definitely not the TIME nor the PLACE.
I was reading a couple of posts and it was bought up that the church always get mad if they don’t have an answer to someone’s question. I don’t know about other churches but the churches I have attended in my days never acted like that. If my pastor didn’t know something, he would simply say “I don’t know but I will be more than glad to find out for you.” Give it a rest people. I don’t care what religion you practice. I have enough respect and reverence not to come into your “house of worship” and act the way Brandy, suppposedly, did.

so who is wrong Brandy for questioning a belief or the congregation for attacking physically and verbally one of God’s children for simply asking a question?

@ Meial, I guess I am stubborn in my own little way b/c I still don’t think that is right. God should be enough for you to deal with your past issues and better yourself. As a matter of fact, God dosen’t even look into your past. Once you have repented and accepted him in your life all of your past are forgotten about. And how can you be a Christian and look at scientology to make you into a better person when we (yes i am a Christian if you haven’t figured it out yet
) beleive that all things are possible through God. Which means if you ask in faith, it will be given unto you. I’m sorry. I just don’t get it. But I know if Brandy came in my church with that, I would have politely asked her to step outside with me so we can discuss it and I would’ve dragged her to the street and beat the alien out of her.

My Bishop is the same way !!!
He will answer any and ALL question.
We talk about the hard stuff, Like Should Christian Masturbate (NO), Should Christian watch Pornography (NO), Should Christians participate in Oral Sex with their married partner (YES, because the wedding bed in honorable & undefiled), Should Christian participate in Anal Sex (No, because that is an exit and not an entrance, and it is VERY unhealthy because of the mixing of semen with waste extract, which could QUITE possibly be the cause of AIDS..we really don’t know !!!).
Anyways, my point is this:
MOST pastors will answer ANY & ALL questions pertaining to Religion and sometimes even with their wn personnel life (I heard a person ask CREAFLO DOLLAR why he owns his own PLANE, and Creaflo answered, because I can AFFORD to buy a plane..I LOVE IT !!!).
I don’t know what church most of these posters go to (I honestly don’t think these people don’t go to church at all..That’s why they make such ignorant comments about the church), but at MY church, we can ask our Pastor anything..How much Money did he make last year, how often should you make love to your wife…..
That’s what the church is for..To answer the world’s questions !!
The Church is and should be a beacon light for the world. The world should look to the church for answers.
BUT…You have to come in the right spirit.
If we feel that you are out to hurt us, or disrespect us, we will handle you acccordingly.
Don’t mistake kindness for weakness…
Jesus was kind, but he NEVER was a punk.

I have attended FAME on many occasions as well as the West Angelas Cathedral.
These are two church that have experienced certain “incidents” that have cause Church Security & it’s members to take a “no nonsence” stand in regards to their sanctuary.
The FAME is in the heart of BLOOD Territory (the Blood Gang). It does not suprise me that they gave Brandy a Beat down…
See..You can’t just roll up in a church in a agressive manner or stance, and NOT get beat down (ESPECIALLY a BLACK Church…..The Ushers carry gats, and the Mother’s carry Switchblades..I’m SERIOUS).
At MY Church All of our Security Force has Guns, and so do most of the ushers…Occasionaly a person will attempt to rob one of our members or rape one of our woman, and that person will get dealt with.
Our particular Security Force was TRAINED by the
FOI (Fruit of Islam).
So PLEASE, I beg you, don’t come to MY church and act like you are upset with the pastor..You’ll just be beat up..
Anyways: YOUR question, Mark
Brandy, probably rolled up in there with an attitude & agression, and got beat up…
I’m starting to doubt this story because there would have been a Police report or a report that Brandy or the Church of Sciencetology was suing FAME for assault.
Jann Murray may very well be lying…

If she would’ve come up in my mama’s church wildin out, they would’ve put her on the alter, formed a prayer circle and rebuked them demons. LOL
Its a respect issue, and if this is true she couldve found a better time & place to express her difference in opinion. She has the right to practice Scientology if she chooses, but at the point you’re disrupting services at another church, you’ve got to get a grip.
Why couldn’t those chicks go get a cup of coffee when they left church? sounds like they went lookin for trouble to me.

I don’t believe it. To me this is hype.
But on a side note. Yes bible study is the time to ask questions about something that you may have some confusion about or if it is unclear. BUT There is a difference between a discussion and a debate.
Me personally I don’t debate the word. There is instruction in the bible about that so take it how you want it. The word can stand all by itself there is no need for me to argue it with anyone. If you need help with interpretation there are concordances, dictionaries, and trained ministers, pastors and teachers that you should be able to get a little help on it with.
Just like Bill stated And I concur. Try walking up in a Mosque or a synagogue with a ghetto attitude and rudeness and you will get PUT OUT with the quickness but ppl think Christians are just doormats. i don’t concur the use of voilence when I mean that but hopefully you get my drift.
I will tell anyone in a heartbeat. Please don’t take my meekness for weakness cause I don’t get down like that.
I stumbled upon a scientology job(1st time I’d ever heard of it) back in early 2000 when I was job hunting. I got the job had no idea what scientology was but then i quickly learned and I walked away from it. Let’s just say I witnessed the brainwashing first hand and I’m sorry but they can have that.

Keep in mind that Scientology is a cult that uses brainwashing tactics they refer to as ‘auditing’. So, Brandy may be behaving in a manner that is out of character for her.
If this is true, I suspect Brandy and her crew went to FAME with an attitude of arrogance thinking they have all the answers. Nobody, not even a Christian, likes a heffa with an attitde.
I see a few people on here accuse Christians of being defensive, but they have nothing on Scientologists. They employ slander and baseless lawsuits to attempt to scare people into not criticizing them.
EVERY SCIENTOLOGIST IS SHADY AS HELL, BUT NOT EVERY CHRISTIAN IS. THAT MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE!!!!!

If there’s one thing the story does indicate, it’s that IF Brandy indeed got “ghetto” the church did right along with her, and that’s not right. If Brandy was indeed the one acting a fool then the church should have asked her to leave and called the police if she refused. That would have been the proper way to do things, but leave it to the black church to bring the ways of the world into God’s house.
There’s a difference between defending your faith and being above foolishness, and taking yourself down to the level of foolishness. I think what happened was the latter.
And another thing: since when have debates been disrespectful? Call this for what it is: Brandy’s crew called F.A.M.E. out and they didn’t know how to handle it. And frankly, if you can’t defend your own faith without resorting to violence, then maybe you shouldn’t be running a bible study.
You’re not always going to come across another Christian who just has a friendly question about the Word like,”Oh gee! Jesus really was such a swell guy! lets sit here and talk about how GREAT Jesus was!”. Sometimes you’re going to come across people who have ACTUAL questions about your religion. The serious, hard-hitting questions…and Christian’s need to start being more prepared to answer those, and not get so offended when their bright blue “everyone’s a Christian and believes what I believe” world is shattered.
It looks like the people over at First A.M.E. weren’t prepared for that. Which is a damn shame.

See, and that statement was shady. There’s a lot more to Scientology than is put in the media.
It’s easy to make fun of Scientologists, especially nowadays. Just like people made fun of Christianity when IT was the new religion hundreds of years ago.
Don’t let Tom Cruise’s crazy ass fool you. Like it or not, Scientology is a belief that a lot of people find comfort in, just like Christianity. It’s not just about taking rich people’s money, a lot of people find genuine relief and spiritual growth in Scientology. Now, I’m not a Scientologist in the least, but too many people jump on the bandwagon of making fun of Scientology without really knowing ANYTHING about it except what they hear comedians say.

I dunno whether to believe this or not. I know if it was something serious there would have been police reports filed. Besides, does Brandy look like the fighting type? Nahhhhh.
If this did happen, it all depends on how Brandy and her posse approached the people at the F.A.M.E church. Yes, in a house of God you should be able to ask questions. That’s why I stopped going to catholic church: it was all repeat this, stand up, kneel down, pray, hug your neighbor, hear the gospel, and leave. I had a chance to asks questions when I was little in Sunday school, but now I have deeper and more complex questions, and I felt that in this particular church, they were not being answered. However, it also depends how you ASK THE QUESTION. If you’re gonna be all HOOD and have a bad attitude and try to impose your beliefs on others in a pretentious manner, then your ass should be kicked out.
COME CORRECT OR DON’T COME AT ALL.

Sarcasm from my working there in early 2000 as I noted before from what I saw it the mission and concept is that it is all in your mind.
Everything is about your mind and how the brain works. Believe what you want to believe but don’t discredit scientology. They had detox programs, rock counting programs, and a constantly blatant selling of the book to educate ppl from the cult- oops I mean religious leader L. Ron Hubbard. At the center where I briefly worked each member was given an address list to mail out to ppl weekly to get them to come to meetings and join scientology. I somehow got put on this list for mailing and when I quit working there they began to send me mail every week trying to get me to come down. Their policy was if I relpy and tell them to take me off of their list I would stop recieving the solicitations. Honey I called, wrote, and demanded that they take me off of the list. It’s been seven years and I have moved atleast 2-3 times and they always somehow get my address and solicit me. I can not figure that one out for the life of me but they are a very persistent religion. Oh yeah and they are insanely happy ALL the time. I never figured that one out either. They have holistic programs for detox and yoga and what not set up in their centers and a constant taping of infomercials in their lobbies from celeb scientologist encouraging ppl to join.

Too bad you had to step Bill because I really want to know why masturbation (according to YOUR pastor) is not OK but oral sex is. So I can have oral sex with my partner but if I want to watch him masturbate that’s out of the question???? Not understanding.
And for the record, all pastors don’t agree with that sentiment. Many pastors believe that what occurs between a man and woman sexually, if done in love and monogomy is 100% natural. The anal sex thing I can agree with but everything else is a go.
The body is a temple that is also a derivitive of pleasure. So obtaining pleasure orally versus manually is different how? Both cause you to feel good (if done right) so how is one more acceptable than the other?
I guess anyone that shares Bill’s sentiments about that can answer because I am baffled by that train of thought.

@pittboi I can honestly say that I have never been to any mega church’s living in lil ol’ Cincinnati that employ that tactic . but I never experienced that type of solicitation.
You Said: ‘ Sometimes you’re going to come across people who have ACTUAL questions about your religion. i agree with this and believe me I pray that the eyes of all saints can be open to a world that wants answers. I won’t say I have all of the answers to everyones questions. But if I can’t answer you it is my policy to find out what the word says about it and if maybe there IS someone that might be able to answer that question to point you in their direction. That’s how I approach things IRL. Also I’m not God I’m only an ambassador I can only do what I can. So instead of criticizing a whole group of ppl based off of a bad response or experience that you’ve had before, try again and pray for someone to be able to answer the questions that you have to cut out the foolishness.
I understand your frustration. Feel free to pm me anytime and if I can help I will.

I’m pretty content in my spiritual place with God. I was just pointing out the reason why I don’t have much nice to say about organized religion anymore. The black church especially has become a place where people mostly come to pimp and showboat and flash for other churches. And from my personal expeirence this is especially true of F.A.M.E.

Bill Said:
I Promise you, I’m leaving NOW !!!
I need to be in Trenton for a meeting @ 3:00 with my bosses @ DOE.
Okay, Ms_Mac1 (my sister…) here we go:
Masturbation is an act that envolves a person having to CONJURE up images in his/her mind…
It’s a selfish act, that usually involves pornographic
pictures or videos.
It’s an act that involves a person looking at another person who is NOT you husband or wife, and FANTASIZING about having SEX with that person.
Now if your married, and you want to maturbate your mate, ENJOY Yorself & have fun.
If your mate wants to maturbate in front of you or ON you, go ahead, have yourself a ball (no pun intended) !!!
My bible tells me that the marriage bed in honorable & undefiled.
I belive that as long as your are not violating your mate (rape or any type of forceful sex), that everything IN the MARRIAGE BED is copacetic.
I believe that Anal Sex is Unnatural..
The bible talks about certain people being reprobate in their own minds and committing unnatural acts, and desiring to have sex with their own gender….
I don’t have time to get into with you now…..
I know how YOU feel about that subject, and I don’t feel like fighting with you about it today..
I gotta run and meet my boss (You KNOW how crazy the NJ Turnpike can be….).
I’ll talk to you on TUESDAY, if you have additional question. You know me, Ms_Mac1, I love to debate, I mean DISCUSS (Thanks MS. Dawsondn !!) issues of relevance & importance
Love ya like a play cousn !

@ Ms_Mac:
The purpose of sexual pleasure is to nurture intimacy and unity between a husband and wife. The Bible doesn’t provide a detailed discussion of human sexual issues. It tends to refer to sexual matters indirectly and with considerable delicacy. For example, even the term sex isn’t used in the Bible, and the male and female sexual organs are referred to only indirectly, as is the act of intercourse. It’s likely, therefore, that although it isn’t mentioned specifically in Scripture, habitual masturbation would be included under the categories of “lasciviousness,” “impurity,” and “uncleanness”. A few bible verses you can go to are Leviticus 15:16-17 ; Mark 7:20-22 ; 2 Corinthians 12:21 ; Galatians 5:19 ; Ephesians 5:3,5 ; Colossians 3:5.
Leviticus 15:16-17 makes it clear that masturbation would have been considered “unclean” under Old Testament Law.
Hope this helps.

If this is true, IMO keyword “my” I don’t understand why she went there to question the bible of Christians. That doesn’t make sense to me, I read my bible and I believe in my bible. I wouldn’t question another religion’s bible because I believe what I’ve been taught is right. Therefore what other religions teach or preach about is irrelevant to me. But, if I had a question about my bible I’d ask my pastor. If she in fact did this, that’s like me going to a scientology church in the middle of one of their meetings and questioning them about their bible, when my beliefs are elsewhere.
Honestly the bible can be interpreted in so many different ways, you could go to 50 Christian churches and ask about the same scripture and more than likely get different answers.

Thanks Foxxy and Bill.
I am sure we could all go back and forth and forth and back about this topic. And mizzlizz is right. WHERE IS JUDAH and MEATLOAF??? They could surely add some spice to an already hot topic. lol.
Nonetheless, this is the bottom line for me: People should be free to believe what they want. God (if you beleive in God) created us to be free-minded and has or shows no preference. Therefore, no one religion trumps the other. If you believe in your faith, then you should never let “Man” shake that faith. Man is only a vessel, not the water on which it flows. Equally, you should never try to force or convert someone else because a believer is a believer. Man cannot change that either.
I seriously think if people across the globe would stop acting like their religion is more favored (i.e. Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, etc) we could all live a little more peacably. I have yet to hear of anyone coming back from the afterlife and proving that what their “God” said was right. Each Spiritual Book has validity. None is flawless. Having said that, a little respect for the next man goes a long way. Perhaps we should be trying to find better ways to live in peace than rather than how to survive during war — religious or otherwise.
I’m out.

Didn’t Jesus kick the tax collectors out of the temple? We need to kick Scientology off the religious map. It’s not a game. They are evil.
I don’t doubt many Scientologists were lovely people before they got brainwashed. But after, they cannot under any circumstances be trusted. They are not in their right minds. I’ve done a lot of research on this and othe ‘religions’. Terrible things go on behind closed doors with Scientology. If you act like “hey, it’s their choice”, they will never be stopped.
Yes, as long as a Scientologist remains brainwashed, they are SHADY. No doubt.

One last thing:
For the record, Bill, I’ve never expressed to you or anyone on this site how I feel about homosexuality. I’ve only pointed out that it people shouldn’t be judged. Clowning celebrities is one thing. Talking about wiping out a real person becuase of their sexuality is another (not saying you said this).
The only stance I take on CL about homosexuality is that a male homosexual person should not be judged any differently than a male heterosexual who does the same thing. If someone thinks two men giving it to each other in the doo chute is disgusting, they shouldn’t be OK with a man giving it to a woman in her booty crack. If you consider the first act nasty, so is the other.
Nor should these same homophobes be OK with two women getting it on either. That’s hypocrisy. And I see that double standard on here a lot. I just don’t get how people can argue that one act is vile and the other is not, then reference it through the Bible.
Just wanted us to be clear on that. My opinions and thoughts about homosexuality are way too deep for CL.

If this is true, that means that they specifically went over there to start mess. They just came from their meeting high on Scientology, then they decided to walk in someone elses church and question their beliefs, they went looking and found trouble.

I wonder why she didn’t try going to an
Islamic MOSQUE ?????
If she did, she never would have come OUT alive, that’s why……
You can’t go around disrepecting a person house of worship…
She crossed the line when she did that !
She SHOULD have gotten beat up !!!!!
AND
I’m starting to doubt this story because there would have been a Police report or a report that Brandy or the Church of Sciencetology was suing FAME for assault.
Jann Murray may very well be lying…

The problem with these churches are if you have take what they say no questions. Thats why I am spiritual not religous. Brandy was right questioning, thats what seekers do…scientology doesen’t have all the answers, nor do baptists, buddists, etc. We have to ask. F.A.M.E felt threatened. so violence was the only way to deal with the lack of answers. Just shows you how bogus this religious crap is. Would Jesus bust out and start scrapping if one of his people asked a question??? WWJD??? This church crap is bogus its just to make money and dupe the people. Wake up people, the truth is in you!!!

Brandy if you want to have your questions answered about anything, go within and ask spirit, and the answer will come, it always does. Seek and yea shall find. Knock and the door shall be open to you. You don’t need others to give you their truth, they are just as confused as you. Unless they tell you to go within. Peace

Sitting in my office down in Trenton, and I HAD to respond to specific accusations about the Christian Religion…
But you know what..As always, There are two sides to a story, and one can’t really change another person’s mind, ESPECIALLY when their mind is made up to speak out against, disregard, and/or hate churchs & religion
I’m done with this topic.
Peace

If Brandy was a true Scientologist her ass would not need to go to someone church challenging their religious beliefs because of her insercurities. I don’t believe this rumor. I thought Brandy was a Christian, so does she practice both Scientology and Christianity. It’s a great combination.

Scientology has absolutely nothing to do with science. There is no empirical data on body thetans and xenu the galactic overload.
#82
you are right about just having faith in God and anything is possible (the christian version), except massive starvation in Africa, children being raped and abused all over the globe etc.
#87
How dare people spread fictitious things about religion, like talking snakes and walking on water.

The good news is that Brandy has not forgotten her spirituality. Being a former member of FAME and a childhood friend of Brandy, I could see this happening. I don’t know if it’s true, but it is possible. I just wish the old Pastor, Cecil Murray, was there for B’s questions. I think Brandy is in search of the truth. Like me, Brandy was raised in the Church of Christ and that sect of Christianity causes you to question the Word, rather than accept it. We know she was under Noel Jones over at Greater Bethany for a split second and then she ended up with Scientology. We must also be clear to say that Brandy wasn’t the one fighting, the two guys she was with were the ones involved in the altercation.

LAWD, LAWD, LAWD. This is too much if it’s true. This would make for a good movie. Thinking about putting the screenplay together right now. But there was an incident somewhat like this that happened in South Carolina, only thing is it wasn’t dealing with scientology it was about something else.

Brandy looks good in that pic, beautiful skin. Now if this is true she should be ashamed. Everyone makes their own choices regarding faith. If she is a scientoligist be happy and go jump on somebody’s couch. Don’t go to a church and mock other peoples beliefs.
